How many do you think are going down? As reading this thread, 7 or 8 of you all seem certain you're going down.

I'm not certain that we are but unless we pick ourselves up and get a few wins, we are going to be dragged into the mire. No offence like, but if we do go down, my memory of this season is beating you lot twice having failed in the Conference and in League two.

Now we're in the bottom four I don't see us moving out of it for the remainder of the season. Truth be told though in comparison to when we last went down I remember being genuinely angered at the club but this time I couldn't care less. All interest and enthusiasm there ever was for Vale has disappeared over time. The club simply are not worth peoples time and effort while the idiot remains the chairman.
Chin up pal, I remember feeling like this not too long ago with Rovers. I remember in L2 and we were playing Bradford away and got spanked 5-1 or something. I was at uni and my dad text me the score, which I replied yep, I'm not even listening on radio, I can't even be bothered anymore. The next season we got relegated for the conference, lowest moment in our history.

Before I knew it, I was going to every home game again and as many away as I could afford. It's a long process to lose enthusiasm for your own team, but it only takes 1 game to get it back.

Unlucky on today though pal, we sounded dreadful and there for the taking.

None taken. We were poor and you played well in the game at our place, Deadman was his usual self but you deserved the win.

One away goal in 13 hours of football, stuck on 39 points, we might be about to have our first ever relegation.
We may have been poor trying to come to terms with Wimbledon tactics yesterday, which was to try and bully there way to a result being very physical combined with every trick out of the book of gamesmanship. At least we did try and play a bit of football and deserved the 3 points for that reason alone.

The thing is those tactics are not working for Wimbledon, so welcome to the relegation free for all!

Mate we've got Conor Thomas, hope you've got someone to cope with his shocking control and general lack of quality or you won't be winning.
We told you he was bad when you signed him off us, he can only pass backwards or side wards , it's really frustrating watching him play football.
Unbelievably Liverpool nearly signed him for 1million a few seasons back but they had him on trial first to make sure, he was soon back with us and nothing ever was heard of their bid again.
I wouldnt wish him on any team.

Strangely his better games I've seen have been at right or centre back. As a midfielder he offers nothing.

The way things stand at the moment, i reckon anyone on 48 points at the end of the season would be safe this season!

Teams get their arse in gear when it comes to the business end of the season. When they are staring relegation in the face they pick up a few wins especially against those midtable teams with nothing to play for.

We are on course for the lowest surviving total in a while but I wouldn't be surprised to see it pick up before may

Decent point for us tonight.can't see the bottom 3 surviving. I recon everyone is scrapping over the last spot. I'd be surprised if 52 is not enough. Difficult set of games for those in bottom group this weekend as well.

I really hoped we weren't going to be involved in this thread but here we are, 6 points above the drop.

In absolute freefall at the moment. Can't defend for toffee and have a manager who insists on trying to play attacking football when it's clear to anyone that we don't have the personnel for that, the bloke has no plan B.

Just have to hope those below us don't pick up enough points because if they do, we're bang in trouble.

But you've got Ricky Holmes, who will tear our defence a new one on Saturday.

After Southend Away we have a run playing fellow strugglers:

Swindon H
Northampton A
Shrewsbury H
Coventry A
Walsall A
MK H
AFC Wimbledon H
Chesterfield A

Absolutely huge four weeks that with two of our three games in hand during this spell. Need a minimum of 5 wins I reckon from those. In fact five wins and a draw would see us on 50 points. Last few games are tough after that.

Doesn't matter if you can't keep them out at the other end.

Holmes scored three tonight and we still lost.

2 wins in a row (albeit against feeble opponents) have given us a squeak of a chance. If we can beat Chesterfield Saturday it sets up a massive 6 pointer away at Port Vale.

The signing of Rohan Ince has been massive for us, he's now fit and is a pinnacle in centre midfield. Obika and Ajose's goals may just keep us up yet.

Massively important win for Shrewsbury last night.

Half time and 2-1 down, we'd sunk to 20th place just 2 points clear. Oldham, Bury and Gillingham all winning.

At full time, after winning 4-3 we are up to 16th and 5 points clear.

For me, it's interesting how some clubs are finding some form. Bury, Oldham, Shrewsbury and more recently Swindon have managed to string a few good results together whist Port Vale, Gillingham, Northampton and now Charlton have all dropped down the league. A few weeks ago it looked like being 4 from 6 to go down, now it's 4 from potentially 9 or 10.

Although some were disappointed with other results not going our way last night, our win and Cobblers losing makes the number of drop candidates that much bigger.

Can't really see Charlton dropping, but Gills were absolute pants last night - God knows what's happened to them from last year. Still, I'd have that Ryan Jackson, though.

Coventry and Chesterfield are beyond saving now, Vale have up to 3 games in hand. We must still be favs for one of the spots.

What's happened to all the Vale fans that showed up when they beat us earlier this season? They were pretty arrogant that day, weird that they've vanished.

My son was born on that day, so I've been pretty pre-occupied since, understandably.

Needless to say, it's been an absolute shitstorm since then, and a worrying end to the season awaits.

Same when Robbo was with us, in fact he said " If Plan B was so good, it would be Plan A. :2thumb:

Shit I'm sad, I'm strangely looking forward to visiting some grounds I never thought id go to.

Now we are down , the prat in the cap needs to go asap and get a manager to plan for next season by having a look at what we've got for the rest of our games this season and plan those he thinks he retain and can do something with, though that's almost like asking for a miracle.

Get rid of the goalies and the prat in the cap ,and already we are a better outfit, bring in some of the excellent U21/23 lads and bingo we have a half decent team.

I want an end to this continual pain, but we have so much shite in the team a good clear out may not have happened if we stayed up,so reluctantly I have to say, bring next season on.

If opposing fans continually put most of our players in the worst team that could be made up from all the teams in the league we only have our selves to blame, for two years the fans have been screaming that the two goalies wouldn't look good enough in the Fox and Hounds B team, yet 3 managers have seen nothing.

As you all know, most of us didn't pick the team we support, my Dad is to blame for me, but once you support them you stick with them through thick and thicker, in our case.

So its off to Grimsby and Accrington I go, please god let this be a short visit.

I wont be posting to much more in this forum as I introduce myself to the league two forum, but I would like to be man enough and apologise for my spat with the Sheff Utd fans on here concerning
them singing we want SISU at the Ricoh, it was I'm sure meant as a sarcastic jibe which I misread, and I wish them well in The Championship next season, and maybe our great clubs will meet again in a league match at Brammel Lane one day in the future

Rev,

If it's any consolation I remember SU being relegated to the 4th div in 1981. The darkest day of our history but it retrospect it turned into a positive. Many still quote the 1 season in the 4th tier as their most enjoyable ever. There'll be a massive novelty factor so in a perverse way there'll be a sense of excitement going to grounds many have never seen. You will be seen by most clubs as the most exciting fixture of the season so, many matches will have a special atmosphere, especially away.

For a club to move forward, first they need to bottom out, it's only then that real foundations can be laid. The concern is that no one really knows where the "bottoming out" base level is because SISU seem intent on moving it lower and pulling the rug from underneath.

One season in the 4th tier could end up a blessing and kick start your club. Have good day out at Wembley but it could have the feeling of going to after party at a funeral.

Keep going to matches because supporting a team at their lowest sorts out the men from the boys. Have pride that when you see mediocre team on the pitch you are supporting the good name and history of CCFC, it's tough but it's make your supports special. History shows that big clubs get back to where they want to be sooner or later. Good luck!

The 1st season in the Conference was a bit like that then it turned into a nightmare.

Thanks sheffsteel for your kind words.
I've decided I can not go to the tinpot final as after listening to debates etc I've decided the competition goes against everything I believe in. They changed it for one reason only to make money and it seems it's backfired. My team has shown no fight whatsoever this season not even a gram of passion in any game and the whole team are full of cowards with no balls at all, plus the manager plays tactics from the dark ages , hoofball at its finest with every player out of position.
So I'm recharging my batteries and putting all my effort into going as much as I can next year, watching what will be a young team made up from our decent academy and U21,s etc.
They need my support as you rightly say more next year than they have ever in all the fifty years I've supported them so I'm strangely looking forward to the challenge.
When you can't see any light at the end of the tunnel opposing fans chants strangely seem to hit really hard as everything is so depressing it feel like hitting one more nail harder into the coffin, but me and my fellow fans were definately over sensitive on that night, we should of just waved it off as football humour and got on with it. Christ there more important things in life than getting upset over a silly chant.

I've spoken to a Wolves fan who also hit rock bottom in the not to recent past and he said the same itslike going back to the footballing roots where you stand at most games with little segregation and you really enjoy going to places you never thought you'd go to see your team play and the majority of the clubs always make you feel welcome.
My only hope is a complete fresh start, new owners would be my main wish but SISU seem intent on taking us down as they continue there hate spat with the local council, we are now on Judicial review 2, which now involves Wasps, so I can't see them going anywhere yet.
So a new young manager who hasn't failed anywhere yet, new team and lets crack on is my hope.

Good luck again next season and enjoy the ride, I bet you are looking forward to two games especially, if they don't go up which I don't think they will.

He is a good shot stopper, and that's it. He is so undecisive, every cross that comes in you really have to shut your eyes because anything can happen, even the tamest cross he could balls up deciding whether to come for it or not.
The defence are petrified of him, they have no confidence whatsoever he will make the right decision and he effects the team.
What makes it really bad is he is the better keeper of the two, Lee Burge should never be in league football, Sunday morning pub football yes but nowhere near the league.
I warn all the teams in this league , if you ever hear you just signed either of these two run for the hills or start an immediate campaign to stop the transfer.
