nah i recon your just a player, maybe two off a very good side. As i said in my report you reminded me of us this time last season.......solid, but toothless. we then added adam Morgan, scored goals for fun and won most of our games then he left us and went back toothless, then got warburton near end of season scored goals again and started to win.

you just need that player to support Beck as he won't score the goals for you.

This being the Beck that scored 19 last season for us?

Says a bit for what Gray did in the summer that when I just found out he'd gone I was a bit Meh. Don't get me wrong he is and will be for a very long time Darlingtons most successful manager. But call the fans, who had raised hundreds and thousands of pounds over the years for the club to grow and build, an embarrassment was a step too far. He was great, set us up very professionally. But even after fans invested even more to guarantee him the same budget as last year with which he finished 5th, he has done nothing but bitch and moan about it not being enough. Truth is he has got a good squad but since the end of August he has failed to motivate them, organise them and prepare them to win games. We still have a top 8 budget I have no doubt but it was never enough anymore. Could you imagine a manager like John Flanagan with those embarrassment of riches? Mark Bowers will have less at BPA and is getting better out of them.

In addition it sounds remarkably like Gray has been tapped up by York. To which we should be expecting compensation. It would be a beautiful irony if it was Gray's parting gift that his compo would bring the ground up to standard for the playoffs.

I know the club has come out and said we're sticking with Atkinson and Great till the end of the season. But in truth we are a club which still has the potential to grow and establish into the league abobe. Im sure there would be plenty of managers interested in the job should applications open.

Ah fair enough. Maybe I am basing it from watching him at Carlisle, but he looked desperate for a scorer next to him on sat

Interesting week, sharp turn around in management,
Grey says today he will be bringing 3 players this week, sounds like splashing the cash to try and catch Harrogate.Only question is Grey any good, but certainly looking forward to not playing 4-3-3 anymore.
Wonder if any of new signings are from Darlo ,def need a keeper lost count how many pens worsnop has gave away.

Tonight we've signed James O'Connor. Don't know much about him but he was released by Walsall on deadline day and judging by their reaction to our announcement it seems like they want him to still be in their squad so it sounds like a cracking signing.

Hall
Pearson - O'Connor - Horsfall - Taylor

As a defence is a brilliant defensive line.

Well what an eventful weekend another crap performance down at Curzon! No manager.
Martin Gray threw his toys out of his pram, what next? Let me think a mass exodus of players leaving the club?

Na, good luck to the guy he's always been ambitious, he served us well, and I'll always be grateful for the good times he's given us at the club over the years.
He might as well go, the players aren't playing for him going of the last two away performances that I've seen.

I wonder whats the odds of him taking Adam Bartlett, David Ferguson and Josh Gillies with him to York?
That would be the icing on the cake!!!

Well I can imagine Gillies and Ferguson being interested In a move and we could certainly do with strengthening in those positions but I'd be surprised if Bartlett quit his job at Boro?

Compensation has been agreed. We get a preseason friendly at your place, likely attended by two men and a dog, and we get to keep the proceeds.

Ferguson is way, way too good for this league so has full time ambitions, therefore York would appear to be an obvious move with a full time contract and an ambition for league football. I thought he would be snapped up by a league club at some point but obviously the Gray connection makes this transfer a 99.9% certainty.

Gillies - another one who would jump at the chance of full time football, is capable of and has played higher. On his day he is unplayable, the trouble is he only has one day in every five or six matches. As he hasn't consistently done the business for Gray, I'm not so sure that Gray will come in for him TBH.

Bartlett - apparently he quit his full time job at Boro a couple of weeks ago. He's the best keeper in the league, York have a rubbish keeper - this is another obvious transfer if York are looking to strengthen. I'd be staggered (and happy) if he's still a Darlo player a couple of weeks down the line.

To be honest Dave I couldn't help but point out that he scored 19 last season when you said he wouldn't score goals - BUT - he doesn't look like scoring at all this season to be fair.

No argument about York's rubbish keeper. Sounds like York are on the right end of a deal for once. Surely McNamara hasn't done he something decent?

Shame for Darlo though. Best team I've seen this season at our place.

Yeah that was some game up at your place. Felt like the good old days being back in the football league.
Great atmosphere between two well supported clubs that night.

Back to Adam Bartlett he'd be a huge loss for us if he signed for you guys, which looks inevitable.
He's saved our bacon on numerous occasions this season, and his incredible saves at the likes of Chorley, Southport and Boston were a delight to watch.

On a side note, I've been told no Ferguson, Bartlett or Beck in training with Darlo tonight?
Whether that means anything, we shall see!

We've signed Rene osei kofi. Former Ajax youth player. At 18 he was sacked by a club Ajax loaned him out to. He had an argument with a player, stormed off, got a gun from his car! He reportedly pointed it at his head and had to be calmed down by other players! :eye:
On the other hand, he looks mighty happy to be here on the picture posted on Twitter!

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Tough tough ask for us at home to the league leaders this Saturday...but guessing Salford and Brackley may be hopeful of some dropped points here as we took them off both of those clubs.

We still don't have Cummins for this lad game of his suspension which is a mammoth blow as our replacements cannot head, scrap or hold ball up so attacks will be minimal.

Game plan I expect is to frustrate, to stop nearly anything in the box, let them have chances, but few of them being clear cut and just 'have' to take our chance she we do get that small 10-15 minute spell......worked vs Brackley and Darlo, we are much harder to break down and give away much less good chances these days.

Harrogate plan is simply to really score two goals

We have had a pretty terrible 10 days or so. 5/6 first teams have picked up knocks which has meant we had to name 3 academy kids and a our 60 year old assistant on the bench in the FA Cup...which when you signed 22 players in the summer is far from ideal and demonstrates the mish mash of players we signed. Add to that impending suspsensions for Tom Allan who has been our best player recently and Bradley Wood.

Add to that a flat league defeat at Spennymoor, an embarrassing loss to local side Selston in a friendly and bitterly disappointing early exit in the FA Cup at Stourbridge which means we miss out on vital FA Cup prize money.

Despite all of that we really need a to picking up 3 points on Saturday because our upcoming fixtures are tough, a trip to 3G Tamworth then consecutive league games against Harrogate,Salford and York. Hoping for a return to home comforts on Saturday against Chorley.
