Some sort of FGR XI lost 5-0 at Bishop’s Cleeve last night. Assuming an academy side, but who knows. Got West Brom on Friday.

Talking of our pre-season, Horseman has quite rightly criticised our schedule. Three Championship clubs, no side of a similar standard a league or two below and for some reason playing two home games in successive evenings meaning the second one v Everton u21’s was mainly trialists and youth so basically a waste of a friendly for most of our actual first team.

On the subject of trialists, we’re in double figures in how many we’ve used in our friendlies, including at least 3 different keepers and 3 or 4 different LB’s, none of whom have signed (yet) but have taken playing time away from our actual players several of who look short of match fitness. Doesn’t help that we aren’t sure how many more players are leaving either. Hope our last game on Friday we play our best team and give them a chance to gel a bit more.

If Wrexham don't want their star players injured in pre-season they shouldn't go to countries desperate to replicate our leagues and play against youngsters from some of the biggest clubs in said league system in packed stadiums off the back off a massive Disney documentary. Absolutely no chance either players are charging in for that ball in front of a couple of hundred people away at the Dog and Duck.

Gutted about Mullin but I feel it was a matter of time with the way he puts his blood and sweat into everything on the pitch. Hopefully he’ll be back for Autumn.

We’ve still got a very good side without him and will be interesting to see how we do. Would take being in and around the play offs by the time he’s back fit and firing which is realistic I think.

We do look thin on quality upfront now for me though. Think the cheque book will be out - see when Hayden and Tunnicliffe both got injured in one game and we were swooped straight for O’Connell.

Final pre season game this weekend, abit of an odd one as its away at Barnsley, it's not often the bigger club plays at home in these sort of games but it will be a good test. Our 3 main forwards Long, CBR and Nevitt all struggling with injuries though which isn't good.

Is that a bit odd that you're going over that way for a friendly? We're doing the same, away at Fleetwood on Saturday. We've both got home games on the opening day so I wonder if it's an attempt to replicate the start of the season early?

Very possible, I know McCann wants them firing on all cylinders from the start not taking 2-3 games to bed in

West Brom at home for us this evening, if they put out a half-decent team it could be a repeat of the games against Coventry and Plymouth where we go down to a pretty heavy defeat. If nothing else it will be interesting to see whether our current squad are able to at least try and play the gegenpress that is favoured by our new management team.

It is pretty obvious to our fans that our squad is short of a bit of quality, we only have three defenders on the books at the moment if you don't include the lads who graduated from the academy who would probably benefit from sime time away on loan...and could possibly do with at least one more forward.

The start of next season is starting to look like a bigger cluster than the last one...which would be hard to beat.

We are playing another MLS reserve team tonight (Philadelphia Union II) before coming home. At least this being on the east coast it's not on quite so late 00.30 instead of 03.30 so will probably sit up and watch it.

Will be glad when the league starts tbh.

Out last preseason game tomorrow v Bromley.

I'm hoping Conroy & Gladwin manage some game time. Both were playing at the end of last season with injuries. Gladwin had a knee problem, but has been seen running. Conroy was playing with a tear (!) in his achilles which need an op. Not sure how you play through that.

I was going but I've been told I have some work to do around the house and it's best to keep on the sunny side before the season starts.

Our last pre-season game was this evening at Hartlepool. Harrogate won 1-2 with goals from Armstrong and Odoh. All our games have been away from home due to the ongoing construction work to improve the away end at Wetherby Rd.
