We've just bought a house and the missus is halfway through cooking a baby, so no decent holiday for us for a bit! I think we're going to have a weekend in Bruges though when the baby is born, before he/she is too old to be bored by it! We love taking the ferry over there

Jealous of people having big breaks :-( would love to go back to Croatia, or one of those river cruises that go round Prague, Budapest etc. Look great

Has anyone been to South Africa?

Thinking of basing myself in Cape Town for a week over September.

I went several years ago and have wanted to go back ever since. We stayed with my ex's family just off the Kruger which was brilliant though I fell out with them. We went to Mozambique for the day which I loved. We then had a week in Johannesburg which I also loved. I have a friend down in cape town and have wanted to go for ages. Things are a bit lively there again lately but I'd still go.

I hope that's a figure of speech.

What happened?

Typical racists really and treated their "workers" like shit. I eventually fell out with them after the wedding we'd been to which made for an awkward but amusing last day. Their son was bragging that he was some sort of international karate star but I couldn't find his name on any of the tournaments he'd supposedly entered so wound him up and he ended up getting his Dad to come and "have a word" although he was quite tough. Strange family and no one else I met was like them.

Congrats on your baby btw. Know the gender/names?

Thanks! We don't know gender because Gemma doesn't want to know, thinking it's a great surprise to find out at the time. I'd prefer to know before, but I'm useless at keeping secrets so it's probably better I don't!

We're thinking Holly for a girl and Thomas for a boy at the moment, but there's still a few more months to change our mind as it's not due to Christmas time.

You might be setting yourself up for a bit of stick by calling your daughter Holly around Christmas time.

Congrats btw.

I think Yolo would be a great girl's name.

Thomas is the king of names. Although I prefer Tommy.

Just back from the south of France. Stayed in a campsite in Frejus, about 30 minutes outside of Nice. I was going to head into Nice on Bastille day/night, but we thankfully decided against it. Such a tragedy, we certainly had someone looking out for us. Stayed for a week. Visited Frejus town/port a few nights, went into Monaco and visited Saint Maxime. Lovely part of the world with some of the most beautiful scenery. Will definitely be back at some stage and hope to get a proper look at Nice next time.

Thanks - booked tickets this morning. Going for 7 days.

Robben Island, winery tour, Cape Point, Boulders beach, Table Mountain, Safari...? Anything else?

Just got back from a week in Sardinia. Very relaxing down the pool and sea. Stayed in the north so didn't get to visit Cagliari sadly. It's a very quiet island.

Flying to Milan on Tuesday, will spend most of Wednesday there then head to Reggio Emilia on Thursday to see Red Star's Europa League game then flying back Friday.

Any 'must-see's' in Milan given the short time frame? Reggio Emilia looks like it has nothing.

Driving down to Lizard for a week from Saturday. Got a grand saved up for spends too, so should be a good week, first holiday in 2 years so all really looking forward to it, the kids especially. Flambards and Minack definitely on the agenda, lots of good memories of the former in the 70s and 80s.

Thanks.

Loved Oslo will definitely be going back, it being insanely expensive is no myth though, outrageous.
