We were far from our best as a makeshift XI eventually got the job done against Hednesford, who lost their heads in the last 10 minutes having looked comfortable until then.
No surprise in a) Frank Sinclair's team ending without 11 men and b) frank Sinclair being sent off. Tool
7 wins in 8 now, within 2 points of the leaders, solidly in the top 5 too

A 0-0 draw away at Gloucester (Cheltenham) in Gannon's first game back in charge. We unsurprisingly looked a lot more disciplined by all accounts but couldn't quite scrap our way to a win against a side who had won 4 in a row before today.

We were shambolic from minute 1. It could have been 10 to be fair - we didn't have a shot on target. :hail:

Atmosphere was better than the game today. We looked a lot more solid than in recent weeks, started with a 4-3--3 as I expected and it worked quite well but switched to a 4-2-3-1.

He brought in Holsgrove who Young signed, then loaned out without playing a game, and he was shite, didn't do anything, when he got the ball he did nothing with it, either that or he lost it. Hopefully that's the last we see of him and I'd like to see JG try and get Evans and Baggie going, wouldn't even mind seeing Evans upfront with Odejayi again if Brewster doesn't come back.

Better yesterday and should have nicked it with Menagh at the end but it's all about next season now

Pretty much fatal defeat for Telford at home to Hednesford tonight.

Would be hilarious if Shaw Lane Aqua Force or Basford United are promoted and Telford visit them.

Alfreton 2 (Jones 56,79) Nuneaton 2 (Harewood 48, Whitehouse 75)

Well I have just the witnessed the worst ever performance by a Ref ever seen at the Impact Arena/ Miss Elizabeth Simms was so far out of her depth it was a joke! She never had control of the game from minute one.

Where do I start?

The First half was pretty poor fare. Neither side really doing anything. However we did have two penalty shouts. One was especially stromg. Former Alfreton Defender was all over the back of Sam Smith in the box. So much so that he forced him to the ground but nothing doing for the ref.

We thought that was bad well worse was to come. A "block tackle from Todd Jordan on the edge of the area was adjudged was to be a foul and Nuneaton were awarded a Penalty. Everyone from both sides were shocked. There was no appeal what so ever. Shocking decision. Duke saved the initial pen but Harewood dispatched the rebound.

Sam Jones then levelled matters with a moment of individual brillance turning twice in the box befire finding the bottom corner.

Then came a huge goalmouth scramble invovling sevral players after a Alfreton Corner. The ball appeared to cross the line from a Nuneaton defenders boot who apparently according to Alfreton gfans behind the goal used an arm in trying to keep the ball out. Miss Simms gived nothing and allows the situation to descend in to a rugby scrum before awarding Nuneaton a Free kick. Couldnt see whether it cross the line from where I was but the scramble seemed to last an age.

Nuneaton took the lead again with 15 to go when Former Red finished well after a good 1-2 with the evregreen Harewood. The Reds were level though just 4 minutes later when sam Jones hooked Bradleys cross past the stricken keeper.

Then in the final minutes. Another contentious decision. Dan Bradley put Jamie Jackson clean through and as he closed in on the on rushing keeper the last defender Rowe-Turner clearly pulled him back. While falling Jackson managed to stab the ball goalwards but it went inches wide. Everyone expected it to be pulled back for a Penalty but no the Ref "had played advantage"!

Unbelievable.

After all that a draw was just about a fair result. Its stretches our unbeaten run to 8. Bring on Monday and our trip to Curzon Ashton

Solihull's late winner aside, a decent day for us. Cementing a playoff place with every Nuneaton slip, could put real daylight between us and them tomorrow if we beat an in form Gloucester

She's reffing now? Last season she was only a liner. Good omen for us though, we won quite a lot of the games that she officiated!

Lost 1-0 at Gloucester. Bitterly disappointing. Missed 3 great chances in the first half hour (Felix missed an open goal too- possibly the worst I've seen fro a Boston player) and they scored after an hour and saw it out easily as we resorted to smashing it to strikers who couldn't compete against their centre halves

Curzon 0-2 Alfreton (Jones 3, Jackson 48)

The perfect away day really. Got to Manchester in good time. No petrol stations visited unfortunately! Had a lovely tram journey before a 2 hour walk round the fantastic National Football Museum. What a great place that is BTW. Id highly recommend that to everyone. Well worth a visit. Free to get but can voluntarily donate £3 if you like. Which the four of us did without questions as it is well worth that! Then took the tram back to the car for the short half a mile drive to the Tameside Stadium.

I cant remember a more comfortable away day either. The locals where extremely friendly and welcoming and once Sam Jones powered us in from with a excellent solo run and finish after three minutes the win never looked in doubt. Curzon never threatened all night and despite having a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside MOTM Jamie Jackson finally doubled the lead 3 minutes in to the second half after latching on to Dan Bradleys through ball and rounding the keeper and firing in to the empty net!

Even more dissapointed that we didnt progress past bloody Nuneaton now in the Trophy as I would have loved a second visit to Curzon. Really nice club.

Thats 9 unbeaten now and 17/21 points taken in the league. Had we won on Saturday against Nuneaton (which we should have done had it not been for the ref) I would have fancied us for a strong play-off surge. However I think we may have left ourseleves a little too much to do!

With a little bit of luck there is no reason whatsoever why we couldnt have won all 9 of our recent games. So if we can that sort of form going you never know. Its been an incredible turn around though. From looking down and out and lost after the home defeat to Bradford PA on the 19th of December we having been nothing short of superb.

Its been an incredible turnaround mate.

If you had saw us in the 1-0 home defeat to Bradford PA on the 19th of December. We looked, lethargic and totally lost.

Fast forward to Boxing Day at Tamworth and after Nicky Law said he had a few stern words with the players we have been a revelation! You scarcely believe it's the same group of players! We look a compact unit at the back with Brad McGowan immense. Sam Jones in midfield has really blossomed and looks a real player. Our Top Scorer now with 14. Up front, teams have struggled to deal with the directness of Meikle and Bradley.

To be honest I am really struggling to see where the next defeat is coming from. Just a crying shame we may have left ourseleves too much to do in terms of the play-offs.

Brodie scored on his debut but we can't hold a lead and ended up losing 2-1, they scored just after HT which seemed to kill us but we played quite well apparently, looking forward to next season already, confident Gannon will put a good team together.

Sounded like we deserved at least a point, having hit the bar twice but nice to see Brodie getting on the scoresheet. I'm sure the squad will be almost unrecognisable by the time we start next season.

Yeah we'll need a new keeper, I'm not sure about Smalley so a new CB, and a few attacking players, at least. I'm just hoping Brodie is here for next season.

I reckon we might see a couple of players from Northwich in the summer, I reckon he is being courteous in waiting until the summer while they fight for promotion.

FC United aren't very good are they?

They were tonked 5-1 by fucking Telford of all people tonight plus they were beaten 4-0 by Brackley a few weeks back. They were the bottom two in December

Nothing other than a win on Saturday will do!

Their goalkeeper went off injured and they didn't have a substitute one. Outfield player went in goal, conceded a penalty and got sent off. Playing 45 minutes with 10 men and your second choice outfield player goalkeeper is quite difficult.

Good win for Trinity last night and now in the Top 10.

I think they're the lowest scorers in the league but are half decent defensively.

Fair enough. Didnt know their keeper was sent off/they had 10 men. That would explain it!. Still they are very hot and cold.
