Doubt he'd be kicking off shortly after arriving about the guy who has given him a chance in the FL and letting him start every week.

Ranieri made Danny Simpson a regular in a title winning side and he still snaked him

Sticking my head above the parapet here, and this is the view of an outsider but I don't think it's a terrible decision, yeah they sold Bogle but he has been indifferent this season, give the new manager the summer to make signings and see where it takes them. Timing is a bit strange as to why it's now, not the end of the season.

Absolute joke of a club. Said on here when he was appointed that the fans would more than likely drive him out just as they did hurst. And you were doing your best to I'll give you that (see the fishy).

But it looks like the players got there first hahahaha unbelievable.

It's one big combination of the fans not happy with experimenting in league games, players refusing to sign contracts under him and Fenty not agreeing with his vision, eg needing more backroom staff which is also something Hurst was unhappy about.

After taking it all in I think Marcus has just done things too fast for everyone's liking and he eventually lost control. I still think it's a horrible decision, once things had settled down in the summer and the ones that wanted to fuck off did, I think he'd have turned out to be a success. Not immediately but we were never going to be in a scrap. Marcus was unfortunately too naive in his role. Massive shame as I thought we were all about giving managers time after what Hurst did for us. I have no doubts he'll go elsewhere and be a success.

Why not give Bignot time first? Sure he had Jan to sign a few players but he also lost our best two on the final day.

If it is a players revolt that has caused this decision its an even bigger embarrassment, the moment you let the players know they have the power to pick and chose their manager, what happens of they don't like the next one?

I thoughy Fenty had learnt that giving managers time was a good thing, how many clubs have long term success sacking managers all the time?

Also if it really is Slade coming back then he is already onto a loser with our fickle fans so that won't work out very well, at least Bignot had a few weeks before they started moaning!

That russel slades had a few clubs. Is he first point of contact for any lower league club? And no clubs sacking managers every season rarely get far just look at sunderland

After reading around a bit (with that 100% accurate internet), it seems there are a combination of things.

Think Bignot moving from part-time to a full-time team has caused a bit of havoc. The senior players complaining is apparently due to Bignot 'not being able to run sessions properly'. Said if he was going to stick around, they weren't. Can see their point but they've gone about it horrifically. The rumours that McKeown threw a strop because the double-sessions affected his school run don't reflect well on him. I can't see many of the senior players being here next season anyway, whoever is manager, because they simply aren't good enough (most of them aren't regular starters, which makes you think its not a coincidence that they're unhappy.

Wasn't to fussed about the sudden change of style it seems the players haven't taken to it. Shows by the inconsistency in performances.

This reflects worst on the board though. Recruiting in November, selling Bogle on deadline day (Bignot didn't want to), continuing their support in him, allowing players to influence their decision and then finally sacking him with 5 games left of the season. This leaves me in further doubt about whether they'll choose the right man next. Im seeing suggestions of Russ Wilcox (shudders), Adkins (again, lol) and Slade. I'm slightly too young to remember Slade here but he's never been promoted and has an appalling record recently.

Lessons to be learnt on both sides here; Bignot needed to take things slower and ease in his style and change of personnel. Older players needed to act maturely and not go behind his back. Fenty needs to step down.

You're making yourself look quite obsessed. Find a Grimsby poster on here who wanted Bignot out and then come back to me. Go and act the big man on The Fishy, where you should be making these posts.

Even Lincoln will start losing games again at some point. I wonder if you'll be here to defend the team at that point.

Bloody hell you could have set me a harder task, like finding someone on the fishy that DIDN'T want him gone! Christ there's a lot of depressed folk on there, much more upbeat today though since the news broke.

Just put him on ignore, not even worth responding too, he only came on this forum once Lincoln became good again, at least the other Lincoln posters are decent

If it's true that Gowling had a hand in this then I wouldn't be surprised. All sorts of things suggested about his 'snake-like' ways when with us. Strikes me as a bad egg.

...and it's all gone tits up for them since they got rid of Ranieri, hasn't it?

Congratulations. We also said at the time, why don't you go and inform the posters on The Fishy of this, but you keep coming back to tell us all what they are all saying like some kind of deranged nomadic messenger.

I also don't think it will turn out to be a disastrous move. I, like a lot of Town fans, wasn't fully convinced he was the right man for the job. However, he clearly deserved way more time.

Does anyone know if Slade still plays 4-4-2 with little fast wingers and a big man/fast man up front combo? Or has he adapted his ethos a bit more?

I only ignore genuine tits; Impish is just very misguided.

Heard similar about his time at Lincoln and Carlisle as well?

I am very interested to see how these last 5 games go. A few wins would suggest it was the right decision but continuing in the same form throws up so many possibilities.

Big Russ went to 4-5-1 with us, but went back to 4-4-2 with two decent wingers for us back in 2014 and he got us to 3rd in League One!

Still think he'd do a job at a stable club myself, he did ok at Cardiff. Charlton and Coventry have far, far too many problems IMO for anyone to really have a chance of doing well.

Bonkers decision to those outside the club. I could just about handle it until people mentioned Russell slade.
Guy is one of the most overrated managers around.
This stinks of rowett and zola and a club who is getting ideas above their station.
Whatever happened to stability ?

05/06 was a quality season, in my opinion. The football wasn't pretty but it was effective and there were some really exciting games. It just went terribly at Cardiff.

After our game Bignot kept all the team on the pitch and gave them a real bollocking while we were celebrating with the team. At the time I thought it was a bad idea and could well be the reason why the players wanted him out

Kept them on the pitch after every game, no change there.

I've no feckin idea what to make of this. I thought the Donny selection somewhat bizarre, perhaps even naive. The Blackpool selection was even more strange but we got the result - with the remaining fixtures we actually had a chance of winning every game to finish on a high. Surely, he deserved alot of time, to patiently build the squad, surely Fenty would give him that after he gave Hurst so much time...?

So it must be something behind the scenes. If he was pushing for more backroom staff and Fenty pushed back, then we are in trouble with attitude from Fenty. We need a specialist fitness coach - I thought the Donny players just looked so much sharper than ours in the second half. A more scientific approach to fitness is important - maybe that's something people like Adkins and Cowley have brought to clubs which has got them success at the lower levels where perhaps there is less attention given to it.

However, if there was a player revolt, then that makes it less clear what right call was for Fenty. Maybe the step up was too early for him - managing full time pros is different from managing mainly part-timers.

I blame Paul Hurst...

When we played you in the play offs later that same season Slade looked a lot ̶h̶a̶p̶p̶i̶e̶r̶ ̶ fatter

Cheltenham soon saw to that though. Former Lincoln captain John Finnigan lifting the trophy as well, lovely stuff :pmsl:
