Reports read as though it sums our season up to a tee. No problem creating chances but not clinical enough while not being good enough at the back either.
Sounds about right. You could've had 3 or 4 with some better finishing but we could've scored a few more as well.

Well, nothing like beating a Hobby Club on the final day to finish in the top half. How on earth we have managed to finish 12th, I'll never know. We didn't win FOR THREE MONTHS. I suppose those 6 points against Aldershot and the Lincoln Pantywaists helped - we finished above both. :ds:

Nice for John Goddard to get the winner before he moves into the Football League.

And now for a few things....

Tally ho, old sport. Get comfortable in the Conference North thread. :woo:

I love this. You've been waiting on that for a while, haven't you?

Thank you. I'm glad the persistence of myself and others has finally paid off.

Unfortunately you haven't been punished for WHAT YOU DID to Braintree. Prepare to NEVER WIN AGAIN next season.

So it MUST be true!1111!!!1111!!!!!111!!!
Actually four points from your lot was a big help, looking forward to a similar gift next season

Cheerio,

Looking forward to next season already, if we can keep the spine of the team which im sure will be able to be competitive in the North, I fancy our chances. Its nice to have somewhat restored our pride with 8 pts from 18 from the start of this season, i'm happy we have a bit of stability for the first time in what seems forever.
Eustace/Gardiner have a big summer ahead.

Goals number 2 and 4 (yes FOUR!!) were probably the best team goals i've saw this season, both for and against us. Pleasure to watch. Snedker needs to go unfortunately, Tyrone had his best game in a Harriers shirt, either him or Arthur for my MOTM.
Knowing we were relegated in September when we were abysmally shit, has softened the blow.

Hopefully see you soon, the North looks quite tasty next year.

Glad this season is over, nice to end it with a victory especially in Barry's last game. Our chairman has come out and said we'll have a bigger budget next season, and hopefully with a good managerial appointment we'll be pushing top half/play-offs.

Play-offs are looking pretty tasty - think it'll be a FGR v Grimsby final but would love it if either Braintree or Dover went up.

Roll on next season... See you all in August!

Congrats and all that but I have a question. Is that Akinola under contract ?

Boyes was the best striker we'd had at this level for years, but Cook is way beyond that now - not sure Adam is still a force at this level, but that would be a good partnership!

Andrew Cook with another prolific season, the shock of it!

No matter what happens, Hurst's number one mistake during his time here will always be getting rid of Cook. I don't think I will ever get over it. Glad to see he's continued to do well for you although it's honestly no surprise.

25 league goals in the end I think - i'm sure he was 40-1 for top scorer and several did him each way at them odds - just wish i'd been one of them.....

Never got the big deal with Cook- when he was here, he was homesick which in turn made him lazy and finally fat. It's no surprise that he's doing well back home but I would never have him back.

Have to say it was a bit weird yesterday as Kinnear rested not just a few, but all the first team for the game, and after wathing what I assume was pretty much a full strength squad, playing FGR again in the play off's will certainly hold no more fear than Grimsby or Braintree, and am already looking forward to it Wednesday when the first team plays and seeing what, if any difference it makes.
Credit to the 40 or so FGR fans who made the trip for what was a meaningless game in many respects.Following the game we had the player of the year awards in the club house, which Miller probably predictably won as he has been superb since joinhg from Luton, but judging by the atmosphere, which was great, you would have been forgiven for thinking we had won 5-0 not lost.
Onto the lottery, and really can't wait

I am led to believe that we made Guiseley really sweat in the final few minutes yesterday. I can only assume the half time team talk was a bit of a rollicking as there was no way I expected to see a close final result!

Bit disappointing to end on a defeat, but the last few months have been mental so I can't say I'm too bothered.

Get things right this summer with regards to Nicholson, the takeover and re-signing some of these players, and we should be looking up.

Torquay certainly came out second half and played as if their lives depended on it. That and the Guiseley team hearing Halifax were leading 1-0 at the break which seemed to affect us to some extent. That long throw from Geohaghon is a bitch to defend!

That's that then. The biggest surprise was that it took until the final day to confirm things. While it was a grim season overall, there were a few highlights, such as beating Barnsley and Cheltenham.

Interesting times ahead. Back to changing ends at half time, and there are a lot of local away days I suppose.

Well, it's been a pleasure. Can honestly say I'll miss this league, although that's mostly because we've won nearly every week. Really entertaining game today, could've been more goals at both ends and Holman so so close to being outright top scorer with a chance at the end. Thought Lincoln were pretty dangerous on the break and Rhead, while not particularly mobile, won absolutely everything for them. Great to get the win in the end and finish on 101 points. Lincoln fans also seemed a decent bunch bar the 20-30 yoofs who spent the entire game embarrassing themselves. Rooting for FGR in the playoffs as it'd be nice to have a couple more El Glosicos to look forward to.

Pretty much agree with all of this, apart from the FGR bit. I still want Grimsby to come up with us. Also, full credit to the few Lincoln fans who stayed around to watch the Trophy presentation (looks much better up close by the way).

This season has been brilliant, from the summer right through to now, and this forum has been brilliant as well. The League Two forum has a lot to live up to.

The most predictable thing about the season was that as soon as the final whistle went our forum went into meltdown. Almost as if some people hadn't been paying attention for the last month.

Football fans are ridiculous.

By the way Lincoln fans -

Nicky was very postive about our prospects for next term in his post match interview. Which was surprising.

Didnt hear it myself but He seemed to infer that we had offered Dan Bradley a new contract and he had signed it. Also very exciting young talent BradMc Gowan has signed a 2 year deal too.

Read a bit ago on those o so reliable message boards of ours that Dan Bradley and Ross Hannah had both signed pre-contract deals with us for next season BUT that was before Moyses stood down.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if both stay where they are now due to us changing manager.

Still fully gutted. Can only apologise for our bellends - half ours and hald Leeds fans under the radar.

Macc can fuck off though.

Time wasting to get a draw in a game that meant nothing to them

As David says, with our managerial position changing I doubt he, if we had even approached him, would wait around although I suspect Alfreton would give him a new deal regardless given how highly he's rated.

We've got people who have been offered/verbally agreed new deals but the Board put a hold on everything after Moyses announcement. I'd have not been too chuffed if he'd re-signed half the squad up again and then stood down. The only one that got done, which was January/February was Jack Muldoon, which the vast majority will be in agreement with. Ended with 10 goals I think, so a good return for someone who spent most of the season out wide.

It was the home defeat to Aldershot that did for you I think unfortunately.

I'm not optimisic, I have to say. A lot of bad feeling towards the chairman, lots of deadwood in the squad, a strong Conference North next season...don't think we're on to bounce straight back.

Doesn't your chairman actually put in money though? Ours just paraded the pitch.
To be fair yes but nowhere near to same extent as he used to. Also his interest is clearly waning and he wants out! A few interest parties have come forward but frustratingly he hasnt relinquished the club. Several Directors have resigned in recent months too after being alienated.

We are desperate for a change IMO.

That would add up with what I have heard too. Apparently Dan was very much in 2 minds about staying or going. He wanted to stay but thought that perhaps leaving was for the best in terms of his career. Id be fucking delighted if it was true and he stayed with us though. Seems a very loyal lad

Yeah probably your new manager wont like the same players that Chris did of course . Hope you guys finally kick on next season with the investment and began to seriously threaten the right half of the table at least.

Oh and by the way I desperately fear for Ferriby if they go up via the play-offs. They are so unready for the Premier its untrue. Cant wait for North Ferriby v Boreham Wood attendance of 150.

Makes it harder to get rid if he still puts money in and if the club is dependent on him doing so. Hopefully we'll turn a corner now and push on.
