The Mason Mount loan is great for Derby but a horrible move for him. He was better than Kluivert in the Eredivisie, and while one goes to play for Roma he's stuck in the fucking Championship. Feels like Chelsea doing Lampard a favour and sticking him in the shop window more than anything else. I don't know why parents let their kids sign contracts with Chelsea any more.

Jack Byrne tore it up in the Eredivisie and is now in L2. Awful standard there.

In an unrelated matter we’ve resigned Cal McManaman from Sunderland on a one year deal. Gives everyone a boost but he hasn’t played at the standard he can for a long time, fingers crossed that an arm round him from Cook will do the trick.

If Cook can get him on a similar training regime to that of Powell and get him fit to play regularly then we've got 2 of the best attacking midfielders in the division. Our spine is looking very strong, just hope we don't decide to sell anyone!

Good player if his heads right though saying him and Powell are two of the best in the division is scandalous.

Not really, when they're fully fit and on their game they've proven themselves to be top players in this league with McManaman tearing apart several top Premier League sides when he played at that level. Both got the talent to play in the Premier League it's injuries and other factors that have harmed their careers so far.

When has Powell proven himself to be a top player at this level?

He's decent don't get me wrong but he's not that good barring a half decent League 1 season.

Yeah, wouldn’t have either of them over any of our attacking players.

Powell has proven himself in League Two with Crewe and last season League One with Wigan. He's never done anything at this level, good chance he can step up though.

As for Callum Mcmanamanaman he's one of those players who will never realise his potential because he's probably a bit of a cock, last chance saloon.

The days of our Cal tearing Man City apart are long gone. Legs aren’t the same as injuries have taken their toll. Not played a full season of football for years. Still got enough in the tank to be a good Championship player though. Powell on the other hand is mustard.

Top scorer in our Championship playoff season in 13/14.

7 league goals that year.

I called McManaman even during that Citeh game. Forgot injuries or whatever else - he has nothing to his game besides kick & run.

Yeah, bit of a head scratcher from Chelsea's point of view. If he goes to Werder Bremen and has two solid years both domestically and in Europe he'd have a chance of competing for a place at Chelsea on return. A good year in the Championship aint much to go off for the elite teams, Tammy Abraham a good example. Can see why Chelsea fans are frustrated but for us it's hopefully a quality coup.

Worth noting that Chelsea had accepted both our offer and the 2 year loan offer from Bremen... maybe it's the people around him that need a word.

I can only assume that he thinks Lampard will be uniquely capable of refining his game because they play/played the same position. Off the top of my head though I can't think of a single example of Chelsea (or hardly any club?) incorporating a player into the first team off the back of a Championship loan. Kane and Barkley got gametime in spite of their time in the second tier, if anything.

Pickford did from his loan spell with us but not top 6 which I assume is what you meant

I did mean any actually so yeah that is a decent shout, seems like Gunn will get a first team place at Southampton off the back of a Championship loan too come to think of it. I suppose goalkeeping is a bit different though.

Yep very different as clubs reluctant to try kids in the net if they are PL clubs.

Didn't a large number of the England squad learn their trade in the champ? Also dutch to champ is a good progression.

By definition, if a club is willing to meet it, the valuation is not unrealistic.

Same with houses, cars, old hi-fi, asthma inhalers for Tour de France cyclists.

I think the difference with Brentford is they are always willing to sell. Good business model. The only improvement I'd make would be to change all their names by deed poll to Portuguese names. Then us and Forest would pay double.

Strong rumours that we've beaten Sunderland to Mo Eisa and he's about to sign for us. £1.5M by all accounts.

I can't say I know much about him TBH Cha. I would have thought he had Brentford written all over him, it seems to be their type of signing,
We were interested but the numbers our side didn’t stack up for anything over a million.

Stats say he could be good but massive gamble, we only pay that much if we’re pretty sure it’ll come good.

That makes sense MB. Once the new stadium is online, with the extra revenues that will bring, I would imagine you would have more licence to take the odd 'gamble'?
The fact that you were interested makes me feel positive as your scouting is spot on, seemingly every time.

Stadium won’t make that much of a difference, it’ll help, but until we get parachute payments it’ll all be very much the same.

Though our strategy is clearly working over time. Bought two players this summer who would have broken / are close to our transfer record

We also are basically the only reason David Beckham got in the United side :shifty:

Non matchday income won't make a difference? It most certainly has for us MB.

Club still expect to have a bottom - 8 budget in the league, it just won’t be bottom - 3 anymore!

If our transfer strategy keeps producing the results it has over the past couple of years, that’ll be a much bigger bonus.

Patrick Bamford has stolen a living off loan spells.

What happens when you come from a c*** of a club like Chelsea, unwilling to give youth a chance so they just treat them all like shit and send em wherever. Expect players like Lewis Baker, Izzy Brown and Loftus-Cheek to go the same way.
