Woking fans - any thoughts on Jack Marriott?

Ipswich local journo is claiming on Twitter that he's signing for us. I remember him scoring a ton of goals when he first signed for you a few years ago, heard nothing since. Is he any good? Central striker or more of a wide player?

Thanks in advance!

Really good player in his first two stints with us, his third one was pretty average. He's more of a central striker, decent player to partner a taller target man, like he did with Rendell for us. He runs around a lot and always gives 110%, will be a good player for you

Small but stocky and has a lot of pace about him - similar build to Andre Gray. Was dynamite when he first came on loan with us. Then he went to someone in the league and barely played. Came back to us and didn't score as many. This season he came on loan again and struggled. Everyone expected him to set the world alight like he did before but it didn't happen. Wasn't sharp as he hadn't played at the league clubs he'd been on loan at and looked dereft of confidence because of the limited playing time he had in the Football League. Despite him not scoring as frequently, it always looked like he was just about to hit form and he usually had a 7/10 which is the reason he kept his place in the team.

He certainly has the potential. It wasn't luck he scored all those goals for us in his first spell. He always played in a two up front so can't say what he'd be like by himself. Given his size I can't imagine it would work. Great at chasing lost causes in behind the fall backs and stretching the defence. I'd have thought his confidence would be lower than ever having just been released so get that back and give him some game time and the goals might just flow again.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback! Surprised to see he's still only 20, so plenty of time on his side.

Toby Ajala has turned down his new contract here, so will probably go elsewhere in this division, I'd imagine.

Decent at this level, although one of the more frustrating players I've ever seen. Work rate cannot be faulted, but sometimes overdoes the stepovers and so on. Still, would have liked to keep him but fortunately wingers are a position that seem fairly easily replaceable.

Barry Smith is hopeful of securing Jim Stevenson and Sean McGinty after discussions with both.

If this is the Sean McGinty was on loan at us from Man United a few years back, his attitude was shocking and we sent him back shortly after signing. He was promptly released by United not long after and Fergie was rumoured to have been furious with him for the way he embarrassed them.

Someone on our forum has apparently been told by some Wrexham fans that we are after Andy Bishop. I don't know how true that is.

It is, and we had him on loan towards the end of this season. Our fans love him and he's a brilliant player at this level to be honest.

Fair play, if he has knuckled down and put his obvious talent to use, then I would agree he would probably be brilliant at this level. His attitude when he was with us though was awful and I'd be worried how someone has gone from Man United to National League level so quickly with his ability.

Not sure if this has already been posted but we are allegedly in for Bradley Wood from Alfreton, though think he is still under contract there?

Someone on fishy reckons there is new board member at Lincoln who is putting money in to fund a promotion bid and the info has come from a player they are about to sign.

Could be Wood!

That guy is very good friends with Bradley Wood, it's where all his info comes from.

I'd be shocked if Bradley signs for Lincoln. He's Grimsby to the absolute core.

Doubtful. I imagine the Co-op would prefer their money back before we spunk shit loads up the wall on players!

There was a Board/fans meeting a couple of weeks ago (a representative from each forum/fundraiser group) and at that point, nothing had happened r.e. investor(s), although one of the potential one was sat in on the meeting. The Chairman said it would be with a view of a Director investment (£75k), not anything stupid.

Is Bradley Wood decent then DSL? Not saying that he will sign for us as I have no idea, only the rumours on several Imps boards

Yes. He has won our player for the season for the last two years in a row. He is very versatile also and can can even chip in with goals as a penalty taker. With 7/7 for us this season. He also has a mean cross on him and he almost single handedly enabled us to beat Southport 4-2 at home back in February. Scoring once and assisting the other three goals! Without a doubt IMO our best player and most consistent performer and a very good signing at this level.

If you like your defenders to fly in with hard challenges that get you off your feet then Wood is your man. The Lincoln derbies used to be class with him playing, you could guarentee whoever the Lincoln left winger was would know they'd been in a game. Don't confuse that with an aggressive liability, I can't remember him getting sent off for a brutal challenge. Brilliant passion in the bloke and great energy. The thing that saw him out the door here was the way his gung ho defending often got him caught out, he's not a right back for a top 5 side imo. However in mid table you'll do well to get better.

Yeah, just the Eastleigh fans notion that Barnet paid circa £200k for an out of contract Akinde from Alfreton last season!

Is he the player that signed for Barnet, then realised that Barnet was down south.

I wonder if we might be one of the clubs interested in him, we're after a winger to replace Norwood and Ajala played under our assistant manager at Welling.

Yet he was absolute garbage for us in the limited game time he had.

Surprised he played well for you but good luck to him
