We had 4 defenders plus 'keeper out on mix of internationals and injuries/suspension (Toto I'm talking about you) but no excuses. Stevenage are shite and we are always complete turd against them.

Not checking in here yet as we have firepower enough to keep us up but this is a terrible result. If I post in here after the Yeovil game then it means we're quite possibly in the excrement.

I'm seriously worried now. Baffled as we started so well, no idea what's changed but we've just turned into a fetid lump of pigeon lime.

Just visiting .!! ........normally we find 2 or sometimes 3 worse than us ......I reckon there's 6 this year ...... if you are reading this and are supporting a relegation threatened team , 10 points adrift is overturnable ( real word , possibly ) in 5 games /4 weeks ......nil desperandum

11 shots in 6 games. Unless McGurk can spark into life after his injury, or Barry Corr makes a return in Oct we're in a dogfight this season, no doubt about it.

Derry has got until Morecambe, if he doesn't get 3 points, I think he's gone.

You had quite a few shots against us although only the goal was on target and that was more of a slide than a shot!

If you're relying on McGurk sparking into life then you are in big trouble. Disappeared for us in too many games last season. I've seen more bottle in a tin can factory.

He looks like our best bet at the moment. Barry Corr has been 6-8 weeks away for the last two months and it now seems we won't see him until Christmas.

Nah, we'll be fine. We're the Mighty U's after all :err:

Seriously though, I think we will be, but only when Derry gets the boot. Problem is who we'll replace him with, as I'm not seeing a lot of unemployed good managers around. Anybody reckons we can tempt Ronnie Moore to leave Eastleigh?

Be careful what you wish for, the Ronnie Moore 'great escape' is pretty over exaggerated.

We manged to string a few wins together in March that season but still only stayed up due to the ineptitude of both Tranmere and Cheltenham that season.

We should really rename the relegation thread to the 'who will finish below Hartlepool (relegation) thread'

Although I agree with what a lot of U's are saying/thinking, I've got better things to do than worry about relegation at the beginning of September.

If the board (Jez/DD) decide we need a change of manager in the next month or so, that probably rules out another "Won Twice at Wembley" this time around. If Derry and the team can manufacture a way of scoring and a couple of wins from the next 4 matches, a fit Barry Corr offers the prospect of an enjoyable winter of football and awaydays.

Plenty of room for gloom and frustration if we go into December in the bottom 4, out of the FA Cup and with no functioning strikers. See you in November. :bye:

So you accept we won't be relegated ! .....it appears to be one of life's certainties that we won't go out of the league , something always happens one way or another .....believe it or not , we haven't actually finished bottom since 1961 , most of our record breaking successful re election applications were due to us finishing 3rd and 4th bottom , comfortably safe by modern standards

Tshibola and Mirfin were great signings out of the 15+ loanees he signed, any other season bar the one just finished we'd of finished bottom on 45 points, he definitely had an impact but to say he worked wonders is a massive stretch and like you say season after was a disaster.

Not sure why you're baffled. One look at your squad and it's clearly absolutely dreadful, even for this level. Won't go as far as the 'cannon fodder' comment I made about York this time last season (and got pelters for), but if you finish outside the bottom six or seven I'd be amazed.
