Yeah nah problems at the lane. Even though we are due to completely redo the pitch at great cost, the current turf has been reported as soft, good in places.

Was certainly soft in the defensive area last time we were there

Never mind, just seen the game is off.

All that effort for nothing.
Love the picture, but have a suspicion that vegans aren't allowed to ride horses...as it might be considered exploitation of an animal.

We can now look forward to a rescheduled game on a freezing Tuesday evening in February...will be interesting to see how many of the "non fans" who bought a ticket for the game today can be bothered to attend.

he's not riding a horse, he is the horse!

Shame about today, but can't do much about the weather.

Very light on fit midfielders today. Only fit one is Conor Thomas.

The rest are:
Joe White - on the bench with an ankle issue which clearly isn't 100% right
Charlie Colkett - On the bench, but the management clearly don't trust him to not break down and never use him
Joel Tabiner - Been out for 6 weeks now
Jack Powell - Out for the season with an ACL injury
Owen Lunt - Out with a back issue for weeks

Not hard to see where we need to strengthen in January.

Heavy rain and gusty winds in Birkenhead. Understandably it doesn’t look as though many have made the trip from South Wales and the locals also appear to be staying at home. Rovers line up as expected.

Playing with our one available striker and a very young midfield leaves me feeling a bit nervous about today.

Walsall ‘keeper managing to get two warnings and then a booking for timewasting inside 25 mins here, a genuinely heroic effort.

You win today and I reckon the Walsall manager is gone after they lose to Alfreton in the cup replay.

1-0 Town, another absolute fluke of a strike from Abo Eisa for AdamStag.

Should pull you away from the relegation zone so good for you!

You’re also hobbling crewe which benefits us though it’s hard to imagine they’d stop up there anyway.

2-0 up against Crewe at half time but they have come back from 2-0 down must be 5 or 6 times already this season so not taking it for granted.
My lads there and he said we’re good value for it so far though.

Just like we did at MK Dons in the first half, we've dominated Crewe in the opening 45 there. Could see them coming out the blocks flying in the second so we might need to weather a storm. Played some decent stuff today and have managed to do it on the deck too on a very heavy pitch. Crewe have been pish though and have allowed us all the time on the ball we want, not hard to see that their midfield options are lacking. Still, stick a CB or a fringe player in midfield and they should still know how to press.

Most ridiculous card of the season shout as Mullarkey is booked for taking about 10 seconds to take a freekick when we've got a chance to launch it into their half when we're well in top. Not sure what the hell the ref is thinking, if he gets a second yellow that's gonna be a controversial one.

Newport 0-1 up at h/t. Probably about right though some weird refereeing from Mr Stockbridge.

wait - what's happened? Notts 1 Walsall 2 ????

if these results stay the same it's a great weekend for Wrexham, Barrow and Mansfield

Guess it’s swings and roundabouts having a “tinpot” pitch which can’t host a game today compared to a pitch which can down the road producing another home defeat.

 :ffs:

Crewe made it a bit more difficult in the second but we were comfortably the better team overall, tense ending and our often rickety defence just about held up to see us over the line. Glennon, Mullarkey, Hunt and Conteh all putting great shifts in today. Not sure if Crewe tried too hard to play to the strengths of the elements but they were much more kick and rush than I expected. More encouraging signs under Artell.

E-I-E-I-E-I-O and all that jazz.

Shite performance, manager got his starting tactics woefully wrong and the players just looked tired from about the 5th minute onwards. Deserved nothing, got nothing. Artell set up Grimsby in a simple way, didn't do anything that fancy, they just wanted it more and had more about them in every department.

Driscoll-Glennon was outstanding, as was Conteh. Front 3 were a handful, midfield 3 the same. They just looked more up for it, which is inexcusable from our point of view.

Nobody from the Alex stood out. They were all dreadful in various forms. Burn the match tape and move on to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

You would imagine the weather was pretty similar between just outside Nottingham city centre and North Notts so I can only conclude Field Mill is more exposed to the elements. 4th stand should help things moving forward. Or when the hotel gets finished.

We tried playing through the middle, but that led to your first goal. The pitch was atrocious, you can't play football on that kind of surface. We also suffered from having 1 fit midfielder who could start and he can't pass a football. So we had to abandon trying what we normally do and do what we did in the 2nd half.

Not at all, i remember 4 years ago nottingham having no snow at all (shame as would be a good chance for it to look nice) when mansfield had loads.

Happily the lack of the 4th stand helps mansfield remain unbeaten in the league at home this term.

I’m pleased the non-tinpot pitch was playable today for that satisfying result.

4 years ago? Cool. Today was persistent rain throughout Nottinghamshire so.....

I had hoped we would win today on our lovely pitch which nearly always stands up to the elements but we didn't. Thought I'd join in stating the obvious :bg:

Tinpot pitches and stadiums usually give that club an advantage.

An example of how’s it’s different.

You’re right though, our pitch is nearly as leaky as your defence.
