FYI an operations director is someone who directs operations...

Seriously though I find it an interesting move. It's good to be reminded that the conference can be a strange place as it's where full time and part time football meet. A manager of a small part time club picks up a lot of the necessary admin tasks that can be left to others in larger or full time clubs.

The implication would be Watson was good at that side of things, and the new manager won't be asked to do this stuff - whoever it is.

Managers scouting at a fairly local club when their team isn't playing shocker.

Seen all sorts of managers coming to our games, from the likes of Steve King to David Moyes. Doesn't mean we're about to appoint any of them.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if either Garry or Richard Hill were on the shortlist if that job becomes available. Pennock would probably throw his hat in too.

I'm not sure what to make of the Burr appointment. There was a time when I would have loved him as our manager, but things seemed to turn sour for him at both Kidderminster and Chester, which makes me suspicious that he's lost his touch. He's apparently good mates with Watson though, and who knows, maybe it'll work with Watson doing most of the scouting and community liaison work and Burr sticking to managing. Time will tell.

We were 3rd when we sacked him. The only thing that went sour was our dodgy ex-chairman's view of him. We'd hit a small slump in form, but it was still a baffling decision to get rid at the time. Didn't work out at Chester for whatever reason but I can't believe he's suddenly become a bad manager.
