These Final Hours - Zak Hilditch

An emotional film depicting the final 8 or so hours before the Earth is destroyed and a self obsessed man's journey on the road to redemption. He leaves his lover/girlfriend on the morning of the last day to go to a party where his girlfriend/lover is but on the way meets a young girl lost from her Dad. Whilst embarking on the journey with her, he realises what's really important. A thoroughly enjoyable movie - if you can have one about the end of the world - that is thought provoking and emotional. Don't let the fact that it's a bloody Aussie movie put you off!

Channel 5 were today doing a good run of decent 80's films today and one i decided to watch was Innerspace which i loved when younger but have not seen for a long time.

it was still a very good film, Martin Short is superb in the film and Meg Ryan was super hot in it.

but the film just flows through, very enjoyable

This film really had the potential to be awful. But it's the exact opposite. I don't get tired of watching. Joss Whedon is amazing

I wasn't too impressed really, plotless, predictable and most of the movie was fighting.

Wargames. 8/10

I remember watching it on VHS in my yoof and afterwards setting up my c64 and pretending to hack into my school to change the grades.

The Kingsman is a lot of fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is very enjoyable to watch. I think it's by the same people who made Kick Ass and it has a very similar feel to it. It's all the action of a James Bond movie exaggerated ten fold with none of the seriousness.

Rescue Dawn (2006).
Americans prisoners in a Vietnamese war camp where the prisoners just argue all the time which was bloody tedious to watch, i got so bored after 1 hour i couldn't watch any more. I decided i couldn't give a toss about them escaping or not that's how bad this film was.

A lot of people on here have probably already watched the film but just watched There's only one Jimmy Grimble(2000).
Class football film and quite funny especially when the team are in the first round against a bunch of rough shits and the match just becomes a brawl... Not sure about the bird he pulls at the end though.. Would give it 9/10.

Went with my wife to the cinema for the first time in almost 7 years last Monday (since our first child was born). We didn't know what to watch so chose to see "Seen Unseen" at the Odeon where you don't know what you're going to see until you go into the screen. Saw it was "It Follows", watched a minute and decided to walk out as we don't like horror films. Might try again in 2022.

Football getting called off all over the place due to frozen pitches, so when my wife kicks me out of the house I need somewhere to go.

Ex Machina
I thought this was excellent. I quite like films when the number of characters are reduced to a minimum and the location of the film is only a few rooms. Could almost be a play. A very nice introduction to The Turing Test and Artificial Intelligence too. Also, the robotlady is beautiful.

Boyhood
Left the cinema and was amazed how much time had passed - which I guess is a good thing? It's easy to dismiss it as gimmicky but I think they pull it off.

Watched when it came out in the cinema a glorious bloodfest with humour thrown in as well. It's about time i watched it again but i havn't seen the remake as you can't beat a classic film and god knows why they thought it would be a good idea.

Remake isn't anything special, but it's a fairly enjoyable watch. Enough to warrant buying it on dvd/blu ray anyway.

First one was pretty cool. Second one was exactly the same so a bit predictable while they don't even get drunk in the 3rd! The fuck's up with that???

Does it keep any of the humour or is it just gore?

On a side note.. Cabin in the Woods is utterly top notch.

Have you seen the sequel? They dig out the old WOPR because it's the only thing that could outsmart a modern army computer, apparently.

I thought that the idea of any computer from the 1980s being able to even come within a million miles of my iPhone, let some a state of the art military thing was pretty laughable.

Why? Why risk going to see a mystery film when at least one entire genre is enough to see you walk out after 30 seconds? Are you mental?

Whilst ill with the flu, I've been confined to my bed and watched a fair few films. So:

Upstream Color - Shane Carruth

I'm all for a pretentious film but this took the piss. The camera work was all over the shop, the sound went from inaudible to 11/10 and the film seemed to just go wherever it wanted to with no rhyme or reason. I would describe the plot but I haven't figured it out yet.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - Francis Lawrence

Katniss is back but in more of a frowny/shouty way than a Robin Hood/Ollie way. I really enjoyed it and thought it fitted in well to the previous Hunger Games films. Less action but more thought provoking. And Philip Seymour Hoffman was outstanding again in his small role.

Universal Solider - Roland Emmerich

What a film! "Can you hear me solider"?! "It's empty"! Dolph and JCVD are "great" - I use the term loosely - as 2 deadbutnotdead soliders that break out of "the program" and start remembering the shit that happened on their last tour before the died/didn't die. If it were made a couple of years earlier, it would have made my top 20 1980's films.

Men In Black 3 [2012]

Hadn't seen this one and caught it whilst flicking through last night. Quite a lot of fun with good chemistry between Will Smith and Josh Brolin, with some excellent set pieces and a great naff story. This one seemed more in tune with the original and it ran along in an entertaining fashion.

I watched Star ship troopers the other night which I must admit is still pretty entertaining, I thought it may be one of them you enjoy first time then it isn't that good, but its quite a fun action packed film.

then last night watched North by Northwest..............that is just a classic, for a film where a lot doesn't seem to really happen it does just grip you right into an excellent storyline.

But computer technology was basic back then and computer hackers were almost unheard so security was lax, so it would have been much easier to infiltrate those systems, today computers have become much more sophistated but so has security. But lets face it if you analyse most movies they're all pretty unrealistic.

There was nothing else on that we fancied watching (or waiting for) so we went for it. We thought it was funny.

I watched the Lance Armstrong documentary on Netflix the other night and really enjoyed it. I obviously knew about what happened but not to the detail it presented. Fascinating stuff.

The sequel isn't man v machine, though, it's computer from 1984 against computer from 20whenever. Silly really.
