Hopefully McDonald, Byrom and D'Ath to come into the team that finished 13 points clear of Oxford.

...Can't think of anything else to say, wasted all my brainpower thinking of the title.

Michael Appleton really has got under your and the club's skin with that bit of trolling. :2thumb:

He doesn't seem the smartest of men or have the capibility of humour to make a joke like that. Plus as we know with Page (Boothroyd before him), football managers always seem to think they are right.

Haaa that's such a weak line. You know he trolled you and you all got upset during your open top bus tour and you started singing about us and you got sucked in too far to back out now.

We were the best team in L2, everyone said it apart from Northampton and we are showing our superiority in the current campaign where we are leaving you for dead.

3-0 Oxford, more goals than Northampton have fans.

Ha, Tinpots having a cast now,
Can`t compare this years teams with last years, our side has completely changed (half of yours has also)
Rob Page took over a team that would have made a decent fist of this league and has fucked it up big time.
Me and me mate will see all you Oxford fans on Monday

Shame Oxford lost all that 'respect' when they had an open top bus tour for finishing 2nd , one behind 1st if you didn't realise. ...Tinpot.

Saying all that, we will lose on boxing day.

This is exactly the kind of losing mentality that caused most fans of other League Two teams to label us the "real champions" last year.
That ones gone right over my head ???
Anyway, where`s your angry sidekick eric? Thought he`d be on here by now

We received about 3 million for our players that left including our top scorers.
Appleton is preparing the ground for some of our current squad leaving in the January transfer window.
With him we have a manager who commands respect without acting like a nob and identifies young players cast off from clubs higher up the pyramid who later earn us a load of money.
We are also playing fantastic football creating lots of chances.

All that said we could lose 2-0 on Boxing Day and you could leapfrog us in the table. I think we both can build for next season with an outside chance of finding a bit of form and challenging for the play offs.

Behave. Northampton can look forward to showing us how good they are at being L2 champions again next year.

I see Kelvin Thomas is turning into Gareth Ainsworth by going on about budgets as an excuse if it goes wrong claiming ours is 40 or 50% bigger.

I can believe that to be true tho, Robie said above that you probably sold some of your lads for 3M, surely your chairman has put some
of that back into Appletons kitty.

Do you know what's cool about your Chairman complaining that we sold players and used the money to pay other players?

We did spend considerable sums on Curtis Nelson (£200k*), Marvin Johnson (the biggest fee but undisclosed) and Kane Hemmings (£250k) in terms of fees. That said that £3m won't all be received this season either.

I'd be very surprised if our wage budget is anywhere near 50% bigger though, albeit I reckon we have a bigger budget. It does still smack of making excuses if it goes wrong though. I'm fairly certain Scunny aren't using budgets as an excuse for individual games.

In response to Dolph.

We took O'Dowda off their hands for £900k as well, so that's nearly £4m straight away.

Reckon they've still got a few saleable assets in that squad as well.

Don`t think he was complaining Tinpot, just being realistic.
Never seems to happen here, we sell players on and the profit always seems to go on "running costs"

Fucking hell. there`s no way most in this league can live with that, looks to me like you`re really under achieving. Appleton out :bg:

Nah, he was making excuses and it was plain to see.

Surely the difference is that we sold the player of the year to a team making a burst for the Premiership and you sold some journeymen players to sides in the same division as you.

Having seen him play, I'm convinced that Ricky Holmes is better than Kemar Roofe.

No point really other than the fact that Northampton are extremely unfortunate to get less money for Holmes than Oxford got for Roofe.

Is it unfortunate or bad management? We paid for Roofe after building a good relationship with him and West Brom during his loan spell with us after he had already had a couple of unsuccessful loan spells elsewhere (including Northampton).
We then played hardball all transfer window to get the price that suited us knowing full well that it would be a significant dent to our chances this season.

My understanding is that Roofe has been playing extremely well at Leeds recently who are doing a fair bit better than Charlton.

On the basis that Roofe had never played above L2 level and has scored only one goal in 21 appearances this season and before last season hadn't actually scored that many in L2 either.

Maybe it's more Oxford being fortunate to get 3 mil for him rather than Northampton being unfortunate.

Roofe may have been 'player of the year' but only scored 4 more goals than Holmes.

League position and head-to head results are no indication of which team might be better :bg:

I'd be very surprised to hear any Leeds fans wanting Holmes over Roofe.

This is why no football team has ever trusted you with a £3,000,000 transfer budget.

£3mil for a bloke that has had one good season in L2 and has never played above that level is ridiculous whatever way you look at it.

I'd be very surprised to hear any Leeds fans wanting Holmes over Roofe.

He obviously has age and potential on his side but I reckon Holmes offers more in his overall game currently.

Not sure how I've ended up in this debate, I'm not really bothered I just responded to the 'player of the season' 'journeymen' jibe which is quite funny when you consider the fact that Roofe had already played for 6 clubs before Oxford at only 22.
