Sutton visit Vale Park tonight, what are we to expect? Think we will make changes as we did against Crewe possibly with a couple of our good youths in Shorrock and Walters to come in. Should be a tough game for us.

Best team I've seen this season.

Get your players dressed in body armour and crash helmets.
Great, we've got a cracking footballing side this year but that's mostly with little midfielders like Chislett, Devine and Arblaster could do with them not getting kicked off the park!

Seem to have some good players on paper but for whatever reason their form has been really poor, the alter ego of us as they won big first game and then went on a terrible run whilst we lost 7-0 and then went 9 unbeaten!

Won't be easy as we have a bit of a fixture pile up so will have to rotate.

We know all about getting hammered on the first game and then going unbeaten in the league since. It's the preferred option.

They are clearly bang out of form so easy progress to the next round.

If we get through we’ll get the winner of the vale/sutton or bradford/middlesbrough match, if peterborough win they’ll get man utd/city/lpool etc.

So is how it tends to work when we either progress or get knocked out

Same with us last season, we narrowly lost to Brighton and they go and get Man Utd in the next round the bastards! :bg:

That team is either Oyegoke in CM or a return to a back 5. Not sure which is worse.

Showed ‘Boro far too much respect.

Given all their fluid passing, I don’t think they hurt us too much. For me, this game just highlights our unwillingness to have a go. Rabbits in headlights - scared to fucking death.

I mean, when you’ve fuck all in midfield - what do you honestly expect?

Smallwood starts on the bench - WTF? You’ve got a RB and RW in CM - make it make sense; you can’t.

That being said, ‘Boro were shite. We were just a whole lot shitter, as per.

Can't say I expected anything from tonight's game. We're a nothing club compared to Middlesbrough.

Managed to make a largely 2nd string Port Vale work for it at least. Probably as good as we could realistically expect. Made 7 changes ourselves but not necessarily weakening the side in places. Smith, Clay and John were all absent after the weekend. Hope at least a couple of them are back for Crawley Sat.

Gave us a good game and battled hard, we had to get some of the big guns off the bench to get the job done and needed a screamer to win it.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

We were a million miles away from them tonight, didn’t lay a glove on them, could have been 3-0 at half time with no complaints. Hughes admitted afterwards he’s only bothered for the league but we could’ve at least tried tonight with the selection, we flog tickets for £5 then go out with zero threat and as Firthy says a RWB and winger as your centre mid against a Champ side.

I didn’t make tonight but from what i saw from mates, stats and sky it looks like for the first time this season we came across a side who properly took us to town and showed us who was boss, after an early goal they took over and were lucky to get in at 1-1, when they scored early 2nd half i thought that was that.

Once more though, the manager clough is saw what was needed, made the right subs and we dominated the 2nd half and got yet another late equaliser though thoroughly deserved.

Special mention to pym who got stick from peterborough but then celebrated back infront of them to win the game.

12 unbeaten, next.

How many do you think you will take away to Port Vale in the next round?

Whilst Sutton did battle well and our second string had to work for it, let's be honest? They were fucking awful. Lee Angol is an absolute donkey. Craig Eastmond got mugged off by a teenager. Kizzi would struggle to control a ball if it was attached to him. Their keeper had a very good game though, and made one outstanding stop with his feet late on.

If it wasn't for a defensive howler, we could still be playing now, and they still wouldn't have scored. Fair play to the brave souls who made that jaunt up on a Tuesday night. Some journey that.

First priority is a Premier League big hitter, preferably away. At home will do, as long as it's one who will sell the away end (so no Brentford, Brighton, Fulham etc...) Failing that, I'd take Middlesbrough away as a last resort purely to tick off a new ground, same with Brentford and Brighton but would be underwhelmed.

We all know we're long overdue yet another tie with fucking Burnley though, let's be honest.

Awful is very harsh. We’ve also hit the bar and Pereira had a good chance. You didn’t create that much more yourself despite your possession and our keeper hasn’t had a lot to do other than the save you mention. Your other big chance comes when everyone is up in injury time. On another day we get to the lottery of pens as you needed a decent 2nd goal late on. Good luck with the draw, hope you get a better one than we got!

There was 40 plus places between us in fairness and they caused us far more issues than Crewe in round 2, hit the bar (would like to see that again as to if it went over the line). They were very physical and direct and the striker was lucky not to walk after 6 minutes but they came with a game plan and almost got to penalties.

Loved that Pym had another good game and more shoot out heroics, especially infront of the manager that he fell out with at Posh. He’s a bad loser that Ferguson, couldn’t have been any better against those classless bunch of c***.

Actually agree with what Hughes did tonight. Hard to say what a team is like when only playing us but Boro are not shite. They look a higher echelon championship side. Professional, slick movement and passing, need to sharpen up on their shooting. Rabbits in the headlights is very accurate Firthy, at least we did better in the 2nd half and the return of Patto is a great bonus.

miserable c*** isn’t he

The 2nd time in 3 games we’ve been losing late on and scored at the death - though we certainly deserved it.

Got some real steel to us so far.

Predictably it’s Port Vale.

At least it’s at home, and a decent chance to get one back at them for the play-off final.
