Our goal looks even better on the highlights. Strangely both of Harrison's one-on-one chances are missing, but a fair reflection of the game.

I take your point but Johnson was barrel chested. Unless Cooks back is bent in at the lower part he's just got a big belly.

I suppose Cook being the player he is it shouldn't make any difference. He's just a big awkward sod wih an unerring ability to score goals.

He does have a bend in his lower back - I've never really seen anything like it. He's always been stocky, but wouldn't really have said he was ever fat.
He's also got bandy legs and is pigeon-toed, which makes the fact he can actually play a bit all that more mystifying.

Look at Matt Rhead sprinting for his first goal!

It was the corner I was talking about, it's never good to have a keeper flap (? Struggling to find words for what he did..) when crosses come in, it will cost you loads of goals.
The first penalty was a bit soft, Margetts just dragged his leg back, clever, although I don't like that.
Habergham has a great throw then, real weapon.
I thought it was more for the push in the back. Could have been either.

I usually like to read what opposition fans say about us when we have played them, it's often amusing, clubs own shortcomings aren't really mentioned, it's far easier to paper over the cracks and slate the opposition (all message boards do it.) Reading the Woking forum you would think we only had one directive, played route one football and bullied them for the win. How dare we use Rhead to play a part in all three goals! Priceless.

Every single match we played last season, opposition fans bemoaned our direct style - for the second half of the season we were playing football up there with the best in the division. Yeah we have big players, and that's Cox's thing, but often it's just because the fans have heard we're a long ball side that they focus solely on that.
To be honest, I don't mind our style of play at all - I'd rather that than watch a team pass it about but never get near the goal.

Only last season that a highlights programme started!

Had to rely on the tinpotters who do free highlights to see any goals unless you were subscribed to the 'Player' package, which I was until last season.

Couple of cracking goals from Macclesfield there.

Also, how fucking tinpot is the camera work for the highlights down here. If we were in any doubt that we were now non-league...
To be fair, all of BT's cameramen are unpaid volunteers. BT just provide the equipment and some training.

It's like they've over bid for the PL rights, gave away their product for free and are skimping on wages to compensate...

Personally I thought you played well on Saturday, you were solid and had a gameplan which worked - doesn't matter if you play direct or possession football if you win.

That said, having watched the highlights I still have no idea how we came away from the game without scoring.

Yeah, the McClure chance that hit the post, and the one where he fell on his arse at the end - those felt like certain goals, plus where Livesey somehow cleared it off the line. I think we had the more good chances, they just weren't as clear cut.
Probably a bit of rustiness from both sets of forwards that will improve in the coming weeks.

Clinical from Lincoln, terrible defensively though, both the right back and centre back got beat way too easily. North Ferriby look shocking, no fight about them at all, no pressing in midfield, letting markers run off the back of them with ease, everything they weren't when we played them in FA Trophy final, all change now though.

Apparently Aldershot refused to let our cameraman film. Is this a normal thing at their ground??

I don't know why there is a rock tune in the background but that's an awesome strike, curled to perfection.

Were we playing with a proper ball? That looked like it was going for a throw and suddenly it ends up in the bottom corner!

Guiseley v Wrexham

Our penalty doesn't look as dubious as a few have said. It looks very clear that his arm was away from his body, might be slightly harsh given the distance he was away from the ball, but it's one of those unnatural places to leave your arm.
McDonagh looks a super player, has confidence to turn his marker and run also which is brilliant for a big man, great leap for his goal too. Some nice moves from us in those highlights.

Your style of play is how we played in the national north and the early games last season. Worked in the North but we got picked off on the counter in this league after dominating possession for large spells but failing to put away our chances against better quality players.
