Women's football is a bit crap.

Women football is different from the men's ofc but nothing against it though I'm not much into.

And I think it's better to have women commentating on men's matches, as many are able to, than just getting beautiful women on tv to only read the sport news and keep mute while smiling when men are giving their opinions about it, that's so useless...

All this furore and interest in
womens footy that the tv channels seem to want to promote.
You don't half see some soft goals going in.
Mind you,I could be describing Crewe's defence there,I suppose.

The BBC show the world cup and the FA Cup final, BT show some WSL matches. I'm not sure that counts as a furore.

Will try to articulate my problems with the original post.

For one, what needs to be nipped in the bud? Should 51% of humans not bother with football because a Crewe Alexandra fan told them they're a bit shit at it? Should Jeff the warehouse manager not bother get up on Sunday mornings anymore because he's not great to watch?

If you enjoy a certain team sport, its semi-pros are just as capable of entertaining as the BEST MANLY MEN. Pulling off upsets, scoring wondergoals, team moves, tactical wars, muscling for the ball, desperate defending, unexpected quality, expected quality, rifts in performance, general passion and psychology trumping skill... I've been to games in the top nine of 11 levels of the pyramid and have seen them at all levels. I'd rather see West Didsbury & Chorlton win 2–1 than watch back that Man Utd vs. Blades game from a few weeks ago.

When we went to Boreham Wood on the first game this season we lost 3–1. Our left back was Scott McManus that day. Two days later, Arsenal entertained Manchester City there in the women's, and Scott's sister Abbie featured. Wasn't there for the latter but telling by the highlights I was at the wrong game.

Were you to crudely quantify international women's football as League 2/Conference standard, then yes I'm still up for watching a good game there. Maybe there are arguments to be made about the physiological differences between the sexes and how this should be accommodated in a pitch's layout and in tactics but I wouldn't know. If the players get enough backing to go full-time then that's terrific and a very positive influence for girls, very few of whom currently take amounts of exercise recommended for good health. In my own sport of fell running women were inhibited and prohibited until recently, have since done incredible things in their own right, and in some ultramarathons have even beaten the men.

Sorry if this really is a wind up and I'm not playing along well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the womens world cup held in Canada last year and thought the standard of football had greatly improved since the previous world cup, also when woman footballers go down hurt, they really are hurt, unlike the B grade actors in the mens game.

^^ exactly this. The game isn't as fast or powerful but I wouldn't call it 'bad', it's just 'different'. It's interesting seeing how the game is played when you take a lot of the strength out of it. It's pretty fluid in a pure football sense.

Also the amount of fully grown apparently world class men I see falling to the ground like they've been shot in the leg just because a defender is somewhere near them - that gives the women's game a certain honesty. Although I'd imagine diving in the women's game would increase in relation to the amount of money at stake.

And they've even got them commentating on mens matches now.
Time to nip this in the bud?

Ah, I see, so you want to introduce quality standards to society. If something's not good enough, it must be discontinued. But where would that leave you, then? Or Crewe...

Source? If you're gonna insult somebody using a quote, at least give them the source to confirm you're not full of shit.

Well it would leave me,personally,in a very good position,I'd have thought but I think you're putting an unwarranted slant on my female footy comments that I hadn't actually suggested.
As for Crewe...well,we've always been a quality club, even if we often struggle on the pitch.
