I do really like Nottingham, although isnt ML between The Meadows and Radford? Are they better now or still ropey?

Harrogate, Stroud and Colchester are all quite nice I think? Most of us are from Northern griefholes though.

Oh and last time I was in Stockport it was all gentrified. Posh coffees and men riding Penny farthings.
Who's in Stroud?

It is nowhere near the student area of Radford. It's between the rough Meadows and fantastic West Bridgford its also right next to the river Trent, a beautiful Test Cricket ground, oh and some atmospheric but in badly need of modernisation and upgrade City Ground that sadly hosts top flight football.

A short walk to the train station and walkable to the city centre. It's basically a joy to visit for sports fans.

Barrow at home. Could be interesting given their new signings and to see if either of our new strikers is fit to play. Personally I can see either of them starting but might come off the bench at some stage. And as usual with Barrow we will get treated to that awful " Barroooooooow" dirge and them singing about Tranmere being a sh*thole when they have one of the worst grounds in the league and come from a town that makes Prenton look like Bel Air. Oh the irony !!!
We even sung that away at Chelsea.

An estate agent told me people were calling parts of the Meadows "North Bridgford" once, so it can't be that bad.

Sutton is too dull to be either nice or a dump

(I do admit this coming from a Mansfield fan) but the area round Prenton Park makes Barrow look pretty tidy tbh.

Though I've never got the "this place is a shithole i wanna go home" it's daft.
I’m surprised, never thought the area around Prenton Park was that intimidating. Mansfield wasn’t as grim as I expected either. Barrow on my to do list so can’t comment.

Home v Barrow to start the season. The pre-season has been a bit mixed, but signs in the later friendlies that things are starting to click. Unlikely that Norris or Dennis in the starting xi. Draw most likely but all options possible.,

it’s not intimidating in the slightest it’s just well, erm not somewhere you’d get a postcard from.

Either or, i’ve never minded trips to tranmere, the pub behind the away has character and there was an ale festival on the other season we played there on a friday night,

I spent time in some absolute dives in Birkenhead but around Prenton Park is absolutely fine.

Terraced houses and a nearby retail park is the standard. Which is far far better than the 'middle of nowhere' small industrial estate type grounds.

From the right angle (the Meadows, shudder) Meadow Lane and the surround is postcard worthy.

When younger I always wished I could have visited as an away fan and combined it with a night out in the city afterwards.

Well we’d normally do liverpool for the weekend which makes playing you on a tuesday night this season rather unfortunate.

If you'll remmeber back to the second half of last season, yourselves (and several others) showed it's not that big a task to come away from EP with a point, as we couldn't break down a Japanese paper door. It's when we were away from home that we could take advantage of opponents' openness
As the only team to lose to Crawley in the first 15 games or so I think you may need to reconsider that.

As to the environs of the ground. The locals call the area around our stadium Broad Oak as Broadfield is considered a rough area.

Harrogate at home, full of confidence after a decent pre season, has 0-1 written all over it but I'm going with the new McCann all attacking era to get underway with a 3-1 triumph.

I think every team that visited us last season sang that....

Wrexham will probably get the old "You're Welsh and you know you are" instead... which the Welsh will take as a compliment, but the English clubs will think is an insult - and which will be an equally stupid chant.
Well there is a reason for that. Barrow is not the most elegant of places (it`s better than Luton though). As for the " you`re Welsh and you know you are" chant. We used to sing that at Chester during our non-league days and boy did that wind them up. They didn`t like it one iota. But they say the truth often hurts.

I posted what I thought our likely starting lineup will be but having thought about it I'm unsure now.

GK: Lawlor
CH: Wood
CH: Olowu
STR: Ironside
LW: Molyneux

those are the only players that I can say with 100% certainty will start.

RB: Sterry/Nixon
LB: Senior/Maxwell
MID: Bailey/Broadbent/Rowe/Close/Biggins
RW: Taylor/Roberts/Sotona/Hirst/Miller

I'm going for a 3-2 win

By the time you visit this season our new 2 million quid Fan Park should be open although at this stage it`s not been announced whether away fans will be allowed in but as they were allowed in the "tent" I can`t see why not.

Ah the Flintshire team. They are the best ones to chant that at, as you say it really winds them up.

it's not something they can really argue too much with either - as the pitch is actually in Wales

Went there for Forest vs Brighton last season with a mate. Was led to believe on one of these away day guide sites that it was an away bar, only to walk into a sea of red! Great pub though (Beer garden in particular) and no trouble from anyone.
As a student there, I can definitely see the appeal for an away day, loads of good pubs of varying types in a condensed space, the grounds are nearby and if you wanna make a night of it you're spolit for choice.

Would even say that if you are going Mansfield its better if you stop off in Notts before and after the game. as I found out from some travelling Gillingham fans.
