Funny how at the start of the season quite a few on here thought I was talking shit when I said we'd be the best footballing side in the league. No one's disputing that now.

In general you are quite an abrasive poster.

Stop being a dick. He stated an opinion that the majority of our fans agree with. Your team's roughhouse tactics have probably cost us one of our best players for the run in. Coops and Lindsey were not happy.

The fact that it's you saying that just backs my point up lol.

3-0 men against boys v your lot. And about 70% possession in both games at your dump ground.

Physical game yesterday, particularly in the first half, referee lost it for a bit and started flashing cards in an attempt to regain control. Bizarrely he was helped by the breaks for Pinnock to be treated and then taken off the pitch as the players calmed down a bit, but only just. Jennings nearly created a bit of a bizarre record, of being sent off in the same fixture that his brother saw red in last season, albeit having changed sides in the intervening time. I thought the penalty looked very soft indeed, haven't seen the highlights yet, though the celebration from Noble was monumental. We are starting to look very good at home, after drawing far too many games, but it is the away games at Lincoln and Tranmere that will determine whether our slim chances of overhauling the Imps are realised or another attempt at the play-offs beckon.

The season is far from over...no fat ladies round these parts, we are all vegan now!

I'd said the pen looked soft too but noticed reading one of the Wrexham local paper's reports they thought it was clear and as said no protests from Wrexham's players. Certainly Kaiyne took a bump from behind.

What narked me most was how Penn didn't get booked for kicking Charlie Cooper when he was on the floor. Justice that he got nailed later in the game.

From behind the goal the penalty looked harsh against Wrexham.

Not sure, when we're on our game and we dont get disrupted by physical/direct sides (which is our weakness) we are a match for anyone.

Here are the goals. Pen does look soft but as you say no real protests which suggests there was a foul. Not sure what the free kick was given for for the opening goal. I can only assume the Rovers player got shot given how he went down.

Fantastic finish from Doige. Only a player on form would score that!

Free kick given as White pushes their guy over for no reason, he's 6 foot 4 and can't back himself to flick a header on. He'll be released in the summer I suspect, he's just not looked up to it at all and he's probably on a decent wage. Not a penalty though, the player is already falling over before Riley even puts a foot in.

Looking at that it's maybe Woolery checking his stride rather than falling before he gets clattered so maybe fair enough. If that's your cameras should get another view when our highlights come out. It was a real confidence finish from Christian, maybe he'll get himself in the Wales reckoning one of these days.

On current form, Doidge is the best striker in the league. He can do everything, strong in the air, good on the ball, got enough pace to run onto through balls and works his bollocks off every game. 21 league goals now and none of them pens.

Here's our highlights, pen incident around 3.30. Angle not much different but again looks like Kaiyne was adjusting his feet and got clattered. Doidge's goal bears repeated viewing :D

21 goals? Thought he was supposed to be on 50 by now. Byron Harrison would be close to 30 goals by now if he didn't get injured at the turn of the year. Can't look past him or Cook in my opinion.

Best footballing side? Never FGR from the few matches I've seen. Just an opinion.

1. Player promised at least 20 goals at start of season, which he has fulfilled. I'm not sure where you got that figure of 50 from.
BTW FGR are the leading goalscorers thus far in the 'Conference'.

2. FGR are a very good footballing side this season, probably one of best in the National League if not the best.
I accept that you have different opinion but you also say you've only watched FGR a few matches which is obviously not a good guide to a team's regular style of play.

1. That was just a dig at Chris' pre-season boasts. I'm sure he's a good player, but obviously all anyone can base an opinion on is the games they've seen. The two I've suggested must be up there with the best.

2. I've only seen the home game against us and a couple of TV games, and in those games there was no free-flowing football, just scrappy play, pointless playing it out from the back only to be tackled, and a whole heap of play-acting. I've seen better, that's all.

Your very own ChrisFGR promised us 50, nobody cares what the player says, he's done nothing yet.

I predicted he'd get 15-20. http://www.onefootballforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/national-league-top-scorer.11755/

And as you say, I've seen a lot more of him then you. On current form, there isn't a better striker in the division. 19 goals in his last 22 league games, (no pens).

Exactly. So not really in a position to judge then, are you? Just ask fans of the likes of Tranmere, Aldershot, Wrexham, Maidstone, Woking etc and i'm sure a lot of them will say we play nice stuff.

Watch the highlights above and you'll see the ball on the floor 90% of the time, us constantly playing it out from the back and the sort of passing and movement that you rarely see at this level. That is the way we always try and play, whenever we can. At your place we had to show a different side to our game, cos it's impossible to play it out from the back on that pitch and we'd have played into your hands.

Also we are comfortably the top scorers in the league.

I think we are heading for an interesting playoffs. Really hard to call.

If we assume Lincoln will win the league (far from secure but they've been the most consistent team over the season) then it's incredibly hard to see who will make it from the rest. Tranmere and Forest Green look, to me, to be the best equipped and I do agree that FGR play the best football in the league. Their defence still looks a bit shaky (not against us but we can't score this season) Tranmere have blown hot and cold and Dagenham have shown that on their day they can beat anyone. Whoever makes it from Barrow, Gateshead and Aldershot will also be hard to beat. All decent teams and play offs rarely go as predicted.

At least one of big spending FGR or Tranmere will miss out. That's the only thing that's (almost) certain.

What about us? We beat Gateshead and Aldershot then 5th place is as good as ours

Didn't Boreham Wood put five past you recently?

You are right though. You should be in the list for possibles and depending what team turn up you could certainly be hard to beat on your day.

Could be a rematch of last years play offs us v Dover. That would be interesting. Two teams who score lots of goals, but are capable of collapsing and conceding a fuck load when put under pressure.

Boreham Wood always beat us. We'll have Ricky Miller back on Saturday. Should have put 4 or 5 past Bromley, just missed his finishing. Still a lot to do, especially given the run of fixtures we have coming up but I'd rate our chances more highly than Barrow's.

No offence intended but given the choice I'd fancy our chances against you over two legs more than anybody else in play offs.

In league this season with a 1-1 draw at TNL and a 4-3 home win in Kent all Dover supporters would want FGR in promotion play-off.
But if Dover would to be FGR's opponents, the little village club at top of hill would not be overawed knowing that we ended Dover's interest last season and this season we have team equal to or even better than last.

Our record against the top teams this season has been dreadful.

http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/national-league/2016-2017/versus-top-third

We've also got a long history of bottling big games so I'd say our chances in the playoffs was slim.

We are a better side than last season and more importantly, more experienced.

I accept that we (or whoever finishes 5th) will be rank outsiders in the play offs but I'd fancy our chances if we could get there. Dagenham are the team I'd be most concerned about as they've outplayed us for 180 minutes this season.

We managed to take 1 point from Woking, Solihull and Boreham Wood. If we'd taken the 9 we should/could have done we'd be third right now.
