I take that £200k figure to be bullshit?

200k, with us I doubt it would even be £200! Obviously dont know much about our financial past with signings. Still think 75k was our highest ever transfer fee, Victoria was on the throne about the same time :2thumb:

If you like your defenders to fly in with hard challenges that get you off your feet then Wood is your man. The Lincoln derbies used to be class with him playing, you could guarentee whoever the Lincoln left winger was would know they'd been in a game. Don't confuse that with an aggressive liability, I can't remember him getting sent off for a brutal challenge. Brilliant passion in the bloke and great energy. The thing that saw him out the door here was the way his gung ho defending often got him caught out, he's not a right back for a top 5 side imo. However in mid table you'll do well to get better.

Thanks, hope this rumour turns out to be true then, we still need a lot of bodies to make even a reasonable squad. Don't expect us to be anywhere near a top 5 side so mid table is probably most likely.

As I said, I'd be surprised if he did go given his love for the club. But a job is s job.

I wonder if we might be one of the clubs interested in him, we're after a winger to replace Norwood and Ajala played under our assistant manager at Welling.

Maybe so. It'll be a decent signing for whoever does get him, I think.

Someone on our forum has apparently been told by some Wrexham fans that we are after Andy Bishop. I don't know how true that is.

Great player. I would sign him quickly before someone else snaps him up.

Barry Smith is hopeful of securing Jim Stevenson and Sean McGinty after discussions with both.

http://www.theshots.co.uk/barry-pre-season/

Would be a great start if both sign, they were 2 of the 6 I would have kept from last season (Of the other 4, Oastler is contracted for next season which is good news too!)

Some good comments from Smith too, and interesting that he thinks we had a decent squad last season but we didn't get enough out of them as a team!

As he has started following the club's Twitter (and no other clubs) we are rumoured to be signing Danny Rowe from Fylde.

It is literally the weakest link I've seen for a player signing for a club.

We released him last season.

Technically sound, powerful shot, strong but lacks the mobility to probably do what he wants to do I think. Just doesn't have that burst of pace to get away from people or get a yard of space.

Surprised he's scored so many this season along with Adi Yussuf, who we also released last season albeit he was injured for 95% of his time here.

Massively over stated. Leneghan was awful and McGinty was just average.

To claim McGinty is one of the worst loanees we've ever had is dreaming. I can name 3 worse just this season!

Fylde pay big part time wages and Rowe is based in the Blackpool area it would be odd for him to jump ship.

Rowe couldn't cut it in the Conference. Barrow had him in the relegation season. Officially dubbed the "laziest ever player to play for Barrow".
Only scored so many this year because Fylde had some great wingers, and unless you've got that, he'd be a waste of a decent wage.

Could be a good signing, could be shit. He was our top scorer and had the most assists this season but regularly went missing on the pitch. It seemed the pressure of a second relegation battle got to him and after the January transfer window (make of that what you will) his performances got worse and worse. A fresh start with him playing a more advanced role could be what he needs, although in my opinion Wigan or another team challenging for automatic promotion from League One is too high a level.

Good luck to the lad though, always nice to see a fellow Rovers fan wearing the shirt, just a shame he'll always be remembered as a part of one of the worst sides we've ever had.

He is off to Wigan by the sounds of it. I would imagine they can offer more. As for the compensation, it would be about £100k I think. We're a non-league club now, so will probably get shafted even more than we used to. He's got potential and scored 13 goals from midfield last season, but he isn't the type to tackle or track back so playing him where he will be useful will be key. He's got 130 appearances under his belt and he's only 21, so he has loads of time to improve. Whoever signs him is getting a bargain.

Apparently we're after Ritchie Sutton from Mansfield, don't know much about him but four red cards in one season when he was at Nantwich is a shocking disciplinary record!

I'd cry if it was Mahon or Heneghan but the rumour is McConville back to Accrington.

Surprising. I heard he had a great engine.
