What do you realistically reckon it would take? I reckon any more than 200k absolute maximum would be absolutely crazy money at this level for a guy who can't even start regular and has injury issues. Personally I'd be upset if we offered more than 150k. Also I'd be willing to bet this 'leak' is more likely to have come from the County end than ours. I can buy County trying to drive any potential price up more than I can us trying to unsettle a guy into a sideways move, you know.

Well, we don’t need to sell, he apparently doesn’t want to leave, and he’s contracted until summer 2023, so there’s no way he’d be going to a promotion rival unless it was for something monumental, which won’t be offered because as you said he had injury issues, although they seem to be mostly behind him now.

Dunno, I suspect there’s an element of us thinking he’s only going to get less valuable from here with 18 months left on his deal and if we have to sell someone this month it might as well be the guy who is in demand but not quite fitting into the team properly. As I said earlier though it’s a completely different ball game selling to a league club and selling to you.

My best guess at what’s going on is Notts have indicated to Cal’s agent that we wouldn’t necessarily be against selling him this month for the right offer. Naturally he’s been touted round a bit by said agent (he was linked with Hartlepool only earlier today after nothing all season), and you’ve got wind and had a go at testing the water. We obviously didn’t mean he’s ‘available’ for a bargain as such, so have had to quickly leak to our local press that there’s no chance we’d sell to a league rival for any fee. Who leaked your bid to your press and why.. not sure on that one.

Well to be fair we do have 'monumental' money to spend comparatively to the level right now (barring any Boris decisions), but there's zero chance this has any legs if County are truly holding out for an unrealistic fee for what looks like a squad player from the outside in, but I guess we all knew that from the start. I'd sooner we went for RR if we were truly going actually going in monumental, but I think the Trust has more sense

Can see it pan out now, Notts accept monumental bid, scarf held aloft at the unveiling and Professor Witty steps in to tell James Rowe that Super Cal failed the medical.

Timing of the signing is a bit odd from Rowe. I’d expect him to make the deal happen days before we play Notts.

Cal Roberts agent is Kevin Davies. He’s as good as ours.

As someone has suggested on our board, Tshimanga plus cash and he’s yours.
Haha Tshimanga… according to your reporter* he’s off to the championship buddy so I wouldn’t worry about him

*Funny that ‘Notts live’ reckon they have more information on Tshimanga apparently heading to the championship than our own local media:pond:

Based on your summer business wouldn't you accept a slightly lesser version of the player you are selling and a nominal amount of cash?

I’ve finally realised why Lennon handballed it on Sunday! He didn’t want the indignity of Kairo Mitchell scoring past you.

Rydel is at lwb at the moment and he’s been our best player since Challinor arrived and has notched up 9 assists in 11 games.

As Stocky says adding Johnson means we’ll have competition and cover. Has Johnson got some pace?

Apart from scoring goals from midfield what is Holohan good at?
Johnson is no slouch he just can't read the game at all but at NL level that's fine. Typical head it kick it clear it type. I'm not surprised he hasn't made an impact at Vale, bottom end L2 is probably his ceiling.

Holohan works hard in addition to his off ball movement and he's not a bad finisher. I haven't heard he wants to move but nothing surprises me any more.

As for us, we won't be coming in for anyone who is under contract unless they're U21 and play for Boro and fancy a loan. The Roberts thing will be bollocks.

Why are you taking anything said on Twitter seriously?
Because I like to find things out.

So far County fans have told me Kabongo isn’t vaccinated, cost anything up to £1m and could be on up to 10k a week.

The latest breaking news from sky HQ, I mean Meadow Lane, is that he’s off to the Championship.

Why would I go anywhere else for my Kabongo Tshimanga related news?

I can’t wait to find out what he’s having for tea

It’s more likely to be Nathan Tyson with how
Good you’ve been in the transfer market to us

I liked him, left sided CB, looks good in a back three but very suspect bordering scary in a back two, chips in with a decent chunk of goals too, would be a good signing for NL.
Fans of a football league club saying one of their players would be 'a good signing for NL' almost always certainly means they're too shite to even cut it at this level.

Just putting two and two together here… I mean it might make 5 but I’m just speculating…

Jack Clarke, left footed attacking midfielder gets injured and out for the season…. Cal Roberts, no longer guaranteed starter at Notts and not been at his best all year… left footed, attacking midfielder…

Maybe more in this than just a random bid out of nowhere…

I’m sure when Roberts tore us to bits a couple of seasons ago when you scored 2 goals in last minute to win at our place he played as an attacking midfielder didn’t he? We play with two of them in our current system
'Putting two and two together here, we're bidding for a player because we actually want to sign him'.

Fair play, we've got a real Sherlock on the cards here.

They get proper tetchy when you mention Tshimanga possibly leaving don't they
Not I. Genuinely not concerned if he goes as long as we get a decent wedge, I've no doubts Sir James Rowe (who bleeds blue when you cut him and would never, ever leave us) would sign a suitable replacement given his track record so far.

It just means he's cack at FL level.

Happy for Kabby to leave if for the right money. JR will have a list of replacements ready to go out and get. Let’s be real, £1M from Kabby going and £6-700k from the Chelsea game is like a 50% unbudgeted bonus in the middle of the season. We could go out and seriously strengthen and still have over £1M banked.

Read this about 10 times and I still don‘t know what you’re talking about. We didn’t sell any players over the summer.

Have we? I’d take Taylor over Miller, but granted, there’s not much in it. Mitchell? I think there’s lots of room for improvement, but of course we can’t spend the dollars on proven players that a big club like Chesterfield can.

And we can’t compete with BIG SPENDING Stockport or Wrexham.

Makes our league position look quite impressive

I don’t think pointing out how obsessed Notts county fans are is paramount to tetchy but each to their own I guess

He may well go, he’s earned it and if so then that’s that. We will all do well out of it. I don’t think he will but that’s just me. We wouldn’t replace him with a winger/CAM like Roberts if he did anyway so the two stories are completely unrelated despite that Notts hack desperately trying to link the two
