John Marsden has signed for us, to say I'm less than enthusiastic is an understatement. Would much preferred to have signed James Poole.

Some Southport fans seemed to rave about him but saw nothing here that was worth of any praise really.

Boreham Wood have signed Conor Clifford. Absolutely quality signing, gutted we didn't bring him in on a full time deal after his successful loan. Boreham Wood really having a go at this conference next season.

Exactly my thoughts. A very 'meh' signing who did next to nothing from what i saw in pre-season; didn't look like he has any pace, power or technique to 'cause defenders trouble. Would rather wages have been spent on Poole, or even saved until someone else cropped up...

A back up keeper would be more beneficial.

We've signed Rob Taylor on non-contract terms. Tranmere fans I saw he played for you last season what do you think if him?

I've tried as best as I can to blank out any memory of the last two seasons! From what I can remember though he split opinions at his two previous clubs but some thought it was decent signing for League Two. He spent half his time here injured yet Micky Adams persisted to play him even though he was clearly unfit. I'm sure he also played left back, left wing, right wing and as some kind of weird roaming midfielder but didn't show much promise in any of them. In fact, I can't even tell you what his preferred position is.

Could still be decent though, I wouldn't judge any of last seasons players on the basis of how they played with an absolute clown of a manager in charge.

We were actually reported to have given Mansfield a bit of cash for his services. Totally unsuited to playing left-back where Adams mostly played him, but may have been more effective deployed further up the park. Might turn out half-decent for you.

Rob Taylor is a decent player, did well for us when he played, should be fine at this level.

2 more ex-Leeds signings for The Lions. Highly regarded midfielder Zac Thompson and 'keeper Daniel Atkinson. Seems Thompson turned down an offer from Walsall to join us (what's that all about?) Top signings though.

We've signed 31 year old goalkeeper Schwan Jalal who's made over 250 Football League appearances in the Championship to League 2. Very good signing and will be the number 1 I would expect.
I agree with the other Macc fans re Marsden although he reminds me of Boden's pre season a couple of years ago when he just didn't seem to be fully trying and we know how Boden turned out so who knows! Realistically, he's going to be 4th choice striker as well.

Yeah me too, though apparently he and Paul Lewis were close to blows after the Congleton friendly so whether JA doesnt see him as trustworthy then who knows. Jalal's a pretty decent keeper though, and there's no room for sentiment in this game.

played for Barrow on loan last season in Conf North - broke his leg in an away game in February so only just back to full fitness - very good player though. If we hadn't signed Ashton he may well have been on loan here again this season - highly rated young player.
