Stolen from the L1 section. Half way through the season now, so we've had enough time to cast an eye over new signings and such.

Ours is undoubtedly Tomlin. Flint's been excellent as well, but had that three game spell (Rotherham, Wednesday and Derby IIRC) where everything he touched turned to shit, but then has been back to his best ever since. Tommo slowly found his feet but if played in the middle is our best player every week by a country mile. Everything goes through him, we need to stop fucking around with this idea of him being able to play on the left side of a midfield four.

I would probably give it to Liam Moore, although John Swift, Ali Al-Habsi and Garath McCleary have all been excellent and will be in with a shout by the end of the season.

Moore has shored up our defence, comfortable on the ball, passionate with a great attitude. The one game he missed we conceded 5.. Stam spent all Summer trying to get him from Leicester, and you can see why.

Close call between Nathan Baker and Kodjia tbh... I'd just award it to Baker, our defence has looked so much more assured with him there. Cheers, Brizzle City.

Amazed he's doing well for you in a back three, was all over the place when he played for us last season but I suppose he's reaping the rewards of actually having a half decent midfield infront of him this season. Fair play to him.

Wish we could've had him back, what a guy.

Early season would have said Kieran Lee, now has to be Sammy Hutchinson excellent whether in defence or midfield, could definitely do a job in Premier league. Had it not been for his injuries I'm sure he would be starring in both Chelsea and England team. Very rarely if ever less than a 7 out of 10 performance.

Aaron Mooy, he is way too good for anyone at this level, we know we'll have to enjoy having him this season because I doubt we'd get him back even if we went up.
Kachunga an honourable second.

Sam Hutchinson staring for Chelsea, ahead of midfielders like Cesc Fabregas/Matic, or defenders like Luiz or Cahill? England squad?? Think your overrating him a little mate.

A little surprised as he was terrible for us in the Championship, looked erratic and couldn't win a header.

Probably a prime candidate for showing what a run of games can do for your ability to perform

Ours would have to be Hogan, Woods or Dean. Wouldn't say any of them have been massively standout, or consistent, but have had times where they are massively pushing the team forward.

Except for Ben Pearson who shut him down completely at Deepdale and didn't give him a kick.

We've had a few who've played well Clarke, Maxwell etc but it has to be Ben Pearson who has been quality so far, will definetly go onto bigger and better things.

Not now, but without picking up the injuries and spending however long out of the game I believe he would, think he was highly rated at Chelsea prior to injuries too. Wouldn't be at Hillsborough without what happened to him, so in a selfish way glad it happened. Imo he could of been that good.

Adam Webster. Had a few wobbly moments near the start of the season but he's been rock solid since, loves to bring the ball out of defence too and it's far too long since we've had a centre back who's comfortable on the ball. I've heard rumours of bids from Premier League teams in January; I don't think he'll leave then but wouldn't be at all surprised if he did in the summer.

Honourable mention for Tom Lawrence, in a lot of games he looks like the only attacking player capable of making something happen.

No he isn't, seriously, he was touted at Chelsea to be John Terry's replacement and but for those injuries I believe he'd have stepped up however he didn't get the game time or experience, he is a cracking footballer, perhaps we rate our own better than others but he was that highly thought of at Chelsea they brought him back after retirement. Says summat IMHO.

Hard to separate a couple of our players but it's hard to look past Gayle really. Has 17 in 18 matches in all competitions and as been pivotal in some important games (hat trick against Norwich, brace against Leeds away).

Honourable mention to Karl Darlow who has came in and been completely assured since Sels fell out of favour and Shelvey who has been key to some of our more dogged performances away from St. James' with only the obvious now being a black mark.

As already said, Ben Pearson.

Wasn't getting a look in at the start of the season, got his chance at Bournemouth in the cup and was MOTM and has been absolutely unreal ever since. He's exactly what we've needed in midfield for years. Comfortable on the ball, a seemingly never-tiring engine and a complete shithouse to boot. The sort of Joey Barton player that you only love if he plays for you but without being a c*** off the pitch or having a scumbag for a brother.

Will go for a big fee in the near-future I imagine.

Tomlin maybe but Flint? Bloody hell!!

Those 3 mistakes alone mean he is nowhere near our best player. Also a key component in our lack of Championship clean sheets covering 18 months. He'll still win player of season though cos he thumps the badge.

I think Pack has been best so far.

He's solid. Pack's been shite in this run of form, Flint's not really put a foot wrong.

Smithies has stopped us getting thrashed many a time this year. He was even MOTM against Newcastle when we lost 6-0, I dread to think what it would have been if he weren't playing.

Luongo has probably been our second best player. He is so two footed it is frustrating as he makes it look so easy.

Alex Pearce with absolute ease. The guy has had to be extremely patient, but he's not put a foot wrong since he came in after Shackell got injured. Unless because of injury, I don't see Shackell getting back in our team now.

P.S. Flint is shit.

He was man of the match in our game too, made some quality saves near the end to keep you in it.

Not saying he's not a bad player or anything, but there is a huge gulf of class between being decent at midtable/top half Champ club to staring in one of the best defences/midfields in world football. Injuries may have halted his progress but if he was really that good I doubt Chelsea would have flogged him to you on a freebie. Remember him having a spell at Forest, not sure if he was any good there mind.

They fucked up selling Matic and brought him back 12 months later for 30 odd mill, can't see Sam Hutchinson doing the same.

Alex Pearce, Liam Moore and Nathan Baker have all been nominated for player of the season in here by fans of clubs that will be in PO contention.

We had them three last year, two of them couldn't get into a defence that leaked four goals every other game.

Has to be mismanagement.

Ours would have to be Lewis Dunk. Just consistently quality performances, living up to the potential he's always had and seems to have erradicated the rash challenges/lapses in concentration that have let him down in the past (without wishing to speak too soon). Just grateful he's still ours and would love nothing more than to see him one day captaining the side in the PL.

Plenty of other worthy mentions based on the season so far (as you'd expect), namely Knockaert, Murray, Duffy and Stockdale.

Most players / systems work well a little by chance, or based on confidence. Much easier to play well in defence when the rest of the team around you is much better too.

Great game against us too, was looking for a while we wouldn't find a way through him, but then our runner up so far imo (Kodjia) worked a way past the fucker finally.

Yes it is but Moore/Pearce weren't even given a chance here.

It's not even about not having individuals, our side does look good but put them together and collectively they've been shite.
