A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
We'll naturally be linked with every half decent striker this Jan with Zaza's loan surely ended early, and Sakho-Carroll the two headed sicknote.

Market inflation aside, that would be an huge fee for Wilson...

Especially considering he's not even back to full fitness and pace yet. When we came up here last season, I thought he'd bang in sort of 12-13 goals and get that kind of 20m move sooner than later. But that injury was serious and whilst he's getting there, he is still recovering from it. I want to see him fully recovered and back to his best, and when that happens I'm sure that kind of move and indeed England won't be far off. But he's just not there at the moment. It has to be paper talk and nothing else, it'd be hugely risky from West Ham.

Van Dijk has a £25m buy-out clause in his contract.

I give up.

Why is that ridiculous? Maybe he wouldn't have signed the contract in the first place without it.

It's the price that is ridiculous, we don't know the details behind why it was set at £25m, of course, but for a defender of his ability in today's market £25m is peanuts.

But he didn't sign the contract in today's market, he signed it in 2015 after costing £13m. To have suggested then that £25m would, 18 months on, seem like pocket change for him would have been laughable. And my point was you can't complain about Southampton including such a clause, if having that option to join a bigger club (if he did well) was an incentive for him to sign in the first place.

I understand this cycle is frustrating for Southampton fans but it's worked incredibly well for them in recent years.

Of course players come to us already knowing that we'll sell them once a bigger club comes calling. We just seemed to have handicapped ourselves with this one. The fee's bad and the fact that the clause means he will most probably leave in January now is even worse.

We wouldn't have reinvested the money for a player of the same quality, but still. Van Dijk's our last remaining "big four" player.

Forgot to mention Celtic also have a sell on fee on him, so we'll probably end up with £20m.

Well according to footballleaks Alderweireld has a release clause of 25 million. Would be solid partner for Matip.

Why would he leave Spurs for Liverpool though? That's a sideways move. You probably pay similar wages, too.

Well Pogba moved from Juve to United! :D
Still got Van Dijk as a backup.

We pay much higher wages than Juve, though.

Van Dijk is more likely, yeah. He'd be a decent signing.

Squawka is excellent for stats but I'm not sure how reliable they are when it comes to transfers. Assuming it is true...they can have Depay but I like Schneiderlin and I don't think he's been given a fair chance by Mourinho - he's also the only proper defensive midfielder we've got.

Nice attacking midfielder, Valentin Eysseric and Luciano Narsingh, winger at PSV. We are rumoured to have made a bid for him in the last window. He's apparently out of contract in the coming summer and they don't want him to go for a free, so probably back in for him in January.

Doubt Nice will let anyone go given their current position.

Oscar to China for £52million meant to be almost done?

Likeable player who on his day is great and when he isn't on his day makes up for it with his work rate.

52million is ridiculous though.

James Rodriguez to Chelsea rumours have started again. If he cant get start for Real Madrid, he wont start for Chelsea. They want like £75m haha no chance.

For that kind of money it'd seem like an odd signing. I mean, in your current system he could only really be utilized on the right and that's not his natural position. Sure, he played as a CM for Real Madrid but CM for them and CM for the current Chelsea side isn't really comparable.

On paper, he has everything you can ask at his age. He can play both in the middle and on the right side of the defense, even though he's at his best in the middle. He's good with the ball at his feet, runs with the ball well and is generally a good decision maker. A typical modern centre back. Could still put some weight on mind, but he's positionally aware and one I'd very much like at Liverpool. A good marker and a very good tackler.

However, and this is quite a big however: he keeps having really weird lapses of concentration. By really weird I mean that it just doesn't add up with all his ability, and it costs goals at times. Obviously he's young but it's a warning sign for me, because some of the mistakes he's made (have a look at the highlights from Besiktas-Benfica, for example) are incredible for a top level centre back.

If you can get him for £25M or less, it's a good deal. More than that and it's a gamble. But he will cost you goals while still looking like a fantastic centre back the rest of the time. If he signs, he will be a guaranteed inclusion in our bi-annual overrated/underrated threads. But on pure technically ability alone, you'll get a good squad member at the very least. If he somehow learns how to stay focused for 90 minutes regularly, you have potential as good as any other defender out there.

Yeah he's good at only 22 and should start alongside Bailly i think. Had a meteoric rise from the B team and last season did well in the Champions League and got into the swedish national team.

On the other hand Mourinho can't see anything stand out in the portuguese league, he always comes and signs them...
