When we got relegated from L2, there was an obvious increase in the NL with regards to gamesmanship.

Since we've come back up, I was expecting it to clear up again but it's the same if not worse at times.

So what you're saying is that every League that Lincoln enter sees an increase in gamesmanship, how interesting I wonder what the common factor is.

I'm not saying this is what happened, as I wasn't there. But our main commentator (who is usually unbiased with this sort of thing) is arguing that the ref had given a free-kick and run off to restart the game before being pulled back because of Raynor and Evans going off on one at the lino.

My view is that's irrelevant, I'm of the opinion that Wright knew exactly what he was doing and simply nearly got away with it.

In no way defending the deadly duo they both need to pipe down and get on with their job but they didn't instigate this.

The guy is right in that the ref had given the free kick and turned away but the linesman stayed well away from the technical areas and radioed the ref who then came down got the info and sent him Wright off.

All 3 reds where correct and Johnson going to the stand I wouldn't have objected had Raynor gone with him either to be fair.

If you get relegated from L2, player wise you're no-where near the level of, or capable of, gamesmanship because you're generally a bunch of wet lettuces otherwise you'd not go down.

I just think on a whole the style of play in L2 has shifted, quite dramatically IMO, since we went down and even more so in the last 10 years. With that brings a different sort of game and generally you find the less fluid sides (and this league is full of them) are happy to tactical foul, waste time etc.

Also the 'I slipped' argument is stupid. Is he trying to overturn a red card or explaining to a nurse why he has something stuck up his arse?
We already have a winner for the end of year awards 'post of the year'.

it's still a harsh decision though - had he gone out of his way to trip the ref or something i'd understand

The trouble is no footage has been seen of the incident so far. Whether there is another previously unseen angle could be crucial. Otherwise it's all on the referee's say so.

Ah yes the frivolous appeal clause.

When was the last time this was extended to a PL player?

No surprise but Khan's appeal failed. It was never going to happen.

"Furthermore, the Independent Regulatory Commission increased the player’s standard suspension of three matches by an additional two matches as it considered the appeal had no prospect of success."

http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/jan/...-match-suspension-230118#.WmeKWZkSdP0.twitter

Frivolous appeal clause activated then. No surprise really. What a tool.

I think the last time we appealed anything as pointless as that was this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/29116180

Needless to say we lost, Apparently kicking someone up the arse in a "jovial" manner still counts as violent conduct, strangely.

Unsurprisingly the FA upheld both red cards for the Cheltenham players

The quote from Cheltenham is laughable at best- "At present we can only assume that they were unable to view the incidents clearly due to the distance of the video camera from them and the lack of a clear angle to prove an obvious error by the match officials."

No need for clear video footage. The FA probably saw Danny Wright's name on the appeal, and made their minds up immediately.

Plus Cheltenham don't tend to do too well dealing with the FA.

Whatever Cheltenham and Lee Johnson’s Dad think about as Evans and Raynor’s touchline antics they’re certainly matching them in the embarrassing stakes with the whole reaction to this.

Easy to say when we got the points though:cool1:

"All accounts"

Are you having one of your funny turns again?

In fairness, I don't really have time to focus on things down towards the bottom of the table.

I suspect that's as close to an admission that you do talk some right old shite as we're likely to get.

Absolutely - we could be on 50 points in January!, It's a fucking change not to have to worry!

Lucky for you. We won't be on 50 points even if we played right through to next January.

A few seasons ago we didn't even make 50 and somehow stayed up with 7 points to spare - so yeah, it's nice to be in this situation!

Big game at the bottom for us tomorrow, we owe Stevenage after what was possibly our worst performance under Lester so far. Hoping for 3 more points to drag us further up the table. The next 3 games for us are massive really and we could get some decent points on the board. Still expecting more incomings and outgoings so it will be interesting to see how we do.

Remember this thread boys? https://www.onefootballforum.co.uk/...e-we-had-a-poll-evans-cowley-or-cooper.15353/

It's looking increasingly likely that Luke was right when he said, and I quote - "I think all three will still be with their Clubs come the final game of the season."

If FGR wanted to sack Cooper they would've done so by now. OTOH, Cowley and Evans have not been tempted by any L1 or Championship clubs yet, and the probability is they'll see out this season with their clubs.

Bad news for League 2 fans, Danny Hylton's injury isn't as bad as we feared last weekend.

He probably won't play tomorrow, but you never know he might be back for next weekend.
