We dominated without really doing anything that second half. Players knackered. Need to beat Guiseley to guarantee too 3 then rest everyone after that.

That is devastating. I think that's us done, personally.

Would have taken a point pre-match. Thought we should have had a peno first half when idris went down.
Pretty even game without any real clear chances (except the goal).
Massive massive game Monday.

I would prefer to play Aldershot in the play offs if possible, so hope they make it. Most likely to be Daggers for us though.

Good win Lincoln, but surely you could've given Torquay a point? ;) I don't want to see them go down but it's looking increasingly likely now.

Sutton 3 Gateshead 0. Even first halfc, penalty just before the break scored by Deacon turned the game. Two 2nd half goals from Biamou sealed the deal in a comfortable win for Sutton. Still only 5 points clear mind, but our goal difference over Braintree is probably another point

We've mugged Torquay out of at least a point. No way did we deserve to win that, but yet again, we've shown we have bollocks of pure steel. We're not the prettiest side in the division, but we're the most resilient, effective, and organised.

I feel sorry for Torquay, go and get the win on Monday lads and stay up.

Very surreal, emotional feeling for us. We could be back in the Football League in 72 hours time. Indescribable.

Just looking at the relegation battle. Unfortunately I can't see Torquay surviving this time. So hard to call the final spot with all teams having matches against teams with little to play for and some playing each other.

I think I'm going to settle on the loser of Guisely vs Solihull going down on the final day. Gut feeling at the moment is Solihull to drop as they've lost all momentum. Woking vs York in the 2nd last match is big but I fancy both to stay up along with Braintree.

Torquay were very good today, Keating especially. Definitely deserved at least a point. Adam Marriott changed the game for us, his shot being parried led to the equaliser, a foul on him for the FK. His knees must be totally knackered if we can only risk him for 20 minutes of football every month.

Scenes when Sam scored though. Absolute pandemonium amongst the retirees in the echo stand.

We were well, well off the pace today despite starting brightly. When Woodyard has a questionable game, that just about sums it up, although Knott clearly isn't a central midfielder. He had a mare in there and didn't help him.

The time wasting started from the very first minute when Ginnelly's cross/shot went out for a GK and it took the Torquay 'keeper exactly one minute to get the ball back in play again and that theme continued all game really. Kick the ball away when it's our FK, turning their head away when the ball was being thrown back to them so it ended up 5 yards behind them. Lots of stupid things and they were lucky to only pick up 2 yellow cards for time-wasting/kicking the ball away.

First half we were ok for about 20 minutes then Torquay steadied the ship to get back into it a bit without threatening. Their biggest threat was from set pieces and the quality of those were the polar opposite of ours and were fantastic all game, as was the delivery from wide areas (but not the wingers - Young and someone else kept putting them in). Farman made a good save, or looked to, to smother a set piece header and he did the same in the second half as well.

The second half was a basket ball match, ironically enough, like the last time we played Torquay. Both sides were bypassing the midfield in the main and hitting the channels. It was end to end with no control in the game whatsoever. We hit the inside of the post via Marriott and it was a good ball in for their goal although on live showing it looked like a half knee, half head, half chest kinda one but I might be wrong with that. More of a bundle than a clean header.

That left it for one big effort in the final 10 and what a response. Two late goals, which we've done a lot of this season. Two quick goals, which we've also done a few times. And another match where the Cowleys have got their subs bang on. Sub Marriott sets up sub Anderson, then Marriott wins the free-kick for the goal. Habergham sticks on in the far corner and I'm struggling to breath. 4th goal and he's on 19 assists as well. He's basically a good Sean Newton (which I didn't think I'd be saying because Newton did great for us, he was just questionable defensively).

As I say, we were off it. We weren't really winning second balls, passing way so, so poor, set piece deliveries were shocking as well, not much in the way of tempo and intensity. All very lacklustre. But we can win when not playing well, which has served us well this season, particularly in these last handful of games.

Torquay didn't play like a side down there, but they just seemed to come up short all over the pitch. A bit of pace, but not quite enough to counter attack. A bit of decent passing but not quite accurate enough etc etc. GK's distribution was horrendous. They looked like a lower mid-table side who probably should be safe by now, or at least close to being.

Congratulations Lincoln, over the season there's no doubt you deserve it. So many ifs and buts for us, but when it comes down to it we've just not been good enough against the sides at the top.

We have an awful record in the playoffs, and judging by today's game I wouldn't fancy Aldershot in them. Hopefully we win our next three which I'd expect us to do on paper, and go into them in good form.

First half was end to end, Aldershot maybe shaded it but 2-2 was about fair. Defense non-existent on either side. Second half a completely different story, neither side looked like scoring. I have to say today's referee has set a whole new level of incompetency... he forbade his linesmen from making decisions, even ignoring them giving free kicks! Must have been cos he was on the telly and they were ruining his big moment... Also the most one sided referee I've seen this year, think Waddock must have slipped him a twenty or something :/

Fair play Lincoln, nobody can argue that over the course of the season, you have not been the most deserving team. I know I've suggested we're a better team and I stand by that, but we don't deserve the title, you do, so congratulations.

Hopefully we'll get some form for the playoffs but we're clearly knackered. Worried about playoffs but let's just see where we are in 5/6 games time.

Again, well done Lincoln, you deserve it.

Fair play to Aldershot, who caused us more problems than any other team to visit Prenton Park this season. However, with Jay Harris in the side we might have won that game, as Maynard was clearly not match fit and did not provide any protection to the back four.

On the evidence of our games against the two sides, I would much rather meet Dover in the play offs than Aldershot, although second place looks far from secure for us now anyway.

Well done to Lincoln, although I will reserve my full congratulations for when they have their hands on the trophy. That could easily be on Monday, as we have a tricky game at Guiseley and Gateshead are apparently already on the beach.

I've given the Tranmere fans some right grief the past couple of weeks, but I'm impressed with the level of humility shown today. May the best team win the play-offs.

Wasn't sure about the Kanu penalty claim, though his strop when it wasn't awarded was amusing. There were a couple of other claims which were rightly turned down. Thought there were a few decent efforts on target from you in the first half, which brought decent saves out of Davies.

Thought if Aldershot had gone for it in the second half, they could have won it, but seemed to settle for a draw and if anyone was going to win it in the end, it was probably Rovers. They're probably the side I'd most like to avoid in the play-off semis.

Congratulations to the Imps on their near certain return to the League after today's win. Over the course of the season, they have been the best team.

Can't really add much more to the other Imps posts other than I don't often feel sorry for any opposition team, but did for Torquay today, they were very good. We haven't been at the races for the majority of our last half dozen games but still somehow manage to get the result at the end. Danny on the radio said the players were running on empty so it's still not going to be easy to get 5 more points.

To be fair to the ref, he was only 13. If you look at his record, the only Tuesday night games he's reffed have been during the school holidays.

I'm just disappointed for non lincoln and tranmere fans that the race will almost certainly come to an anti-climactic end. Obviously it won't bother Lincoln that they don't have to wait for the final whistle of the final game, but it's a shame from a neutral point of view that we couldn't at least keep right on their coattails til then. From our point of view, if we are to miss out on the title, it might be better psychologically to do so now rather than in agonising fashion. I think deep down the gaffer and players will know that the play offs beckon, but as professionals they have to push against that and try to remember that crazy things do happen in football, and keep going until the maths confirms it's over.

Cowley gets on my bloody nerves, as last season we were hoping for Braintree to stop defying the odds and let us into the play offs instead. They didn't. This season he's done the double over us, left us with the all but mathematically guaranteed prospect of the play offs, and treated the Lincoln fans to a bloody good fa cup run in the middle of it all. I don't like him one bit.

A crucial win especially with Braintree and York also getting three points. Deserved it too. Macclesfield, despite still having a chance of making the play-offs, seemed to be timewasting at 0-0 in the second half. They were poor and had nothing up front. Just goes to show how terrible this division is.

Maidstone, what the hell did you do to Delano Sam-Yorke? Man of the match again today.

Cruised to a 4-1 victory against a woeful Barrow team. It shows how average this league is when they are so close to the playoffs.

Good job Wrexham gave Keates a three-and-a-half year deal.

Didn't you lose 5-0 at home to Braintree not too long ago? Hardly in a position to call anyone woeful

Is Kevin Nicholson going to do his 'fake scowl and pretend he's more annoyed than he actually is' act in his post match interview?

Not sure if you've been made aware of it enough, but it is all Mills' fault.

In all seriousness, Keates signed about 6 players that gave us a side just about good enough to move clear of relegation trouble. But we have been utter shite since Rooney and then Tilt left. I expect, and desperately hope, that at a push there are only about 3-4 of these players still here next season.. but like this season and the season before it will be a whole new squad assembled together with not a clue how we will do.
Agree on the 3.5 years, rather insane.
