How come Wrexham seem to have conceded loads at home but look solid defensively away from home?

To echo the others on here, it's due to the wingbacks. Wrexham play 3-5-2 at home and 5-3-2 away.

Wrexham would be solid defensively at home if:
1. The central defenders would stop getting injured so that they could have a run of games
2. Any of the central defenders had pace
3. The wingbacks were proper wingbacks (Mendy, Forde) and not just wingers (McClean, Barnett)

I think if you could line up with O'Connell, Hayden, Tunnicliffe, flanked by Mendy and Forde, week in, week out, Wrexham would be right up there. I mean, they're third anyway, but they'd probably be pushing Stockport really hard.

Last night was awful. Hats off to Sutton, they did their research well, but Iesu Mawr Wrexham were ponderous. They'll get dicked on Saturday playing like that.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t do it for sure, both of you clearly need to strengthen in defence, you’ve both scored more than us but our GD is obviously much better, that’s the way forward.
You would think so, but the key to us staying up there is to have high possession and aggressively winning back the ball, would hate us to stop playing the high line.

Stop talking sense about a club you follow and know lots about. It's not welcome round these parts.

Hopefully Carlisle come down if we go up. Can't be doing with their supporters if we're in the same league.
No way we don’t want them back, misery hellogregory predicting them to lose 4-0 every week and Carver the Virgin proving time and again that he has as much charm as a public louse.
League 1 are welcome to em.

The ‘strengthen the defence’ is a bit of a red herring anyway I think. We just play in a way that makes it really fucking hard for our centre backs, individually they’re all pretty good players. Baldwin in particular will go on and play at a much higher level than this when he develops a bit more consistency to his game. We play two genuine wingers at wing back and no defensive midfielders, it’s a tough job defending with that little protection.

We play a centre forward with no.9 on his back at right back and we still have the best defence in the league.

Just seen that Gillingham peno on the ITV highlights, Jesus Christ
Does look like he's never kicked a ball properly in his life doesn't it?

It's a weird one because he's stuck a few penalties away really nicely in his time here!

Is this confirmed yet? Not nice to see but potentially big news at the right end of the table.
More or less. Villa journo confirmed he's out for several months, as he's on loan and they'll have the best medical staff I'm sure he'll be back there for now so they'll know even more than us.

It is a blow for us but Wootton coming back is a plus.

It's horses for courses, we'll definitley miss Barry, particularly from a entertainment point of view but even the Crewe manager admitted Wootton coming on so early Tuesday actually did us a favour Tuesday night as it allowed us to get hold of the ball more. With Barry and Olaofe they are both more off the shoulder running forwards which suited us more in say the Wrexham game when they played a ridiculous high line.

Make no mistake Wootton and Olaofe with Madden off the bench is still a good strikeforce.

trust me, we can relate to what's it's like to have injuries to key players/forwards!

Despite being a potential rival up the top this season you never want to see these types of injuries and wish him a speedy recovery.

Nah mate, we didn't play a high line, just a huge gap between midfield and defence, and the defenders shit themselves every single time you got in between and ran at us. Unsurprisingly, we conceded every single time, too!

He looked too busy trying to very obviously give the keeper the eyes than concentrating on actually kicking the ball. Absolutely shocking that.
