Beat Macclesfield 1-0,not convinced on system we are playing,Macclesfield look a descent passing team but got nothing up front, but for me not missed the standard of refs, appalling from start to finish, love to see the 2 penalty shouts for hand ball, any Macclesfield cast some opinion, thought it was def hand ball from corner in first half stopping a goal and should of been sent off, plus local radio saying same, also how did the ref let us get away with time wasting like that, don't like it and not seen it for a long time but the showed

Yep agree the officials poor all over, but by no means the worse you'll see this season sadly! Can't say I thought there were handballs but if you're refering to the thing I think you are I have no idea how it didn't go in as looking like it was heading into the top corner then suddenly wasn't, so you may be right! (need to see a replay on that one).

Overall extremely disappointed not to come away from that with something. Think a draw would've been fair on a night that was lively but ultimately low on real quality by either side. York didn't have any really good chances but always looked dangerous from set pieces and we gave away a lot of free kicks. Ultimately one led to the goal which was a massive fluke as we smashed the ball into Fry before it rebounded into the net.

I said early on that this game would tell us a lot more about ourselves than Torquay, and you nailed by saying we create stuff but can't finish. Two missed 1 on 1s (one glorious opportunity that was poked agonisingly wide) and then Mackreth went on a blistering run past several players and then all he had to was pull it across for one of 4 Macc players for an easy tap in but inexplicably decided to shoot...

Only ourselves to blame for not getting a point. I feel both teams would need to improve greatly to challenge for playoffs.

We weren't brilliant, but dominated against an unexpectedly poor Barrow. It was a niggly game, which the ref had the opportunity to take control of early on but set a precedent by letting plenty go. Fair play to the decent number of Barrow fans, but their team didn't turn up.

Not a game I'll save for the wank bank, that's for sure.

Bit of a surprising scoreline but not a hugely surprising result. Young side on their first away trip on a Tuesday night, you're going to get inconsistencies in performance at this stage of the season. Bit of a downer after that excellent start we had at the weekend but nothing that can't be put right again at the weekend against Guiseley.

We were better than we were at Dagenham, but still not quite good enough and again a 3-0 loss. The difference tonight is we lost to a suspiciously offside goal after we had bossed the first half, a worldy from the halfway line, and a deflection, whereas on Saturday we were absolutely pulled apart. No need for us to panic yet.

We would have lost or drawn that last season. Incredible character to come back from 2 sucker punches, to go behind against the run of play and then to concede an equaliser late on, both could have made heads drop. Delighted for McDonagh on his debut, I'd be tempted to start him on Saturday now even though I like Harrad. I said a few weeks ago as well that Rutherford is better than people think, he's a really handy player and a workhorse.

I thought it was a mostly average game of football at Prenton park, not helped by Brabins negative tactics as soon as Tranmere went 1-0 up. Fortunately Barrow lacked any creativity and I can't remember Davies having a save to make. Thought Jimmy Norwood was a bit "clever" in getting the penalty to put some gloss on the score line.
That fat bastard Cook was my motm, whilst Barrows No3 looked decent.

Yeah, Anderton and maybe our right back Beeley were the only players who impressed tonight - totally abysmal football and tactics all wrong. We came to defend yet left two strikers up front, neither of whom came close to getting the ball for most the game.
Penalty looked legitimate to me, from up the other end. Cook didn't really show a lot, I didn't think, and was completely unmarked for a simple header. It was Maynard that impressed us, totally running the show from defensive midfield.
There are too many mistakes in our team (keeper and Diarra especially prone), and our two midfielders were awful.
Thankfully I can only see us playing this way against Tranmere and FGR this season, and the rest of the time I think we'll play okay.

If it's the block on the line you are talking about then I never even considered that he had used his hand at the time, although I'll be able to make a more balanced judgement when I've seen a replay.

I didn't get the best view of the goal but it looked a very scrappy one and came as a reward for the number of decent set piece opportunities you created.

As for us it shows that we need a striker who can score us goals. With the quick wingers we have we will create chances, all we need is someone to take them. We have one out and out striker in jack Sampson who Askey has a habit of playing him on the wing and he came up with one of his poorest performances in a while - his hold up play just wasn't there. The best chance for us came when McCombe was sent through on goal but like a true centre half he toe poked it and it went inches wide. We had enough chances to have won that game but as it is we lost and we can't complain.

Rovers did what was needed against a fairly subdued Barrow side, I had down for the play-offs, but no more than that. Good header from Cook to quell the taunts. Toss up between Hughes untroubled pushed back to left-back and Maynard for MoM.

We'll not score a more ridiculous goal all season. Draw may have been a fair result but it looked like it could have been hand ball on the line in the first half, either that or over the line as quite a few of our players protested.

We have some fancy new wrought iron gates outside the main stand, so we can't lose.

I expect this to be one of our toughest home fixtures this season. I'm going to guess 2-1, but that relies entirely on us sorting out our home form. 4,900 in the ground, and a fair few hundred from Barrow.

Ps is everyone else getting intermittent access to the site, and annoying pop up ads when they do?
Yes ....this is the first time I've got on for 3 days. I keep getting asked to download something, which I refuse to do.

DSL any idea what's going on?

I was depressed making my way to our match v D & R last night. I was bracing myself for a repeat of our 0-5 to Barnet 3 season's ago.

The reverse happened. D & R were lucky to get nil. Durrell and m-o-m Shaw scored worldies. I would have given Astles the m-o-m myself, but I've gone from believing we're doomed to at least a mid-table finish (possibly better).

1-1 draw away at Braintree, doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation of a better season.

It's all going to plan. BTW, get relegated, sell 900 season tickets and draw 1800 on a Tuesday night. How are you Tin Pot fuckers doing? :bdick:

FGR/Cooper cracking already?! Looks like FGR and Boreham Wood may have swapped roles in the money bag stakes!
What an arrogant man. I can understand he's unhappy with the way his team has started but taking it out on journalists is ludicrous. Journalists are there to comment on what they see and feel, it's their job and sometimes it can be harsh and agenda based, but the job of a manager is to remain professional and level headed, he did neither.

Whisper it quietly, but he's not even that good a manager either. Delighted we've got our pick instead.
