Oh my days. I was all set to write a smarmy reply about how 'there's only ONE Westworld!' thinking this was a different thing, but it actually IS a series from Westworld! I'm about to lose my shit

The film is fantastic and always worth a watch, I hope they do it justice.

Enjoyed the first episode. Like how they turned the film on its head a bit put their own fingerprint on it early on.

Reckon it's gonna be a good series.

I gave up 45 minutes in. Will try it again later in the week, I didn't really 'get' it.

They wrote it as if we should care about the AI without sufficiently explaining why in my opinion. It's still unclear to me what they're actually capable of experiencing or thinking. The first episode was interesting and I'll keep watching but I can't say that was blown away by it or that I cared about much of anything that was actually happening in Westworld. The scene with the dad robot and Anthony Hopkins was gripping, but the rest was quite pedestrian when the stakes are seemingly so low.

Really enjoyed it, thought it was a promising start. I could be biased though as I absolutely love the film. Intrigued by Ed Harris's character and what he's all about. It was kind of creepy how the Dolores robot was able to lie to the creators about 'not having hurt a living thing' then swats a fly at the end, sets it up well IMO. I'm glad they didn't try to change the basic plot

I have to say, I'd never even really heard of the movie, let alone seen it. But I checked out episode 1 last night and I thought it was a very promising start. Can see plenty of potential here

Is it better to watch the film before this, or this before the film? I did not know of a film and I got a little confused with it all as I got the impression I have missed key information.

I think it is yeah (better to watch the film first). It just gives you that bit of background before hand so you don't need to start trying to link the dots together whilst you're watching it. Plus it's an ace film. The show does seem to have shifted the main attention from the guests of the resort to the robots in the resort though

Half way through episode one, so far the best thing has been the soundtrack. Absolutely superb, orchestral version of Paint It Black and a piano version of Blackhole Sun. Awesome.

Just got through the first 2... Wow. Right from the beginning, utterly compelling and chilling.

Went into it knowing absolutely nothing about it, hadn't even heard of the film, but at this point I think I'd rather be taken along for the ride so to speak, rather than find out any plot points ahead of time.

I'll be honest, I only watched it because I saw Anthony Hopkins in the trailer, and his character doesn't disappoint.

Watched the first episode. Thought it was ok, a little intriguing. The English bloke was annoying in it though, hopefully his character won't be in it much. I do tend to immediately switch over when I see anything like a western but I'll try and stick with it.

I've just re-watched the first episode again after I gave up with it first time around. Got to say, my thoughts on it have changed, loved it. Must have not been in the mood for it last week.

I think the last episode was the revelation that Hopkins is playing God while Harris is looking to free the consciousness. Excellent series about how the conscious works, wasn't expecting it. They basically give the plot away in the third episode when Hopkins explains the Bicameral Mind.

Almost up to date with it now. One of the best things about this is the music.

Wait... I thought the hosts weren't allowed to hurt the guests at all?

Wait... I thought the hosts weren't allowed to hurt the guests at all?

I thought that too. You don't know the timeframe of each storyline though, maybe the Revolution/ War storyline happened years ago and the decision to stop hosts from hurting guests was made later? The Laslo host having been reassigned to Loris is a clue I think.

You can get hurt, you can't be killed. That's why one of them got shot in ep 2 or 3 and went down. It's a bit loose on the details though cos they seemed to be kicking some shit in that last episode. But Arnold created that part of Westworld so it's possible they're playing by different rules I guess.

So who is going to turn out to be a robot then? Hopkins or Harris? I'm guessing the latter.

I think it'll turn out that either all of them (perhaps bar Hopkins) are androids. The two-timeline theory seems most prevalent right now and would explain a lot, like why the MiB has no name yet, and is possibly...

Yeah I do think it's going to be something like that. The scene in which they sit together and MiB goes for Ford with the knife only for Teddy to stop him as a bit of a smokescreen indicating that it was Teddy that stopped him when his programming actually doesn't allow it.

Dunno about the double timeline thing though, not thought about that. Initially I thought with timelines it could sink with the film with MiB being programmed to be the gunslinger. And the fact there's other worlds in the film which'd tie in with the expansions that Ford is planning. However those expansions, like Medieval world, could exist in the TV series world already it's just that nobody in Westworld knows about them.
