Time Bandits.

I just really enjoy this film for the bad guy...........Evil, played by David Warner and is for me maybe my favourite Villain of any film i've seen.

His big rant on God and how he wastes time on things like Daffodils and Butterfly's when he'd started on Lasers is just superbly done.

A shite remake of one of my favourite shite 80's films with none of the original charm. I like Chris Hemsworth, but Swayze he aint. 5/10

I watched The Big Lebowski the other day for the first time ever since it came out in 1998. It's silly as hell but I loved it.

Got the choice of Birdman, Fury, The Interview or Dumb and Dumber 2 tonight. As it's with my other half it'll probably have to be either The Interview or more likely Dumb and Dumber 2.
All bad options, in my opinion. If you're going for a recent "big" film then getting your hands on Gone Girl or Boyhood would be much better options. Haven't seen Fury or The Interview, but haven't really read/heard anything that makes me want to watch either of them.

I can sort of understand spending some time laughing at how shit Dumb & Dumber is by watching it on one of those freeview movie channels in a couple of years time... At the cinema though?

The Interview sounds like a crap film which has done well due to a publicity stunt which has paid off. I've heard reasonable things about Dumb and Dumber To, really good things about Fury and mixed opinions on Birdman. Looks like Gilly? disagrees though!
Dumber and Dumber To is terrible. Absolutely wank. I'm 100% with Gilly on that. Birdman, I thought was just unnecessarily gimmicky and without getting into the plot/spoilers I can't really tell you why I didn't like it. I should watch Fury to make my own mind up, in all fairness. I thought that The Interview could be entertaining but I have just heard so many bad things about it that I have no desire to watch it now. I feel like those guys need at least one of Michael Cera, Jonah Hill or Danny McBride in their films to make them decent.

One of Daniel Radcliffe's better performances even though I don't really rate him as an actor. I really liked this flick, I'm a fan of Alexandre Aja so I always look forward to his films coming out. The script itself wasn't all that but it doesn't stop it from being a good couple of hours to throw away. Sold. 7/10.

The Interview was a strange one, the funny bits were genuinely funny but everything in between was really, really dull. I can see why North Korea didn't particularly like it though.

I'm quite eager to see Birdman, originally I thought it was about that myth 'Birdman' that lived in the woods and scared the shit out of folk. Now I'm over that disappointment of it not being about that I wouldn't mind giving it a watch.

Foxcatcher is great. I didn't know the real story behind it until now.

Certainly a film that had no need to be made! Wolverines!

Birdman
Brilliantly shot, brilliantly acted, Michael Keaton is superb and I wouldn't get off Emma Stone until the neighbours began to complain about the smell. 8/10

The Theory of Everything. Must admit I've not seen the lead, Eddie Redmayne in anything before, but would be surprised if he doesn't win the Oscar later this month. Amazing.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, what a wonderfully quirky film that is. Would expect it to win some of the filming and cinematography Oscars.

Boring. Olivia Cooke is nice though. 4/10.

Paranomal Activity: The Marked Ones
Bit naff but I quite like how they linked it to the rest of the films, there's a distinct lack of getting 'haunted' which was a disappointment too. If it wasn't for the fairly decent ending it'd be a 5/10 rather than the 6/10 I'll give it.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Meh, it was ok at best. 86 minutes isn't long to throw away. I've seen worse but wouldn't rush to see it again. 5.5/10.

The Frozen Ground (2013).
Seemed like a dragged out episode of Criminal Minds. Based on the murders committed by Robert Hansen in Alaska in the 70's and 80's with Nicolas Cage playing the cop who got him. 7/10

Just saw Whiplash.

That was pretty fucking intense, it was a bit like Full Metal Jacket meets Black Swan. Knew nothing about the movie beforehand but saw it had been well reviewed. J.K. Simmons gives an outstanding performance. 8.5/10

The Dark Knight - 6/10

Absolutely no interest in all these comic book films but my mate has always banged on how good the Batman films are. Well I have to say I found it distinctly average.

It had the promise for greatness but the ridiculous cartoon characters just kill it as a respectable film for me.

Housebound - Gerard Johnstone

After a botched robbery, Kylie - not Minogue - is sent to her mother's house as the court places her under house detention. But in this house, there are noises and bumps in the night. Is it just her or is there actually somebody, or thing, there? A black comedy horror from New Zealand, it pretty much hits all the right notes and maintains the dark comedy all the way until the end. Very enjoyable!
