I enjoyed the pun...

I don't have an issue with Rhead's weight, my issue is with his ability to go down like a sack of shit. Never been sure about Parkin, never looked like a mean player until his Wembley antics.

Yeah he's an easy target because of his weight, but I'd be more ribbing him for looking like a monk.

I could upload about 20 pictures of Phil Jones faces but that would take too long!!

Also when Lincoln fans chant his name it sounds like "Greedy" and after his head injury against torquay he was dressed as a sumo wrestler!!

Well, watched the highlights from last night....some cracking goals....Aldershot 3rd, Forest Green 2nd, Chester's, Boreham Wood 2nd. Love the banter about the guy Rhead's weight...I'd just call him chunky....Unfortunately I won't be able to watch next Saturday's Dover v Forest Green game as I will be glued to the Celtic v Gers game which is on at the same time ('Mon the Rangers.....:bg:)

Bet that was a tough choice to make lol.

Massive for Scottish football to have the Old firm games back back, usually a cracker as well.

Only disappointing thing was they only showed the three passes before the goal not the other 23 before that .. yep 26 passes and the shot, not bad.

Do you guys reckon you are decent this year or might you fizzle out again?

Hey Chris....believe me mate, outwith games involving Rangers (which I watch irrespective) and Celtic games I'd prefer to watch N L games compared to some of the shit fare handed out to us up here.

Feeling pretty bullish at the moment and that if anything we'll only get better as team gels and players like Pinnock adjust to new level but of course who knows?

I think we'll do it, but need to play a proper good team first, Dover and Eastleigh coming up so we will see!

I'd say I'm a little bit confident we're a decent side this year, yes.

Last year we peaked early. This year we're getting better áll the time. Easily the best possession stats in the league.

And that's without the team being properly gelled yet and getting used to Coops' rotation policy, 4 or 5 changes most weeks. 18 players have started 2 or more games already this season, all of whom have made 4 or more appearances. And we've still got Kelly and Wedg, 2 of the best midfielders in the league, to add back into the rotation as well when they're fit. And 7 players out on loan. Massive strength in depth.

I think we will be more consistent this season, after a bit of an iffy start we are now playing football that is effective and easy on the eye. I can't say whether this will continue into the depths of winter, and out the other side, but I am optimistic that it will. Last season we were brilliant in the first quarter of the season, pants in the second, back to brilliant in the third and poor enough in the fourth to get the manager sacked (but waited till we were safe in the play-offs to post him his P45). Cheltenham and Bristol Rovers went on lengthy unbeaten runs in the middle of the season, which masked any dodgy spells that they had, hopefully we can do the same and follow them into the League. I would say that last season I was 60-40 pessimist that we would go up, this season that is reversed and I would rate myself 60-40 optimist. I am enjoying what I am seeing so far.

All dickishness aside from me (yes, really) - I think the table is already kind of starting to take shape for the season. A lot of the fancied sides, FGR/Tranmere/Lincoln have started well and asserted their authority early doors, whereas a lot of the expected strugglers, Guiseley/Braintree/Ferriby/Southport, are already toiling.

There might be one or two late developers - Wrexham if they fancy spending some money to improve their average starting XI and York who look ok but need to sack their manager (however much their fans on here want to deny it), and a promoted side or two may fade - but I think on the whole, the tone is set.

How on earth have the League not stopped this from happening? Bloody cheats.

And all on a modest budget too. Impressive stuff.

As long as Tranmere have Brabin they'll achieve nothing.
I seem to remember a lot of posters on here (and I include a few Grimsby fans in that as well) who said the same about Grimsby and Paul Hurst last season, yet Hurst took that team who were head and shoulders behind FGR and turned them over.
Tranmere will still win it.

Hurst got very lucky. Grimsby were miles off the pace, and got lucky in the play-offs, nearly going out to Braintree (dodgy pen saved them) and playing us when we'd been in a bit of turmoil. With the budget he had to be so far behind Cheltenham and us was very poor.

If Brabin scrapes into the play-offs by 2 points and finishes 21 points off the top he'll have failed spectacularly.

Not if he still gets them promoted he won't have.
Do you think any of our fans were bothered that we were well off the pace in the league with a lot of garbage performances thrown in whilst we were celebrating promotion?
Of course had it ended badly like as you say it nearly did at Braintree then Hurst would have been slated and probably outed, but as the overall aim was achieved albeit not how we would have hoped at the start, then all the shitty performances before it were forgotten about.
If Trammere finish 20 points off top but go up through the play offs do you think their fans will give a shit?

Brabin won't still be in a job by the time the play-offs start if he fails as badly as Hurst did in the league this season.

No way would Tranmere, or any of the title contenders, tolerate being that far off the pace.

I can't see them sacking him if they are around 4th or 5th or even just outside the play offs going into the run in, (I know they won't be that low but hypothetically) as they didn't even make them last year and he is still in a job.
Surely if he was for the boot it would've happened last season?

Fuck knows what that's supposed to mean.
All your supporters I chatted with were very pleasant and friendly with quorn pies being about the only issue raised.
Talented players who essentially are only there for the big paychecks.
