Well done Braintree on making the playoffs, a great achievement.
Whilst Borehamwood is a well run club I really was hoping they would get relegated as its a really shit place for a day out with no ale houses. Gutted to lose Halifax, no visits to the Three Pigeons, Paris Gates or The Big Six for me next season.
Up next at Prenton Park are Status Quo, I reckon they would beat Tranmere under Gary Brabin with Rick Parfitt having too much pace for McNulty!

However, I quite like FGR now, and I quite like their plans for a new ground. I'm an absolute carnivore but it's hard not find something loveably rouge about Dale Vince, maybe not what I'd want at my club, but being a bit strange and individual trumps those nefarious short term sugar daddies at least.

As David says, with our managerial position changing I doubt he, if we had even approached him, would wait around although I suspect Alfreton would give him a new deal regardless given how highly he's rated.

We've got people who have been offered/verbally agreed new deals but the Board put a hold on everything after Moyses announcement. I'd have not been too chuffed if he'd re-signed half the squad up again and then stood down. The only one that got done, which was January/February was Jack Muldoon, which the vast majority will be in agreement with. Ended with 10 goals I think, so a good return for someone who spent most of the season out wide.

Pleased Muldoon is stopping, huge potential.
Craig Stanley has a new deal too I believe after playing enough games to trigger a new deal.

I got to speak to Vince at Womad last year and I was actually pretty impressed with him and the answers he gave at a QA session chaired by John Snow.

Whether you agree or disagree, like or dislike, Dale Vince and what he stands for it is impossible to dispute that he is a man with principles. He cares about this planet and the impact we are having on it, he wants to do something about it, even if his ideals and methods come across as a bit strange at times. Moreover, he doesn't really care if people are offended when making his point, a prime example being the animal welfare virtual reality goggles at a match a couple of weeks ago. I suppose ultimately he is saying that we only have one Earth, once we have wrecked it by our own stupidity then that is it, better find another planet to inhabit.

Dale Vince is weirdly incredibly shy, he wasn't let into the directors box at Dover yesterday and gave his ticket to his driver to get some food and drink, very nice gesture, a very genuine man.

DV divides opinion, but he has always put his money where his mouth is and has backed his managers. He is very ambitious and that obviously puts a lot of the BELTS backs up, as they think only teams that were lucky enough to be in the football league (not through merit) for a long time for some reason deserve to still be there now. Since promotion and relegation has been introduced, clubs have found their natural level. Teams like Grimsby, Wrexham, Lincoln etc are in non league because they deserve to be non league, and would have probably been non league far earlier had a fair system been in place from the start.

I enjoyed the game at Guiseley yesterday. 303 Torquay fans there to celebrate our survival basically, and the game was pretty low down our priority list. It wasn't until we were 3-0 down that I heard anyone shout something angrilly about the game, and only heard two upset fans all game. It was nice that we came back into it and gave everyone something to cheer, and Harrad had a great chance to equalise late on, as did Gerring twice.

The Guiseley fans I met before were all friendly and it suited the atmosphere to have them celebrating survival as well.

For us, the important thing now is to keep Nicholson and give him a budget to get us back into the top half. I think the squad we have now could achieve that, so I'd like to see quite a few of them stay.

Btw enjoyed yesterday far more then most games under Pennock. Felt like there was a real togetherness and spirit around the club, and great to see academy lad (and boyhood FGR fan) Joe Stokes play 90 minutes in the first team, another real prospect, our academy is starting to churn them out.

Looking forward to another visit to the Crabble on Wednesday, should be a cracker.

I can't speak for Wrexham or Lincoln but in Grimsby's case since 4 divisions were introduced we have only spent 13 seasons in the basement Football League division and most of those were at the top end of it until the Mike Newell era, but please don't let hard facts get in the way of you spouting more of your bile.
Maybe try researching a little bit before posting so you don't look so much of an idiot as normal.

This is only our 7th season out of the FL in 130 odd years. Before my time, we may have had a situation where we should have been relegated but we're about as much of a L2 Club as you're going to find in terms of historical positions within the football pyramid.

I certainly don't see our natural position as Conference Premier.

The point is, had promotion and relegation existed from the start, many clubs who spent a long time in the football league might well not have done, and many who have been in non league for most of their history might have been in the league for a long time by now.

The only difference is some clubs got lucky enough to be elected into the club, while others were locked out for nearly 100 years. So what's happening now is things are being allowed to naturally sort themselves out. This applied further down as well, which is why some clubs have had to come up many divisions since the system was finally sorted out to get here.

You can't judge a club solely by their history when comparing to a so called tinpot one because there wasn't a fair system in place. Who knows, had we been elected near start of the 20th century, when we were capable of drawing big crowds (1000+ for big local games) and were in the same league as Cheltenham, we could be deemed a so called proper club by now.
