Tonnes of games left, you're only 1 point off 3rd. If you can come out of the other side sharpish (preferably not the next two games!) and kick on again you'll be fine. MK aren't going to keep winning every week and then you've got them on the final day, too.
Hopefully we can do pretty much exactly what we did the last time we won a promotion though and win 28 points out of our last 30.

Realistically though, I can't call it now. April seems brutal and I'm not even convinced that we'll come away from it within 3 points of 3rd.

We can’t any longer catch bury or Lincoln so it’s just you. It’s hard to see is beating Crawley away or Lincoln at home so you could be 7 clear of us come 2 games

You are only six points behind us with a game in hand.

Can't believe we're even in this thread! I'll be over the moon if we finish where we are, but I'll be proud of the lads even if we miss out. Tough run in but sod it, let's go for it.

By your reckoning does this now mean Exeter will not make the play offs, due to the fact they’re not actually in them?

No, read the thread properly rather than quoting one post. Post #630 may be of interest to you.

Although if we keep playing as we are, we won't make them!

Who are people's preferred playoff opponents (assuming of course your own team gets in)?

Tranmere are on good form, and the only one of the teams around there who are proper upwardly mobile. Colchester and Carlisle both ending bad runs to get into the playoff positions while Exeter and FGR experience bad runs.

That in mind, what I would prefer is for them to squeeze into the automatic places so we don't have to play them. That would force both a crestfallen Mansfield and MK Dons managed by Paul (playoff bottle-job extraordinaire) Tisdale to settle for the playoffs. They'd have to occupy 4th and 5th places, so we'd occupy 6th or 7th along with another, so then it doesn't really matter as it will only be someone as inconsistent as ourselves, and we might not even play them, but maybe Exeter for old time's sake, though two CUFCs in the playoffs would be nice.

We will finish 8th.

No you bloody well won't. We're damned hell not busting our guts to get into the playoff places unless that's rewarded by meeting a team in the semis struggling with the disappointment of missing out on the autos. It's what is always promised to any team in the playoff chase, if you scrape into 7th spot then you will get a team on bad form.

Please refer back to the 'Flitcroft Special' we had last season. I am sure I read somewhere we have exactly the same amount of points this time around as last season. Its incoming, its here, its the Flitcroft Special!

We had this discussion a while back. Pretty well all the teams going for the autos are strugglers with the playoffs. We have never managed it. Any team involved could go up, it's a pure lottery.

To summarise, I love the playoffs except when we are involved.

If we don’t get automatic the bottle mentality would be firmly engraved and the play-offs would be predictable.

How did those 2 games go mate?
We drew and lost, not sure why you're asking that when you know the results.

You seem a bit insecure, is that right? Not sure why you'd feel it necessary to quote that, shall I start quoting everyone's posts when they suggest what would happen if they win a game? Pretty bizarre, and somewhat peculiar behaviour lol

We may be out of form but prior to the last two games we had a great win at Crewe and were about 20 seconds away from winning at Lincoln, so not all doom and gloom.

A win at Macc and we go into a big game at home to Colchester with some confidence and all of a sudden things look positive.

Tbh, I doubt we will go up purely due to our lack of a quality striker and I’m ok with that. Taylor has already overachieved in what would always be a transitional season. The summer will hopefully see Taylor address the weak areas of the squad and we will be much better for it.

If we win all of our remaining games to squeak into the play offs (very likely I know) then I’m hoping we get Notts County.

We're not in bad form, we just came up against a top class Morecambe side on Saturday who would thrash most of the playoff contenders. Not sure how they're near the bottom, we haven't managed to score against them this season never mind get any points.

Pretty sure Colchester will be easier tonight, at least we definitely won't lose 5-1 this time. Probably.

If we finish in the playoffs Whoever gets us in the semis basically gets a bye to final

Sure. Adam Stansfield foundation when you lose please.

What's your charity of choice in the extremely unlikely situation should you somehow pull off this miracle?

Tranmere really pushing for the top 3 aren't they.

Bad trip up north for MK Dons.

Top 3? Think anyone would be foolish to write us out of that now.

Not a good enough result but still back in the top three thanks to MK Dons messing up.

Huge game on Monday against Lincoln, we ain’t catching them now with the 10 point lead but still.
