TUESDAY 21ST FEBRUARY

  • Fleetwood Town v Cambridge United
  • Morecambe v Port Vale

SATURDAY 25TH FEBRUARY

  • Oxford United v Bristol Rovers
  • Barnsley v Derby County
  • Bolton Wanderers v Port Vale
  • Burton Albion v Accrington Stanley
  • Charlton Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday
  • Exeter City v Cambridge United
  • Fleetwood Town v Morecambe
  • Forest Green Rovers v Lincoln City
  • Milton Keynes Dons v Ipswich Town
  • Peterborough United v Plymouth Argyle
  • Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
  • Shrewsbury Town v Wycombe Wanderers

Pick of the fixtures:

Barnsley v Derby County should be a cracker, I guess I have to hope for the draw here?
Franchise have had Bolton and Sheff Wed in their last two games...and shipped a mere 10 goals. Surely they're due a break? No? OK then...

Shrews v us will be a key play-off battle six-pointer, even though none of the fuckers above us seems capable of dropping any points.

They out-Wycombed us at Adams Park, were scrappy, dirty and negative, and I expect much the same next week. Mind you, we were pretty shit earlier in the season, we've found our old selves a lot more in the last few months.

Could go either way, the only thing I can say with any confidence is that it won't be one for the purist.

Great time for Cambridge to be playing us. I only hope they are knackered from Tuesday and the travelling, in which case we might scrape a 0-0.

Be good to back up today with our first double of the season over Morecambe. No doubt they will want to prove a point against us after copping a bit of a tonking today and will see this as a more winnable fixture.

Would probably go with the same team again or maybe start Proctor alongside Taylor in place of Massey.

Oxford away. A ground we generally do well at but this is 22nd v 24th in the form table. We may have Finley and Gibson back which will be a bonus.
Another performance like today we will lose, as we would do again most L2 sides

FGR away for us.

We've generally not fared well against sides with poor defences this season due to our lack of creation of chances, albeit we've been better over the last three of four games.

House will return from suspension, Montsma will serve the second of his three match ban and we were without Walsh today with Jackson and Roughan going off injured so that's potentially four defenders missing. If that's the case, we'll have to see whether Kennedy goes with his favoured 3-4-3 or do like he did today when Jackson went off and go with another attacking player in a 4-2-3-1.

Accy at home in a six pointer. Win this and I start to believe we can stay up. That would take us 37 points, perhaps then another 4 wins will do it.

I anticipate maybe 200 gluttons for punishment at the first of these, almost 3,000 (incl 2CWs and hangers on, with some loyal fans in the home seats) at the second and a steady 200 - 250 plus heroes at the weekend.

All the grit, determination and energy which Fleetwood have shown in the last 4 games will count for nothing if they cannot get 3 points against Cambridge. Therein lies the problem, inconsistent home form although this is taking a turn for the better. Good result for Cambridge at the weekend but whichever way you dress it up they are well in the brown stuff. Expect a win by the hosts 3-1

Big game, whilst pressure is eased by the win at the weekend with Morecambe's position we could do with not losing it and trying to build on Saturday's win.

A win would move us onto 43 points and probably have us all but safe with just a handful of points needed with 13 to go.

We know DC looks to change it up and rotate especially with 7 games in 21 days but would be looking to go as strong as possible here and make the rotations for Bolton away.

They've dropped off form in recent weeks since the original fixture was due and they are haemorrhaging goals so would be looking to get two strikers on from the off, ideally Ellis Harrison to partner Matty Taylor and test that defence out (mainly because our defence is pretty depleted!).

Tough game though, they don't often lose at home and a point wont be the end of the world but three would make the run in look far far more comfortable... this is Vale though and we never do anything easily! Need to try and avoid defeat and keep the gap though first and foremost.

Cambridge (H) on Saturday.

0-0 - probably be lucky to see 1 shot on target between both teams to be honest.

If we beat Fleetwood tomorrow night, I’d take 0-0 on Saturday.

I feel we’re gradually turning the corner. I mean, we’re not world beaters but we are starting to not lose every week. We won last time out and before that picked up draws with Lincoln and Ipswich (alongside a defeat to Barnsley). I reckon we’ll win tomorrow night. Blind optimism and all that.

Important game tonight - the main thing is not to drop deeper into trouble, so avoiding defeat is essential; but if the U’s can sneak three points at Fleetwood we are right back in the pack - here’s hoping…

Certainly not confident in tonight’s game at fleerwood, one we’re pretty crap and two fleetwood are on a half decent run, will certainly need the rub of green if we’re to come away with anything.

Can see Marriott running rings round our defence.

Just the one change, Conlon in for Ojo which is a blow as Funso ran the midfield with Pett at the weekend.

Still one striker, would have gone for it a bit tonight with their defensive issues (mainly because we are crap at the back so might as well!)

I’d imagine Funso is being rotated more than anything. Been quite an intense workload lately but thankfully the Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday schedule is out of the way after the weekend.

From when we played Morecambe last time I remember the young lad Mayor being pretty useful so need keep an eye on him.

Mostly Vale so far, can see Morecambe are low on confidence so not a great deal of positive intent from them. We seem a little faster than them and that’s not something can say often.

We are playing the better football and having most of the pressure but haven’t taken a couple of decent chances. When the cut back came across goal Garrity is so close to a touch.

These look low on confidence and are packing the defence so first goal could be key here.

Stone shouldn’t be beaten on his near post like that. Morecambe looked much better second half, could say they’ve improved ever since Stockton went off.

2 games on two consecutive Tuesday nights that scream relegation for vastly different reasons.

Embarrassing they were absolutely useless, we’ve dominated 85 minutes of the game and conceded the only chance they had through a keeper error.

Should be absolutely walloping them tonight and 9 times out of 10 you win that. We were absolutely streets ahead of them.

Feels like a loss to a non league team that, they were that bad.

I’m begging Vale priority number 1 this summer please sort this goalkeeping situation out, we’ve butchered this for far too long now. Cost us a point tonight.

Think we had most of the play but obviously not enough. Ref was very decent to be fair.

Like they always do when we go there they’ve set up like San Marino and we’ve not taken any of the chances and got done on the break. Stone has to save them comfortably.

And then you miss an open goal from 4 yards in the 95th minute. We're fucked.

It’s inexcusable to concede like that at the near post. I don’t think there’s a team in this league with a worse keeper situation than us. The better of the two is on loan from another mid table team in this league and he has his issues. All the evidence was there last season with Stone, countless times in the run-in he nearly cost us and that’s not to mention at Wembley where he got lucky twice.

With Morecambe they certainly started that way but once Stockton went off they were more of a threat, Gnauha (sp?) was good as was Mayor. That in itself is food for thought for any who might look at him this summer..

Well that’s well and truly gutting, we just can’t stop losing games we really shouldn’t be and why we’ll be going down, it’s happened so many times this season.
