To be fair, Preston don't seem to have too much of a problem getting to play-off finals (today was their 5th in 10 attempts), it's the final hurdle of winning them that so far has eluded them (same goes to Sheff Utd).

This time it surely should be different, though. In none of their previous play-off failures were they the best team in the play-offs, whereas this time they are, and comfortably. Not discounting the quality of either Swindon or Sheff Utd (who have both beaten Preston), but they couldn't have a better opportunity to finally break their "hoodoo".

4th time actually, not 5th.

Almost as hilarious as the nobs on Otib discussing expanding AG to 50,000 so they will be ready for Europe!

I kid you not

I don't quite get why some City fans think Swindon not going up would be 'hilarious'.

I guess they think crap like Friends is the world's funniest programme and this have a humour threshold which differs to the average human.

Had we been relegated then, perhaps we would have been worthy of a giggle, but to miss out on promotion when we weren't really expecting to, I find difficult why anyone would find it 'hilarious'.

Each to their own I guess.

Long term gains.
I sense the dying embers of a season long Swindon-Bristol bitchfest may spark into life here unless we're careful.

I'd rather play Swindon, Sheffield United are still a bit of bogey team in my eyes and they're very much a 'cup final' team under Clough.

We're fucking garbage against Sheff United, FA cup replay aside. I bet our head to head record is considerably in their favour.
That, and we'd be totally outnumbered at Wembley. We'll struggle to sell 25k.

Our head to head may be a bit better but your a better team this year. You 100% wouldn't be outnumbered it would be our 4th trip to wembley in 6 years 25k tops from us

That's the record attendance set by Gillingham and City in the classic years ago.

Absolutely no danger that will be broken this year.

No chance that will be broken unless coventry get there against a big team who comes down.

Is that it?

Considering our game vs Walsall had 72k in attendance for the 'Mickey Mouse cup', it really puts into perspective how good that crowd was.

Preston will sell more than they think they will - I couldn't envisage us taking 42k to Wembley earlier in the season.

If we got to the PO final in this league - if we played a relatively decent sized club, I'm sure it would break that attendance.

Do we still hold the record attendance at Wembley for the Hull game in 2008?

Not sure I remember the game you're on about. Could you describe it to me in detail? :fish:

Think qpr v derby last year beat it not 100% sure though. That jpt crowd was exceptional taking over 40,000 thousand despite the fact you had already played at wembley before was very impressive.

We've already filled a 52 seater coach and booking another one. Most of them are family friends who barely ever go. We will take 30K minimum I think.

We did that - and it was mixed on the way up, part-timers mixed with regulars, so on the way back we decided the people who wanted to speak football and just get pissed went to the back, and the boring bastards who's first game was the JPT final went to the front.

On the way up - apart from the booze, it was pretty wank, as I made the mistake of sitting next to the people who watch Bristol City about twice a season.

Am I the only one who has just noticed that the years in the title are wrong? Should say 2014/15, not 2015/16.

The same 4 teams will be in the play-offs next year, a little premature though I agree.

The Man City vs Gillingham remains a record for the third tier, but it wasn't a record attendance for the play-off final, Charlton vs Sunderland the year before remained the record in all three divisions before your game against Hull.

As someone already said, Derby vs QPR just beat that record last season.

Here's a list of play-off final results and (from 1990) attendances, although it only goes up to 2010.

You say 'is that it' - don't forget our game against City was before the rebuild, so the capacity of the place was smaller. About 80k I think off the top of my head. Pretty impressive really!

I'm not denying that's it's a pretty damn good attendance, I'm just shocked no two teams in this league have ever bettered it.

What's the pricing likely to be like at Wembley?
Work find it hilarious to pay complete crap when your on the sick, don't realise people have bills and have interests.
Anymore than £100 I very much doubt I'll be going.
