Please tell me that you're not talking about Monaco's Benjamin Mendy who's twice the player Robertson is.

G-Dragon is only saying that as Liverpool aren't in for him

Apparently City are also in for Keita....

But ITK says Kieta, VVD, and Robertson will all be liverpool players by the end of the transfers window.

Yep I confidently predict these three among others to come in soon. Unsure they'll get Ox now though, got a feeling he'll stick around in purgatory at Arsenal. Which means Liverpool may look out for someone else who can cover a range of positions when injuries mount up.

Are you both believing the same RAWK poster or something, lads?
I don't follow RAWK mate (which will probably surprise everyone). It's the fact that these rumours keep surfacing and it's always for the same players, and that there is no others being linked to those positions.

It'll have been a good window for you if you manage to complete those deals.

I don't know much about Robertson but most Liverpool fans seem to be happy with the prospect of signing him.

Well that's just the way modern football works isn't it. I mean ever since Owen it's clear we can't hold on to our best players and that's a reality we all have to accept.

That's not the impression I get about Robertson. People are flipping their lid because he's not Mendy, Kolasinic or Hector; but he's solid enough and won't cost the earth, and if it doesn't work, then it's no biggie.

Now that Rudiger and Bakayoko are over the line our main rumours are Danilo, Balde Keita, Aubamayang or Belotti.

I'll be happy if we sell Matic and don't replace him then as well have to use Lewis Baker.

Oh, fair enough - I've probably not seen as much reaction to it as you have but the general impression I got was that he was seen as a promising young full back at a good price with excellent potential.

I'm not sure what Saltire's getting at but afaik nobody who knows anything wants Hector, he's not especially good. Kolasinic is as meh as it comes but I seem to be alone with that opinion so I'm probably just missing something, many rate him. Mendy je sais pas, but taking money into account Robertson makes more sense than any of the rest. He's not a starter by any means but from what I've seen he's pretty good at everything with no glaring weakness, which is enough for me. Especially for a price in the mid-teens rather than 40000 billion dollars after one decent season.

We were linked with Hector last season which is why I included him.

Tends to happen when your club is famous for illegally and publicly tapping players up.

There are plenty of no season wonders that would command a larger fee. Your club's filled with 'em.

They're rightly attempting to take advantage of you having a player that publicly wants out.

Haven't you already replaced Matic with Bakayoko? Or am I missing something here?

We've already openly said it's gonna take 50million, now assuming that's to a premier league side you're still not going to get anywhere with an offer of less than half as much just cos you're serie a. And after you've just took 35mill for a lesser player.

Why would Chelsea sell Matic though? His relationship with Kanté in a 343 was superb throughout last season. I don't see the point in selling him only to replace him with a less experienced DM. This move is quite strange all said and done.

Conte's 3-4-3 doesn't have much use for the more static style of defensive midfielder that Matić is. Kanté works because of his mobility and it is best to pair him with more of a box to box type of midfielder in that system. That's where Bakayoko comes in.

Isn't Kanté also box-to-box? Which would mean that you're implying that playing with 2 box-to-box midfielders works? Which would mean that Kanté works better with Fabregas? In that case, why hasn't Fabregas been paired with Kanté more often (can't be bothered to look it up but he definitely has been paired with Matic more often this season)?

And Bakayoko is a DM. He was paired with Fabinho who is box-to-box. The lyinchpin of Monaco's success if you will.

Kante is a defensive midfielder, he can augment the attack if needed but he isn't a box to box midfielder in the typical sense - it is his mobility that makes him work in the system. Fabregas certainly isn't a box to box midfielder - it would take him about half an hour to actually make the journey from one box to the other!

Bakayoko is not a (pure) defensive midfielder! He is a jack of all trades type (without wishing to do a disservice to him) that will be a much better partner for Kanté and a much more suitable fit for the 3-4-3 than Matić was.

Not mobile enough for Conte? Baka and Kante could cover a lot of ground.

Surely the same as saying you're not going to sell him. I can't see any team paying that for a player who wants out.

Kante and Drinkwater showed it does.

Two box to box midfielders is definitely a viable strategy in certain systems, yes.

I'd avoid it in something like a 4-2-3-1 but it can be used to great effect in a 4-4-2 or 3-4-3.
