We could do with one, but the geography makes it unlikely to be us. Wasnt he linked to Southend? I may have made that up.

It sounds like we are hopeful on two players today. One is a backup keeper. I can’t see this being us. After yesterday’s signings we look set in defence although there’s rumours David Wheater is training/signing with us.

i thought with the Parkinson link we would have been certs for him but given he is settled with family in the North East it would be highly unlikely. And we have now signed David Jones in the potential player/coach role that could have been there for him

I think that we could well be in for Maghoma

County set to sign Arjan Raikhy on a season's loan. We do need some spark in the middle of the park, not sure an 18 year-old from Villa is the way to go.

Let Southend have him and we will have Akinola

I think even the current version of Akinde is better than Akinola, provided you use him correctly.

Most people who don't rate Akinde ignore that he has been used incorrectly for most of his career. You need to have him playing off the shoulder of the last defender and play balls in over his head. He's not a target man. Only Martin Allen and whoever managed Alfreton the season before we signed him knew how to use him correctly.

I more meant the fact he is not coming here because it's too far and we need a striker, so if it's not Akinde, I'll take Akinola

Yeah, I said the same on The Fishy. I wouldn't be comfortable with Southend getting an upgrade essentially, however our lack of options up top means that Akinola is genuinely looking like one of the most likely signings unless Hurst has something up his sleeve. You're completely right Beebot, Akinde is the better option but it's a non-starter I suspect. He won't come all the way up here.

Akinola is still a good signing for the NL even if his first touch is ropey sometimes.

Be good if you can replicate the glory years that Carlisle have had recently.

The former also linked with Plymouth.

He had Covid at the turn of the year and hasn't been the same since, most expected him to be moved on this summer even before the midfield signings we've made.

It'd be a hell of a turnaround because not long ago he was on his way to Preston from Crewe but failed his medical.

Some journalist on twitter now linking us with Ben Tozer from Cheltenham.

Either people are making stuff up or we are casting our net wide.

Tozer is basically a specialist long throw taker.

Pretty sure Ben Tozer is the prick who after being terrorised by Owura Edwards for 90 mins last season as we were turning Cheltenham over decided to stamp on him in frustration and got away with it.

Add him to the Grimsby HATE LIST.

He’s got a lot of work to do to catch up to Danny Wright, Challinor and the Torquay goalie from the playoff final.

Good signing for us though?

Tozer has supposedly agreed terms with us. Some statement of intent that.

If we sign Guy as well, I'd say we probably have the best side on paper.

There seems to be a lot of hatred in Grimsby
