Superb win for us once we got going. That Charles miss is one of the worst I've ever seen live, right up there with Sam Smith's at Reading and funnily enough that game also turned following that shocker.

I still find it hard to believe how lethal we are at set-pieces this season. Any Pompey fan will tell you how awful we've been at them down the years but this team has something about them. I expected Bolton to come out and put up a fight in the second half but they were poor and it was a fully deserved win in the end.

Big shoutout to Kuseni Yengi who bullied Santos for the majority of the game, too. The ref had a shocker, it was like Santos would have to punch him to have something given against him. To be thrown to the ground and get up and buzz past him for the second was great.

I won't get carried away with the win. We've been here before and fucked it up. This win just means we can afford one more bad result than the chasing pack now. Play like we did tonight, though, and I don't see too many bad results coming in our remaining 26 games.

I’m still baffled by Santos, I’ve never seen him have a decent game! Yet he gets rave reviews! Must have a twin that plays whenever he’s on TV or plays against Vale! Real strange one that.

First half was really chaotic, direct, loose in possession and two awful missed chances, the Bolton one of course is a shocker and the Pompey one before where he squares it but absolutely rifles it to his team mate five yards away!

Second half though Pompey were in total control and Bolton didn’t really look like scoring.

Yengi looked a real threat and mobile.

Not a high quality game, proper blood and thunder but a lot of pressure on it I guess and a big result for Pompey.

I'm almost certain people pick Santos out as a good player just because he's big. Seen him 6 or 7 times now and never seen him have a good game! He's got the turning circle of a tanker. Think he's probably a bit of a flat track bully who looks good against poorer players but as soon as he comes up against someone decent it shows him up a bit.

Poor quality game but obviously it was all about the result. Most league 1 games are to be fair. Portsmouth ruthless once in front...just like they were against us.

Poor quality game!! I thought it was a fantastic advert for our league.

You're watching with your fan's hat on though. As a neutral it was pretty dire stuff, particularly first half. Division 3 football is generally pretty poor, with the odd good player thrown in.
It was poor quality, a lot of wayward passes especially first half.

We looked comfortable until Charles missed that sitter, then we just lost shape and stopped playing
Portsmouth press was just like our play off semi against Barnsley. We got bullied and lost our shape.
Funny how we see things Santos for me was fouled time and time against Yengi, but Yengi looked quality for this level.
Our midfield never got going and Santos and baxter slowed the game down and just let pompey re-group and press

Portsmouth well worth the three points...........looking for re-action Saturday

I agree. Some decent pubs around London Bridge and then 20 minutes on the train. Old school but decent ground in the heart of the community rather than some soulless retail park. Easy train back into central London for more beers before home. I went at the end of April but couldn't make the more recent one. I hope we're both in the same division next season.
I'd recommend the Anchor & Hope pub as well about 10 mins from the ground on the River, albeit much better in the warmer months.

Cambridge game was really poor for us. Completely bossed by them first half and then two late goals let in after we decided to start playing in the second. Story of our season really.

Out of every cup and miles off the playoffs before Christmas. I don't know whether I'm being overly generous but I feel like we have some really good players but as a team they are woeful. We've been crying out for a goalscorer for years and after finally getting one alongside one of the best wingers in the league, Blackett Taylor, we are still set for another year being miles off the pace.

Attendances plummeting already, we need a big January.

I think some of your forward players are the best in the division. May and Blackett Taylor easily 2 of the best. It's your defence that looked so naive and susceptible... that's your issue. Sort that out and you'd be flying.

I still can't believe he missed it. I was hoping the lineo was putting his flag up and just thought he'd scored and not celebrated. Potentially would have changed the game, but apart from the blackpool match we've not lost when going behind since Barnsley away in March.

Go again Saturday.....Think last night told us we are not as good as some think
We go up i cannot see many Championship standard. Load of bollocks sprouted on our forum blaming Bodvarsson....He was quality, we lost it because we fucked about at the back and lost our shape

We had this against Blackpool. 27 unbeaten then bought down to Earth with a bump then 3 games in a week, beat Burton away then comprehensively beat Northampton who were on a good run then you guys. It'll be how your team react will tell you alot. Doesn't make you a bad side losing once.

Total crap..That was a top of the table clash with neither team wanting to lose. A bit patronizing to say I'm viewing it from a fans hat. I've been a Pompey supporter for a long while and no a good game when I see one.

I think you.ve been watching to much Prem

We've had an apology from the officials regarding the Vale winner on Saturday, seeing as he was about 75 yards offside

He was off as it’s clear on our pitch side video but it’s actually closer than it looks (under Wengers dream it would be onside)! Not sure how the Lino hasn’t seen it!

Apparently the lino was "absolutely certain" there was a red and white shirt between Arblaster and the goal

Maybe he had his Sheffield United top on underneath!

Its poor some of the officiating at the moment, the one we had against Derby couldn't keep up with play and missed loads of offsides!

It was a lot closer than that and having watched it I can see why he didn't put his flag up.
But we still had 70 minutes after that to score and we didn't, so I don't understand all the crying about this.

We gave up 2 or 3 great chances, Smudger even ducked on one! Not sure what the hell he was doing there!

Felt the total opposite fixture to that of May 2022 with all the celebrating and big crowd/beautiful weather, don't think many Vale fans were camping overnight for tickets this time!

Yes, happier times. Though it seems our chairman is already preparing for League Two so maybe he wants it all again!
