Bastian Schweinsteiger is on 275k a week, and he wasn't even starting for Bayern when they signed him. Anyone with a brain knew he was past it . Van Gaal is a fraud.

BBC, Sky sports and a simple google search would indicate otherwise. Just under 15million a year he's on. Do the maths.

I thought we were doing pantomine?

Anyway this was the same British press that were reporting his transfer fee as 15 million plus until the fee was confirmed by his old club as 7 million. Actually most still cant be arsed to use the right figure.

I have no idea why people continue to bring up reported fee's and wages as a beating stick as its clear the press simply make it up as they go along. None of this gets shared by the clubs and the papers just make up whatever figure is the largest but still just about beleivable.

Neither the Sky Sports nor BBC confirmed transfer page mention this salary.

He's been underwhelming regardless of his wages.

You seem to have some serious beef with Schweini and I can't figure out why. Sure he's not the same player at Bayern in his mid 20s, naturally, but apart from the games where the team collectively played shite (whether tactically or poor form) he's been a very important player at United. There's been many a occasions where I noticed us losing control of the midfield after - what's become - his obligatory 70th minute withdrawal.

And regardless of who's wearing the captain's armband, Schweini is very obviously fulfilling the role.

Whenever I see him I can just think of him on the top of a tank in leather on a blitzkrieg in the war.

Looking back at that sentence it sounds very sexual!

LVG just publicly criticsed him. He suits a side with slow build up play and boring tactics. Look at your matches against top sides and midfields that move the ball quickly - he was dismal at the Emirates. It's not that he's a poor player, I think there are several tactically disciplined (but unfashionable) players that could replace him.

Look at your defense of him - "apart from the games where the team collectively plays shite". Is he immune from responsibility for United's sluggish midfield.

I have seen Schweinsteiger play well over 100 times. I'm grateful for his contributions in the World Cup, but there is a revisionist tint to his career - he never reached the generational status of Scholes, Pirlo, Xavi etc. He was never as talented as an Özil or particularly athletic.

I'd take Louis' public scrutiny - which I find bizarre - with a pinch of salt. He's shown a serious lack of consistency in how he's dealt with individual players i.e. Rooney, Herrera etc

No he isn't, and you're right in highlighting his mobility (or lackoff) against quick tempo midfields. But United's midfield is sluggish regardless of personnel, off the ball movement is shite as LVG doesn't like the risky pass and would rather retain possession. We slowly pass it from one wing to the other until a poor cross is delivered and the move (if you can even call it that) is dead. Probably why he loves Fellaini so much.

I can appreciate you've watched alot more of him through the years, but I'd still maintain that given the makeup of our squad he was a great signing especially at the quoted price.

"One day you'll be a shit c*** as well as a fat one and, on that very day, I'm coming for you - do you understand what I'm saying to you? And don't try disguising yourself with some kind of wig because I will be able to recognise that scouse accent. On top of that your hair replacement technologies are substandard compared to our German ones. Take a look at Klopp's barnet, do you think that's real? Well you are wrong."

Van Gaal, "They say a club like Manchester United has to win. That's the past. " This sounds Moyes-esque.

It's a pretty embarrassing thing to say when you consider the money he's spent so far.

United need to sack him and get Ancelotti in. Although I wouldn't want that to happen :D

Schweinsteiger shouldnt be playing every single game, when we did the rotation with Carrick it worked well but hes played quite a few games in a row now and that wont get the best out of him. I think hes added more of an intangible quality to the midfield which has helped in the defensive organsiation this season and did secure two vital goals recently. He just needs to be managed more carefully, I think hes been a great addition. I dont know why more of the players arent getting much blame, Van Gaal doesnt tell the team not to attack or score goals, the team is generally very well organised hence the best defensive record in the league but for the possession we have that the players dont create enough chances is down to them on the field, in most games there have been 2-3 good opportunities and it could be a very different story we are looking at.

People forget United havent played consistently good football since 2008 and even then it was a 1-2 season thing, as much as I love Fergie the look back on this apparent free flowing football every week that took place is ridiculous, performances were average to good on a weekly basis for the last few years of his run and the last title we won was not full with tremendous performances despite the winning point gap. Scholes and Rio can talk about the embarrassment of United going into the Europa but I bet werent making such comments about Fergie when we finished bottom of the group with those players in the side just a few years ago. Perhaps the players need to feel they can take more risks as perhaps there may be a fear of making a mistake or getting dropped but the players need to deliver.
