I think it probably a reference to the perception some Mansfield fans have become a little 'big for their boots' this summer. I don't blame them though, our fans would probably be the same if we had signed a load of new players and were title favourites for likely the first time.

Anyway, the striker Mansfield have had a bid accepted for is Scunthorpe's Tom Hopper, he of 'racist Thai orgy' fame. However, with 3 goals in his last 33 apps last season, not quite sure he is the 20-goal man they were looking for?

I personally don't know any of our fans who are behaving any different to at any other time. We never hold particularly high expectations and usually anticipate disappointment. However, should we have a successful season, this is one fan who would plan to enjoy it. Ever so sorry.

Unfortunately, as with any club there will be fans out there. I guess County fans will have previous experience of "buying the league" so I guess feedback is always welcome.

As for me, whereas the additions are welcome, it will be the standard "get to 50 points and see where we are" like every season.

Taking into account only 2 seasons ago we didn't reach 50 but still survived, it's a good way of grounding yourself.

Some of the threads on Stagsnet have been frankly ludicrous, and I hope that fans do keep things simple and realistic and go from there.

Still waiting for Wigan to confirm the status of Kaiyne River Woolery. Coops reconfirmed we're in for him on a loan deal again earlier this week.

Been said many times, but our players and staff are not required to eat a vegan diet. So the food bit is completely irrelevant. As for ambition, you aren't likely to find many more ambitious owners then Dale Vince.

You know where I stand with Dale Vince, I have no trouble admitting that I agree with what he stands for. I know he did some things at FGR that didn't go down too well with you lot, like changing the club's colours from black and white to green for ex, but his principles are only to be admired. Having said, he could better himself if he took a stand and decided that only veggies and vegans could play for the club*. Speaking as a veggie myself, I find it a bit odd that meat products are banned from TNL and yet his players (he's the one who coughs up their wages right, so they're effectively his) are allowed to tuck into whatever the fcuk they want to stuff their faces with.

It reads to me like double standards. But I still admire the guy for having the balls to embark on his mission in the first place.

The club just doesn't sell non vegan products to customers, or serve it to players and officials on match days, as it doesn't fit with Ecotricity/DV's green ethos.

You can get vegan meat that tastes the same as meat and looks the same... I've tried it and couldn't tell the difference, couldn't find a photo but the one below looked similar. And my friend made me the mac n cheese pictured below and again tasted better than real mac n cheese... Vegan food when done right is no different to any other but incredibly healthy. Theres a vegan pub in nottingham and I've been a couple time and had fish & chips and bbq ribs.... both were incredible! Got nothing against vegans and can see why its becoming more and more popular

I could be wrong (I rarely am but it's still a possibility ) but IMO vegan/veggie athletes are stronger than those on an animal based diet. And anyway, this is not the 1900's anymore, there are loads of athletes inc. footballers who are vegans and veggies, or at least try to refrain from eating meat products whenever they can.

But I digress. Could well be that my idea of having a whole squad of veggies is a step too far, and very hard to implement if the club wants to be successful. But what I certainly don't agree with is that home and away fans to TNL can bring in whatever food they want in with them. Kinda defeats the whole point of FGR's ethos doesn't it?

Anyways, I feel strongly about not eating animals so it would be better if I stick to the football.

Or you know instead of eating pretend meat you could actually just eat meat!

I would be delighted to have Tom Hopper, yes he may have had a poor season goal scoring wise but I think he definitely has real potential given he gets a confident start.

I can confirm that I have signed a beefburger for my tea on a short-term contract. Discussions with the salad broke down at an early stage and I will not be pursuing a deal but I understand it is now in negotiations with Vanni.

As you know, the common misconception is that people meat is banned from the ground when it's not. It's just not sold in the ground but no-one stops you taking a ham sandwich in.

And of course, Dagenham's 'keeper was allowed to play at TNL.
