Waited in the changing rooms for ages apparently because of a lack of ambulances.

Our game against Brackley was postponed due to a "waterlogged pitch"....Hmmm

Despite yesterdays win we still remain in deep trouble.

The only league wins we have managed since the 10th of September is a fortunate 3-2 win v Stalybridge thanks to a last minute winner. Daylight robbery v Altrincham last minute winner 3-2 and a fortunate 3-2 win v Telford yesterday where the opposition missed a pen and our keeper made a wonder save.

January looks like a pivotal month down the bottom too

Altrincham look gone and defeat for Stalybridge v Curzon tonight will send them the same way.

Very true. Jim Harvey did manage to make them worse, and his signings were no better than Young's. My biggest fear is that Doughty is retained, as he's now been assistant during two absolutely awful spells (Tolson and Harvey).

Matt Doughty confirmed as Altrincham manager until season's end. Quite a lot of people on our forum / Twitter actually appear to believe this is good news. Of the 24 games Matt Doughty has spent as assistant manager (two spells) or manager, 17 have been lost.

Yes if Darlo's not going to win the title (which is possible but not likely) then I want Fylde up and out of the way, if they missed out this time they'd just spend money and strengthen and it would be very hard to compete with a full time club.
Not our problem at the moment. Just think it would be brilliant to see them rot in this increasingly competitive league.

That will be Salford, Nuneaton, Harrogate and possibility of Fylde or Kidderminster or both. All full time next season. Looking like a tough league again next season.

Are Darlo full time or planning to go full time?

Nope part time for the forseeable future. We wouldn't have the finances to go full time, especially as we will need continued investment into the new ground. Not going to be FT unless we were back in the football league and the extra income that grants you.

Tbh it suits us to be PT we are the highest level PT club in the area. There is already a shortage of players willing to play or travel in the north east. If we were Full Time we would in theory be competing with Gateshead for players who are a league higher than us and also have financial backers. We currently sit in a rather nice niche.

This will be something along the lines of the Stalybridge model a few years back- full time as in, otherwise unemployed 20-22 year olds. :bdick:
I very much doubt it will, they have one of highest budgets in the league already.

Just got in from work to see this. Carries on the 7 year on-going joke of Weaver and Son. Like the verruca salts of football.
Daddy I seem to passing more money up the wall yet again, last season I got the expensive pitch, a full days training with the lads more coaches and like of Jon paul pittman dropping down from Grimsby.....what will really help is if we go full time. Embarrassing and desperate when you see likes of Guiseley etc do it the right way.

With our attendances and a questionable fits and starts commercial back drop it contradicts the boulder dash we are told that daddy Weaver is making the club self sustainable. For when he or his son jettison us.

We will go bust as soon as this duo leave. It is irresponsible but as is the way a fair few of our lot seem to welcome this.

Question is, should this news go on the tin pot thread? What do you think B2TF? Is this a new level for us in the tinpot stakes?

We are. Played our first game at our new ground share, with Darlington Rugby Club at Blackwell Meadows, on boxing day v Halifax. It is basic. And needs a lot more investment from the fans and the club. But it's back in the town and crowds have been up this season and can see us averaging over 2000 at home for the rest of the season which should mean a good budget and surplus to reinvest into the ground.

Darlington game want to invest in ground and then build team further as long as they can remain a half decent team in contact north. I hope they don't go up this season will kill club. Seen my 1st confirm north game when Darlington played Tamworth shows strength of that league

Read about him in Derbyshire times. Similar happened to a ex Newcastle player who was drug running after going out of pro game. He deserves another chance

Do you mean Andy Ferrell? He knew what he was doing, and had two current Conference strikers doing the dirty work for him...

I'm sure the Darlington fans are grateful for your "heartfelt" concern for the future of a geographical rival whose attendances over the past 4 years have shown up the pretence that Gateshead are still a real football club. Darlington's gates in the National League would allow them to more than compete with the money thrown at what is no more than the corpse of your club to maintain it in that league. Who knows, Neil Aspin could even be tempted to manage a real football club again, one that is closer to his roots that the last one. :bdick:

That's him yeah now manager at northern league Belington terriers. Had gambling debts apparantly

"Dave Bayliss is having a party, Andy Ferrell's bringing the Charlie" - I wouldn't bet against that chant having a ring of truth about it either...

Was a decent midfielder, but clearly wasn't right in the head.

Gateshead are closer to his routes he was born there and I think you will find Gateshead have more history than Halifax when were they formed, 2008? Wonder how much out the pound the creditors got when the old incarnation of your proper club went bust

They got less than they were offered- they were offered 1% but the taxman wanted 100%, plus interest , so because of that nobody got anything and we got a clean slate, so a big thumbs up to the taxman from me. :brill:

Another round of fixtures tomorrow then.

We are away at Harrogate Town who have only won once since September. We are unbeaten in our past 11 meetings with Harrogate Town including six straight victories. Hopeful of number 7 but would settle for a point as we are poor on our travels.

Game of the weekend - Salford v Kidderminster. Telford v Gainsboro also massive,
