The hype for Klopp has been much more OTT. BT must've had the camera on him for 85 of the 90 minutes of his first match in charge.
Pet hate. Broadcasters also do it when a manager's under pressure. Let the football set the agenda, you TWATS.

Not really been more ott than when Jose came back or LVG arrived. They try to make it a story which is pathetic but it's all part of the soap opera they weave.

United are surely the worse team to watch this season, and I include Chelsea in that. He has a lot to answer for, surely no one associated with the club is happy with the mundane crap he serves up.

I think your lot still edge it, for now.

You think Liverpool have been better to watch than United this year? I think you've been culpable of weekend analysis.

both styles of football make me want to cut myself. man yoo take a fortnight to get a shot off and liverpool play with 3 shit tier number 10's and a slightly cheaper version of andy carroll. both clubs ought to be ashamed.

Maybe they should emulate the play styles of Newcastle then, the Barcelona of the Premier League... :ds:

Yet we've scored three more than Liverpool. Didn't think that through too well did you Dragon breath?
We are just talking about United here. For all the slack Rooney gets, the midfield has been pretty poor too.

Honestly I thought Rooney would score 20+ goals this season when I heard Van Gaal would let him play as the central striker.

To be fair, while United are currently outscoring Liverpool, it won't stay that way unless LVG makes some changes.

Apologies if this has been posted already this week, but did anyone read the above article? Scholes needs to pipe down and let LvG get on with it. 6 clean sheets out of 7 since Arsenal ripped them apart (which was only for 20 minutes) is fantastic. Not had chance to watch the highlights from the WBA match yet, but from what I've seen of Lingard as well LvG should be given a bit of credit for giving him a chance. From the few sub appearances I have seen of him, he reminds me a bit of Sterling when he first started playing for Liverpool. Obviously, very early days but it wouldn't surprise me to see him being an important figure in the manager alleviating these complaints. As GD mentions, I'm also surprised Rooney isn't hitting the back of the net more. Are the Man Utd fans of the opinion that this is LvG's fault? Wasn't a central role where they all wanted him playing?

Unfortunately for us Lingard is about 6 years older than Sterling when he broke into the first team. There is no real comparison. Sterling is an elite level talent Lingard is not. But Lingard is a good talent in his own right and I could see him becoming like Park was for us. A really important effective player who won't always start but can relied upon to put in performances at times exceeding expectations.

Rooney definitely should be scoring more, no excuses for him really. Unfortunately he has just declined at the wrong time, he isn't even the player he was two years ago. We need to sign a striker this summer for sure.

Van Gaal definitely should be credited with his willingness to play kids. The knives were out in the press last year when Welbeck and Cleverley went only for him to play Blackett, Wilson and Mcnair. This year when Januzaj, Blackett and it looked like Wilson went the press started again with articles about how he would break Uniteds consistent youth player record.

As it is, Lingard is almost definitely a first team squad player going ahead and debut's have been handed to Peirrera and Borthwick Jackson with others making the bench. Once again the press have been shown up as the hyporibolic drama queens they are.

6 years? Is that right? I thought it was more like 4? Anyway, I wasn't saying that they are necessarily comparable in terms of level or what they could/will go on to achieve. Just that there are similarities in the way they play. Mainly, an almost fearless gung ho driving forward mentality when they have the ball at their feet. It's something Liverpool certainly benefitted from when Sterling came through. It wasn't a comparison that has any great weight or bearing on anything, merely just an observation based on the limited amout of Lingard I have seen.

6 clean sheets in 7 maybe, but they're hardly breaking any goalscoring records are they?

Problem: they're only defending as well as the three best chance creating teams in the league. You can have a strong defense without being dull. Is top 4 enough for LVG and a squad with the 2nd/3rd highest wages in Europe?

I don't think our wages are that high. They don't justify the football, but I doubt we're paying as much as Real, PSG, Barca and City. The amount of wages we got off the books in the Summer is insane. Granted, I'm being pedantic.

Ahead of Arsenal and City and looking likely to get out of our group in the CL

It's fair to say your ultra negativity surrounding Van Gaal is bollocks. He is doing a good job.

We've spent money but we have lost a whole squad and still been outspent by city. Arsenals solidity and lack of changes combined with adding 3 (actually 2, Cech isn't ) world class players in most peoples eyes means you should also be ahead of us.

If we finish above either he'll have done a great job. I reckon we'll finish third in the end which is good enough.

An odd time to take issue with thespus's point given that Liverpool scored double what United did yesterday.

It wasnt that post in particular I had in mind. Just whenever I see Thespus post about United it's always to have a pop at Van Gaal or put a negative spin on something. at United.

I don't think Van Gaal's results can be argued with this season. He is doing what is expected given the money spent. But I'm sure you'll agree that the style of play he's had you playing is less than enjoyable to watch. However, he wouldn't be the first manager to bring success by utilising it and the bottom line is that success is what matters.
