If it's 4-1 I'll be staggered. If we win I'll be amazed. I don't think you understand how weak willed and cowardly our team is.

Look at our form though, plus you didn’t come across cowardly in our game earlier in the season.

I must admit with the circumstances it’s a fascinating fixture. Tough to predict but surely worth a bet, let me check them odds

However bad mansfield fans think they are, we are much worse. However spineless they reckon their team is, we are much worse

I was hoping that but to come from 2-0 down last night to take a point surely will give some confidence going into it?

It's a bloody big game for both, especially given how crap we've been of late.

It's nice to have the local games with Lincoln and Notts, but they don't really mean anything compared to this one, bragging rights could well be much higher than normal.

At least danny Rose is back for us, which is a positive sign

Any truth in the rumours some Mansfield fans have booked hotels in Chesterfield on the Friday night for their big day out for a game 20 minutes up the road?

Very weird behaviour if so.

Oi!!! Hold on a minute Stags vs Spireites maybe billed by some as League 2’s equivalent to the Old Firm game , like a pumped up Istanbul derby but everyone around here knows the annual MTFC ‘Big Day Out’ is their trip to the big city. That fixture is the very definition.

Maybe they fancy a big night out in the market town after inflicting defeat on their rivals and basically help send them down to the Abyss , you know make a full day n night of it before staying at the local Ibis

Why post a ridiculous rumour that nobody has even heard about.

I think Viking and Spire seem like the perfect couple. How long have you been together? Maybe you should get married and have your 'Big Day' in Mansfield.

Thanks. If we do, I’m afraid you won’t be invited because rumours are rife that you are boring at weddings. Can’t dance, won’t dance.

I thought that
A) nobody would
B) it's like 20 minutes over the road
C) does Chesterfield actually have hotels?

In reality it's a big game for both, but bigger for Chesterfield on this occasion, a loss for us and meh, we won't make the playoffs which we already know, a loss for Chesterfield and results going against them would be a disaster for them

Yep it would mean we go down. I'm expecting a loss, another nail in the coffin and non league football next season with the survival of our club in the balance. I've come to terms with it.

If we beat you I think I'll be strangely half and half on it. Whereas obviously I'd be delighted we won and beat you in a derby in that context id be delighted, but I also know how it feels to go down under a dodgy owner and what they've done to your football club. There were a fair number of Chesterfield fans who took great delight in our demise, so I wouldn't expect many would be overly sympathetic let's say but in the back of our fans minds, they'll know what you're going to be feeling if we do win

Chesterfield actually does have hotels, unlike Mansfield which has a couple of homeless hostels and doss-houses.

If it does, I guess the 25 or so Dover fans can make the most of it on a cold Tuesday night next season

Maybe. You can give us the lowdown when it happens. How many years of stories do you have?

Oh should it happen, we'll be more than willing to give you plenty of stories. But bigger sides than Chesterfield have been down there. Still time for you to scam your way out of it with our dross of a manager turning us into a laughing stock.

One can see why it was a good little league for you on that front actually. Not too many visitors to try and put up.

Oxford, Luton and Bristol Rovers off the top of my head*. All came back pretty quickly?

*Decent cases can be made for Leyton Orient and Tranmere too.

Bristol rovers did it straight away, Oxford in 2, Luton took 5, took us 5.

Chesterfield aren't the same size as Bristol rovers or Luton mind, and neither did those clubs have an owner hell bent on screwing your club over. If you go down and the owner is still there next season, you'll be more likely to go down again than go up.

As said, you need this win a lot, lot, lot more than we do, no pressure like

Actually.... what?

Maybe some fans from our London contingent have booked a room.

I don't think that was the suggestion. More that they're proper nawty boys who are gonna storm out mob handed to take Derbyshire by force (after crossing two busy road on foot).
