Matias signed for a reputed 2.2m, scored 20 in 36 in the Portuguese top flight last season from the wing.

Outstanding signing that, by far the best signing any team in this country has made so far in my opinion.

Steady on mate :D

I've been following his career in Portugal a fair bit in recent years, and he should have walked into the Portuguese national team. It's fair to say having players like Ronaldo infront of him he ain't gunna get much of a chance, but it looks like he will do soon, especially if he continues he's good form at Sheff Wed, the media over there rate him as a better winger than Nani if that is anything to go off. If he produced this sort of form for FC Porto, Benfica etc rather than Nacional we'd be talking about him getting a move to top European teams, such is a way in the Portuguese domestic league many people don't notice any player that doesn't play for the top 3/4 teams. Thing you got a bargain for 3 million euros.

Don't read his wiki page mind, some Sheff Wed fan has fucked it around.

20 goals he got last season according to what I read, looks a good signing on paper. Exciting times for Wednesday finally, no offence.

Not quite

I know a relative of his, and played football with him a couple of years ago.

You played football with his relative? We're quite lucky Wednesday didn't sign you up instead then. Or Rotherham, anyway. They sign up whoever turns up at the stadium. Four of their squad only came along for the vacancies for stewards.

I work for the same company as his step brother, a couple of years ago he came to England for a trial at a few clubs over here. We only had a kick about, it wasn't a professional match or anything. I've just been following his career since this happened in 2012.

We still haven't signed anybody yet. Without a doubt have the smallest squad of 16 players! The season kicks off in less than a month now...

Hmmmm

SF will be gutted if we aren't in for Dempsey. As would I tbh.

Don't know about gutted but he's the sort of player we should be looking at.

Re Will Keane, I liked him, a season long loan will suit him down to the ground, expect him to be involved a lot, get you 10 goals or so.

That'll do, I think that's us done up front for now with Garner, Beckford, Keane and Hugill.

Reyt coup signing that Matias.

My tweets to young Jordan about the signing are just to wind him up haha

If you guys up your bid to £1m as well, then I'd be happy for him to go to you!

Personally wouldn't be too disappointed if he stuck around. For a guy who has scored 20+ goals in League 1 for 2 of the last 3 seasons, he should be valued a lot higher than that (his contract running out in 12 months brings it down a lot).

When it comes to it, if we keep him around, he does well but still leaves at the end of his contract, then it's probably still been worth the £700k we turned down. Unless someone pays the price we'd be happy to keep him.

Doubt he'll be sold till we bring one more striker in anyway.

Rumour going round is Hull want him so we've bid in a case of if you aren't going to sell Maguire to us we'll try for your target.

Yeah I'm not expecting anything more than bs, I'm expecting to be linked to one or two defenders about £2m.

It's utter bollocks lads, trust me.

We've allegedly bid 2.5m for Hooper from Norwich and going for Alex Lopez from Celta on loan.

Matias looks to be a great signing for Wednesday, but it's always worth waiting to see how they take to British soil.

Igahlo was pish in Italy, but a world beater over here. Albentosa was rated as one of the most form defenders in La Liga but was pish last season. It seems like a lucky dip.

Not that it only applies to overseas players, look at Tom Lees. He was an absolute bombscare for Leeds but goes to Wednesday and performs. Mind boggling.

James Montgomery, Telford's goalkeeper training with Wolves. As we are now down to our third-choice keeper and a lad from the deli counter at the Co-Op who's got curiously big hands, I can see us signing him up.

Not sure who was in what half, however neither keeper challenging for the 2nd spot covered themselves in glory judging by the highlights of yesterday's friendly, especially as it seemed to be against a side made up entirely of members of the butchers union of some quaint French place.

Mind you the keepers for them genuinely looked like outfielders that had been forced to go in goal because the actual keeper was working and can't make mid week games.
