Gillingham have a tiny budget, it’s the beauty of the place that makes it so attractive to potential players.

Im staying around the corner from Priestfield Stadium next week - must remember to bring my bullet-proof vest!

Faversham. Have been defeated in my quest to buy property in London on account of not being a millionaire yet and my missus has got a place in her hometown in Faversham that she's been renting out so we've decided to move in there and I'll commute into London a few days a week.
Not far from me that, Faversham is very nice as I’m sure you know and as a brewery town has an incredible amount of decent pubs and places to eat.

4 quid? More like 6 or 7 nowadays, and that's outside London.

Broken Britain.

That’s what happens when you’ve had the tories in power for a decade, sadly.

I haven’t drank for years now but I took the Wife to York last week and we decided to have a drink on the rooftop terrace of our hotel and a cocktail and a Kopparberg - £18.

Whereabouts are you, PuB? And any of the Gills lot for that matter? Any good Kent recommendations are appreciated. Think I've only been to Faversham, Rochester and Canterbury. Oh and Gillingham away. And Bromley if we're counting that.

Yep one advantage of being London based for the last six years or so has been that I've missed elsewhere playing catch-up in terms of beer prices. Smaller towns still seem to be cheaper but all the big cities are on par with London now. I don't think London pub prices have increased that much in recent years.

I remember being in a local here and some spurs fans were up, and he was like “surely manchester would aspire to be like london” bloke was lucky to get out alive  :ffs:

You’re right about prices though, £5/6 in town easy, but like with you in london once you’re out of it it’s quite a lot cheaper. £3-25 in altrincham for a lovely pint of kronenburg

Also similar in the sense that as the centre is getting so expensive more and more live out in the “burbs”

Was away with work in the Waterloo area of London - I had to part with £26 for four 330ml bottles of Staropramen in a fairly standard looking establishment.

Lived in Sevenoaks for 4 years. Very nice place as is Tonbridge and T'Wells. I'd say in Faversham you've done well, lovely place. Whitstable and Broadstairs are great

Unfortunately for the Gills fans the only place in Kent I didn't really like was the Medway (sorry)

Was going to say, £4 is the cheaper end of things nowadays.

Used to get a pint for under £2 when I started going out. Halcyon days.
You're making me feel old, 35p for a pint of Ansells although I was still at school, landlord didn't care as long as we behaved ourselves.

Ha ha! 1s4d for a pint of bitter, 1s2d for mild(7p and 6p). Loads of ale, fish and chips and a mucky woman all for less than a quid. Decimalisation was an even bigger con than Brexit.

My first wage packet - in cash, in a brown envelope - was £7 per week. Could get 7 pints for a pound.

Generally, though, the beer and early lager was absolute shite.

Double Diamond, Starlight, Tartan - all Satan’s piss.

Loz, I make that you are around 70 years old. Decimalisation was in 1971. 50 odd years ago! and they have been some odd years.

Don't forget that decimalisation was part of the con to get us in the Comman Market; which we were promised would never turn into a union.

Lies to get us in. Lies to get us out.

Not right good at maths. Add 10 years, the skies of Europe and North Africa were crowded.

You're all making me feel young now! My £2 pint was about 2005/6 when I first started going out at 15/16 18.

I got 2 pints in a pub in Bradford for less than a fiver last season which automatically made it my favourite away day last season. Didn't even reach the minimum £5 spend on card!
