Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is off to Arsenal. No Giroud in the transaction apparently. Not sure if he'lll get a lot of playing time but having both is a good option for Arsenal. Very contrasting styles indeed. Hopefully, this move can finally launch Lacazette's international career.

Monaco DM Tiemoue Bakayoko will sign for Chelsea next week. Will be interesting to see how Conte will use him and Kante. I'm quite appalled at how many posters don't rate Kante after the couple of seasons he's had. Very surprising. This probably means that Fabinho will stay at Monaco as they don't want to sell both (we just bid 45M€ for him).

Benjamin Mendy (Monaco LB) has decided he wants to join Manchester City next season. However, the club doesn't want to sell him.

What do you make of Lacazette, do you think he'll be a success in the Prem with Arsenal?

Personally I think he'll end up with the number 9 shirt, which bodes poorly for him. I think the last person to have a successful Arsenal stint as number 9 was Anelka?

So Gab Marcotti and now this guy Lee Price who supposedly knows all about the Bundesliga; has suggested RB Leipzig and Liverpool will reach a deal on Naby Keita :

'Price said: “I’ve heard Liverpool will definitely sign Keita and Red Bull are now just trying to get as much as possible for the player.

“Keita caught Jurgen Klopp's attention immediately upon arriving in Germany - scoring the winner against Dortmund on his debut for Leipzig.

“At the minute, Red Bull are playing hardball, but have already begun moves to replace Keita.

“Personal terms have been agreed with the player, who will offer an energetic midfield option which is capable of dictating the play.

“His agility will suit Klopp's high press, while his technical skill will provide someone who can carve a defence open.” '

None other than Leon Osman reckons the signing would be an "incredible risk". Then again, he also reckons Keita is a pure destroyer.

"It does seem to be a big part of the Premier League but I think to go out and pay £70m for a player who, with all due respect, is just destroying, and he [Keita] has only done one season of it, it's an incredible risk as far as I'm concerned.

"Whether Liverpool have watched him longer than that and have seen what he can do over a number of years, I don't know, but he's not been on my radar for very long with regards to watching foreign football. It's a big price tag."

Yes but this happened to Iniesta early in his career too.

Ok we know you dont rate defensive mids that much, but Kante is not a Makelele type of player. His game is nothing like it. Kante actually crosses the halfway line. Hes a box to box player who excels in the defensive side of that role.

Perhaps I should have made it clearer but I wasn't saying they were hence the use of 'combative' midfielder . The modern clogger comes in two guises depending on what type of players there playing with and the system.

If you are playing with the deep lying playmakers which obviously again vary in their defensive aptitude and passing ability but I suppose range from someone like Matic and Carrick on the defensive side through to Pirlo and Scholes being much more focused on playmaking and a number 10 you'd be best suited with a runner, like Kante, Scneiderlin etc. Whereas If you have let's say you have a more industrious creative midfielder of which Modric and Pogba are currently the cream of you would want the dm who sits such as Makalele .

My main point was that central midfielders whose sole qualities are defensive ball winning and simply pass the ball sideways in possesion (Kante is not the most limited but is still relatively so) are vastly overrated as individuals and can be far easily replaced than any other position. That's not to say they are useless and they are almost always needed to balance the system ( though obviously not always). But players like Kante are not elite players.

Lacazette is hardly comparable to Perez or Francis Jeffers though. He knows where the goal is and can adapt depending on personel (playing a bit deeper/on the wing to get the ball). He's a 20-goal a season striker. I have no idea why no one else isn't in for him. He wanted to go to Atletico but they have a transfer embargo. I reckon he considers Arsenal as an ok plan B (because of the lack of Champions' League football) but he'll be a hit there.

As far as I know Keita said not long ago that Liverpool were already interested in signing him last summer, so I think Osman is really taking the piss here

According to @makadjiamadou Liverpool will send an offer for Naby Keita TODAY. Keita is due to meet the Leipzig president tomorrow. Says that Klopp spoke to Keita yesterday and also Keita has an offer of €150,000 per week.

Didn't he score like 10 penalties last season? Still has a good record over the last few years mind. I haven't seen him play for a long time but he looked shit hot playing with some other pacey fella last time I had any interest in Ligue 1. £52mil for a 26 year old goal scorer hitting his peak. Seems about right nowadays tbh.

Fekir was the man before he got injured. Not really progressed since. Had Arsenal written all over him.
Beauvue was fast, but he was also gash.

Fekir was superb before breaking his leg. He hasn't been the same since coming back from injury. Hasn't got in touch in front of goal back which is worrying.

Beauvue is, always has been and always will be absolutely fucking shit.

Yeah I think they'll bid 57 mill which will get rejected then later bid 63 mill which will get the job done.

I'm very pessimistic when it comes to our transfers, I never rate them don't watch youtube and buy regens on FM but this Keita guy has actually got me a bit excited. All reports say that he's really, really good.

Now let's get that defender and we could challenge for the title imo. There I said it and I don't even feel shit about it yet.

PSG have apparently enquired about Coutinho and been told he'll cost them 87 million.

Barkley must be worth 150mill in today's market.
Neither are a patch on Drinkwater though eh. ;)

Barca were told that was the price for Coutinho earlier in the window as well which they baulked at. Suits us putting them off the scent anyway. Why are PSG wanting Coutinho when they have Draxler?

We're not buying dross and it'd kind of be on par for us to challenge now, four years since our last almost year.

Titi Camara‏ @TitiCamara22
From what I'm led to believe naby has his heart set on #lfc move. Leipzig have been informed of his intent and are looking for replacement

Also, apparently Keita was not in Leipzig new kit release video/pics.

I didn't actually believe it would happen until Titi Camara said it would.

Welcome to Liverpool Naby.

He looks like a perfect fit to slot straight into your midfield and massively improve it immediately.

Excellent signing if it comes off.

Thanks mate classy of you to say.

How about Griezmann though real shame that didn't come off for you guys, he would have turned you into contenders. Real shame indeed.

We're after Iborra from Sevilla for 12mill. Good player but seems a bit unnecessary other than for depth.

Our midfield is pretty strong tbf, but apparently Keita is superb so would improve on that for sure.
