When we started to look around this league after last year's relegation, we all thought Salford would walk it. I'm pleasantly surprised that Brackley are top with 5 from 5. Full respect.

Hopefully we'll continue to make a good show of ourselves, and push on. I don't think many York fans expect us to win the league, and most would be very happy with a playoff place. Anything other than a relegation scrap would be a welcome reprieve from what we've had to deal with for the past few years.
Welcome

More likely Shane Byrne. Arguably a better player. Armson more settled with job / PT footy i think.
PS
Byrne is a great footballer at this level - but does need to be part of a 3 man central midfield - would be a bit lost in a 2 man CM i think since he wouldn't get the space he needs to be effective

I've been told it's jimmy armson. We need defenders though, not midfielders

Told by whom?
Non League website says you've just signed a midfielder formally from Exeter
Armston's good - but again will only work if the shape of the team is right for his AMC position. Surprised at 27 he'd give up his job to go full time, but maybe the money's right.

We play with 3 centre mids. Always have done. I'd be slightly surprised now if he did come because we need defenders and as we've just signed this centre mid the other 2 must be defenders

Spennymoor look like a real team to contend with this season.

Yeah they've certainly raised a few eyebrows this season, and they've adapted really well in this league for such a small club. Only defeat coming at the hands of one of the promotion contenders in Brackley.
I cannot wait for Monday to see how good they really are, if we perform the way we did against Telford.
I'd have to say we'll get hammered by Spenny!

Kidderminster Harriers defender Joel Taylor has extended his stay at the club until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has impressed at Aggborough after joining on a short-term arrangement earlier in August.
The forward-thinking full-back will now be contracted to the club until the conclusion of the current campaign.

Such a small club? There's no such thing as a small club when you have a large chequebook.

With players like Chandler and Curtis in their squad they were never going to be also-rans.

I bet they produce the required ground improvements in time as well, the extra seats will just appear out of thin air - unlike us who are having to struggle to fund improvements from fans.

Been a great find so far, far better than Keane who doesn't look good at all.

Alfreton on Saturday, hoping Bradley bags a hat trick against his old club. Sorry DSL.

Haha. I bloody well hope not! My money is on a repeat scoreline from last year. If that does happen that will make our away record since Nicky Law`s last game in charge at Gainsborough -

W0 D1 L9 F5 A30 :bang:

About about the performance for me. We must react from Saturday`s unacceptable performance against Southport. If we compete for the 90 minutes and run you close and I will be happy. Any points we do get would be a bonus. Vital we win on Bank Holiday Monday v Curzon.

It wouldnt surprise me if Dan went easy on us like he did for the Coasters last year. Apparently he has had a limited pre season and is not even match fit?

Wow that's a shocking record.

And yeah he played 45 minutes in pre-season and has so far played just over 300 minutes for us. He's getting back to match fitness but not quite there yet. He did a pre match interview on our youtube channel and doesn't think he'll see many friendly faces in terms of the players and staff due to the complete revamp of your squad so he may not go too easy.

Interesting. Yeah originally he never wanted to leave. So can understand that.

We have just announced a new signing in the last few minutes

Winger/Striker Brendon Daniels from AFC Fylde. Thats a big sign of our intentions and that Lee Mullen is not pleased with how things have gone so far. Lets hope our manager actually plays him in his right position....

I hope to see Harrogate and Gainsborough promoted this season. Too long they have been in this league. I reckon York and Southport will go up though.

Can't grumble at Brackley's start - but the real hard work starts now. So far we've beaten the bottom 3 teams, team in 15th and Spennymore. Next 5 games will be a lot more competitive. Midfield looks good, still like our strikers to weigh in with more goals. A little more depth than last year's squad - subs adding value in matches. Good crowds - 3% of the small town's population turning out if we get 400 at home ... equivalent for York would be around 6,500 or Southport 3,000.

Unclear about strength in the league as so many sides still finding their feet, but still expect Salford to win it comfortably, 2-5th to include York, Harrogate, Darlington & Stockport, and then us, Kiddy and Chorley to be around the 6th - 7th 'new' playoff places?

Fear for NFU and Leamington (saw the Brakes twice last season and wasn't impressed) - FCUM looked poor, but a couple of wins could put a different shine on things.

Looks like Alfreton, Nuneaton and Boston's early hopes for a great season falling away - but tough to build a whole new squad from scratch and hit the ground running. Feel for those whose pre season hope is ebbing away...
Harrogate always start well but always fall away, can't see us being up there the way we're playing

How many signings is that? Swear your club said they were done at 13, gotta be nearing 20 now.

Its a 19th new signing.

We have released Billy Whitehouse though after just a handful of appearances. Mainly due to already having a number of wingers and due to budget constraints. A number of academy players have been sent out on loan along with goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe.

Have a squad of around 22 I think.

I think we are the last founding member of the Conference North, not to be relegated or promoted. One can dream. .

Of all the 4 leagues we've played in over the past 7 seasons the Conference North was the most exciting.
So much so that I think we might be going back there next season.

First time poster so just to say thanks all for putting so much effort into your posts. They've been great to read. Everything I've seen here on games I've attended has been spot on. Its definitely a league where you've got to fight for your right to play before you can think about winning.

Got to say for my first season at this level, I've been impressed. The York Darlo game last week was possibly the best 0-0 i've seen for a long time. Great fans as well for a Tuesday. Nuneaton game was a wake up call for York with Ashley Chambers the best man on the pitch in an average team.

Roll on the rest of the season. looking forward to reading more posts, contributing the odd load of rubbish and seeing how it pans out.

Darksithlord, it never worked out for Daniels. Looked like he had ability and couldn't once fault his effort he just never really performed. I remember watching him against us when he played for Harrogate and he was excellent so hopefully he can recapture that form

Fingers crossed McDermott can get the best out of him. He has failed to get the best out of Disley/Westcarr or even Wood though.
