It must be hard to steward/police in such a small ground.

I honestly think 2-2 was a fair result, Vale were against the ropes but they hung in. I know a lot of Vale fans and they're good lads, looking forward to next seasons encounters.

Yep, also they've had no experience of dealing with this sort of thing before either, we haven't had a Crewe v Vale game in decades......

To be fair, Staffs Police are equally inept when it comes to letting Alex fans out of the away end at Vale Park. Plenty of other police forces seem to come in for stick for the big games as well. Seems to be a country wide problem.

Dave you need to cut down on the saltiness, this much salt is bad for your heart.

Don’t have a lot of salt in my diet, mate. Not sure what you’re on about.

I thought it was an afternoon of good fun and nonsense. Certainly not one of the better quality Vale/Crewe matches but plenty of blood, sweat and tears. A real ding dong battle between two sides who wanted to win and battled well I thought. Crewe bossed the first and last quarters. We were the better side in the middle two quarters. 2-2 was about right although going into stoppage time ahead you expect to win the game but that is one of many reasons why we r towards the bottom of league 2. Overall happy with 4 points from Easter and baring a strange turn of events I look forward to renewing hostilities with the bottom botherers next season.

Pulling your chain lad, just think your comments about Artell are a bit OTT. He's as passionate about Crewe as most of the fans are and a decent bloke, perhaps a bit provocative but he's alright.

Over 100 police on duty today, but where were they in the ground? A bunch of 50 year old stewards cannot handle those handbags.

I’m drunk so I will admit that he does occasionally make me chuckle when you’ve fucked up. I’d like him more if he didn’t have a massive chip on his shoulder about little Vale and our intelligent fans.

He has the chip because when the Ryder takeover didn’t happen and contracts had to be resigned he buggered off to Chester after telling the squad it would be alright in what Adams described as Churchillian manor... ended up playing non league as we waltzed to promotion as he missed out on it. Coward yes but shafted himself. Quiet an interesting read in Mickys autobiography.

That said he’s derogatory about most opponents win or lose isn’t he, always worth a chuckle on P&G.

Dario used to bore everyone and then talk about his VHS and Davis used to just come out with the damn right bizzare after we sent them down.

Aspin was classy in his post match interview again however. Didn’t deserve the win on the balance of play and need to be better.

I will say in fairness to Artell if he's manager of your team you're probably loving it. I guess the parallel to draw is how Micky Adams wouldn't need a second invitation usually to needle them.

Having seen the highlights back I have to say a few people in that Vale team need a long hard look at themselves for somehow allowing them a three on one over on Gibbons side of the field. In injury time when trying to see a game out that is simply not good enough (really nice finish to be fair). Then again I can see why Crewe fans would be irritated with what they were doing prior to us getting the penalty. Playing a pass like that is such a low percentage play at the best of times.

Dario loves a VHS..

That exert from Adams’ book has stuck with me and is the reason I dislike Artell.

He’s like Adams but Adams was funnier.

Meh all Artell did was cost himself another promotion on the CV... if we’d have got it with him in the team of course as Boom Chilvers and Clayton McDonald did alright prior to the arrival of Purse to help us finish the job.

VF16, you make out like you don't care about Crewe but all you've got to say is negatives, you're actually deluded pal. Don't blame you for being drunk Dave, and I'd hate him if I was you too.

Aye, I agree. The goal celebrations added nicely to the atmosphere. Recent Crewe/Vale games have been a little sterile, this one was a good old fashioned scrap.

Fair result, I wasn't confident on any of the late corners crewe had at 1-2 and felt the goal was coming.

Is it actually confirmed that Boot feigned an injury to come off?

On a side note... loved the Black shorts with the white kit! Hope we go back to the traditional colours next season.

There is a story going around, from a good source, that during the game Smurthwaite was getting tons of abuse from our fans, old Norm was giving it back in spades and his language was, shall we say quite spicy, then an Alex fan squared up to him and Norm bottled it quicker than Ryan Boot. Poor old Norm.

Not sure why he's getting abuse, he's doing a grand job.

Perhaps a bit of ABUSE ought to be directed at your own chairman too, or is his head still buried balls deep in the sand ?

Why are Crewe fans tugging at abusing Vale staff and players anyway? Isnt that just normal football banter that happens week in week out?

Not according to the police, unless you have some additional information, don't keep it to yourself now.
