Does he work hard enough defensively for Mourinho? Wasn't that part of the reason that he allowed Mata to move?

If you managed to get £70m (ish) for Hazard, I'm sure he'd be able to bring in a couple of Mourinho-type players with the money he recoups.
I still cry when I remember we let Mata go to Utd and got Salah/Cuadrado a season later. Unbelievable when you think about it.

The biggest Mourinho fuck up in terms of letting a player go is without doubt De Bruyne. He's exactly the type of player Chelsea need right now given how shit Hazard is playing. The thing is, I recall he was very good for Chelsea on the rare occasion he was given the chance, it's not as if he was a shit player being moved on who then came good. It made no sense at the time and makes even less sense looking back.

He did use that money to bring Matic back though, so in that sense it evens out a little bit.

I do agree with you that in the few games he played for Chelsea, he generally impressed.

The reason he left (the story Mourinho is going with anyway) was because he didn't want to fight for a place in the starting 11....He wanted guarantees he'd start games. At the time we had Hazard Oscar Mata and Willian.....there was no way he was going to be an automatic starter.

Same reason Lukaku left apparently too.

Certainly did. Mourinho regrets how it turned out....I'm sure of it.

Would you swap Hazard for De Bruyne? I'd be tempted personally.

Too soon to forget how good he was last season. He's come back unfit from the summer. By Mid November I'd like to think he'll be up and running again. He was a lot better against Kiev.

Did Jose Mourinho ever have a plot? I see him more as a one time viewing of Lost in Translation. Or like Cormac McCarthy's The Road - it's lauded, but does it leave a lasting satisfaction or is it just temporary pretension about his polarizing prose? I.e. a false bubble of plaudits because everyone was too afraid to label it boring and no one sits around reading it every fall.
Strange analogy there. The Road isn't really considered vastly overrated, is it? I've read it about four times and I still think it's brilliant. Does anyone ever sit around and read the same book every fall? If you're gonna use The Road to draw similarities with any of the big name managers in football, then surely Wenger's career over the last decade or so is more fitting? A cold barren landscape devoid of any substantial prizes. The only hope being that when Wenger eventually succumbs and snuffs it, the kids he has worked so hard to protect might not get passed off onto a family of cannibals.

I was commenting on the (relative) lack of a plot in The Road rather than its merits. A lot of its success comes from a polarizing style and it isn't a book which gets read a second time. Granted it wasn't perfect as no one reads the same book annually, though I do reread a few after time has passed, but The Road doesn't have the same lasting "classic" legacy as books like Catch-22, Slaughterhouse 5, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc.

Arsene is Tom Bombadil, mate.

Jose Mourinho video: Footage shows Chelsea manager in angry exchange with second teenage fan

New footage has emerged that appears to show Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in another angry confrontation with a teenage fan.

Sonnie Burgess was with his friend Otto Nahmmacher when they spotted the Blues boss walking along a Knightsbridge street on Sunday.

The 16-year-old attempted to take a photo alongside Mourinho but his request was ignored.

Mourinho also rebuffed a second plea for a photograph before turning around to point his finger at the youth, who claims to have been ' genuinely scared' during the encounter.

Burgess exclusively told the Independent: “I love Chelsea and I love Jose Mourinho and I lost so much respect for him.

"He was my hero and now it’s crushed everything. I’m a season ticket holder but I’m thinking of cancelling it.

Oh fuck off you sad bastard.

The press are getting a bit desperate now. It's funny to see their love-in with the 'Special One' is under pressure though.

I would like to calmly point out that Mourinho is clearly the best manager in the world.
Chelsea's outstanding performance and, let's face it, fairly historic victory over Villa last weekend more or less proves my point.

You haters should remember that it's quite difficult to manage a PL club when you have a Russian oligarch breathing down your neck for 90 minutes every week.

Think yesterday's imbroglio answers the thread Q.

Any truth in this "£40m severance" stuff? I suppose if he's on £10m a year for four years...

We will beat Liverpool that's the thing....we'll beat them 2-1 with a scrappy Sahko OG with 5 minutes to go. But then we'll lose to Stoke away the week after and I'll be on this forum hating on the horrible bastard Mourinho again.

It doesn't matter how shit Chelsea are playing going into a Liverpool fixture, they will up their game and come away with a point minimum.

I can't see Mourinho turning this around. There's too much water under the bridge....IF he manages to get us too 4 from where we are now he deserves an awful lot of credit.

If he's going to go the club need to do it asap. Get someone in until the end of the season...someone who can get us playing again (a little bit like when RDM took over in 2012).
