Just listened to the Magnay interview myself and shows you should listen yourself rather than read the fishy or twitter.

Sounds to me that he really wants to resign for us and is happy with the wage offered, but wants a bit of help with either the travelling or relocation, as that is what is concerning him most of all, especially as all his car pool mates have left.

Seems the FL clubs he has offers from are smaller than us and he would rather stay with us but the location is the big problem, and he is giving Grimsby every chance to help him out if we want him bad enough, rather than just rejecting us straight away and taking the better offers in the FL.

Not sure some of the info he has given should be in the public domain especially with regards to what he wants from the club, but guess he was just being honest to the questions asked, sounded like a few questions he wasn't sure he should answer them but did anyway.

Guess it depends now on whether we are willing to offer the extras to help him either move or commute or if we won't budge on the contract on offer, but you can't blame Magnay for not looking at the other stuff he has to deal with which I guess can make a big difference at this level, I imagine travelling from Leeds everyday would get expensive and moving is a big risk for a short contract.

Wasn't he the hilariously bad one against Barnet?

I seem to remember laughing at him in the highlights when he fucked up everything before getting himself sent off

Yes, that was him. Barnet fans were asking the ref not to send him off!

Ok, shouldn't read too much into one game, but he was on that day as bad as anything I'd seen for a long, long while.

The Lincoln guys on here are a good bunch and I really hope for them it was an awful off day.

We had him on loan in 2013. I've seen nothing since to suggest there's been any semblance of improvement. Mainstay of struggling Hereford and Welling sides.

Bush is a proper carthorse, one of the least mobile full-backs I've seen. Was one of the worse players in a Welling squad that almost got relegated, not sure the purpose behind Lincoln signing him other than experience I guess.

I remember when he played for Hereford against us one season, he was awful that day. Maybe he has improved but it wouldn't be a signing that would fill me with any confidence.

Listened to it a bit earlier and that's how I took it as well. You'd think he was already out the door by some of the reactions last night. He said himself it's looking 50/50 which is a fair prediction and a lot better than how people have taken it. I hope we don't have another Michael Coulson situation though, we lost a good player there for the sake of £50 a week. We can't be held at ransom but it's better to tie down what you already have than gamble on signing a good enough replacement.

If thats the only thing stopping him from signing, he can have my bed and me and the wife will kip in the shed...... ;)

3 from the spine of the team gone in a week!

Leaves a hefty chunk of budget free so it's a bit unnerving but quite exciting.

People who are ITK about what signings we have to come seem fairly relaxed so it's just a case of wait and see!

Bush didn't fill me with confidence when was here on loan, he was just a bit 'meh'. The fact I can't really remember his 5 or so games for us probably speaks volumes, although he did a steady job against us for Hereford and Welling.

Wood hasn't signed? oh I read on twitter he had sorry, so much going on today didn't even realise it wasn't confirmed. Person who tweeted it, hasn't been wrong with anything he has said so far this pre-season, so you never know.
He apparently signed today but it isn't being announced until Monday. But I've taken that from a forum not as ITK.

Yeah looking on soccerbase he's been a regular starter for them over the last two seasons, clearly his managers rate him or they dont another option. Saw him play for us once while on loan against FGR and I thought he did ok that day, can't be any worse than Tony Diagne!

Maynard and Hogan seem to be good signings, Maynard in particular. Early days but we seem to be putting a decent team together.

We have lost Luke Graham to Brackley. Which I am absolutely gutted about!
That's an odd one. If he was to leave you, I expected him to go to another Premier club. To be honest, I'd have been surprised if we hadn't been talking to him, as we've tried to sign him twice previously and don't have an experienced centre back. Of course, he could just see Brackley as a better option than us :dk:

The thing that probably put Premier Clubs off is his involvement in too consecutive relegations. Still expected him to go to someone better than Brackley (No disrespect to Brackley) I expect him to be a rock in Conference North.

No shocks with our departures. This time last year we were waiting on news of Marc Roberts, Maynard and Pearson staying on. I felt at the time it'd be a success if we kept any two of those on. A season on their contracts have expired; Roberts has been watched all season and had a Birmingham City deal fall through in January, Maynard was our joint top scorer in the league with some stunners and often took a game on his own, while Pearson became a mainstay in the England C team as a part-timer. All three have been among the best servants for the club for two or so years and are all taking overdue steps up. Marc Roberts was nailed on to leave, Maynard about 1/5 to leave, Pearson evens but he's been sussed by many teams. These are our core players departing and they'll all leave many great, great memories but indicate a departure from our rough, tough, uglier play of this season gone. We've been a great platform, especially for Maynard going from being paid expenses at Winsford two years ago to going full-time with Tranmere and I'm proud.

Looking forward to sipping Sam Smiths smoothflow from a plastic cup at Tadcaster in several weeks' time and seeing how the likes of Whitehouse, MacDonald, Maguire and Walker perform. Pearson, M. Roberts and Maynard also had near-zero hype when we signed them and now they leave with a lot of pedigree.

Stockport County.
Second signing of the day is Lamin Colley 6'4 pacy striker who was with BPA last season. 0 goals in 21 apps though 16 were from the bench :jones:

We've only gone and got him. Can't wait to see his expertise in front of goals next year.

Keep em coming, Youngy.

So, including today's 2 signings, we have so far signed James Norwood (FGR), Steve Jennings (re-signing captain), Ritchie Sutton (Mansfield), Jay Harris (Wrexham), Lois Maynard (Halifax) and Liam Hogan (Fleetwood). I have no idea whether that is a good set of signings or not, but to have made 6 signings already (and rumours of another one today) is the complete opposite of the way we usually do business. For the first time in years we actually resemble a professional outfit again!!
Yeah, solid signings to be fair (never seen Jennings play).

Only one I'd question is Harris. Not been at his best for 3 years now and seems to lose interest part way through the season, lose his rag and get sent off.

Yeah that seems to be the opinion of many of the Wrexham fans with regards to Harris. Hopefully it's a case of him beginning to stagnate in his current role and the move may help rejuvenate his career.

Things seem to be looking up though, it's nice to be signing players that are actually wanted rather than the dregs that are left over a couple of weeks before the season starts!

Rhys Taylor, Scott Barrow and the the one and only Lenell John-Lewis all sign for Newport. LJL is probably replaceable, how big a blow are the others leaving for Macc fans?

Sad to see him go just as he'd won over the majority of the fans but after the tirade of abuse he used to get from our own fans it's a wonder he stayed as long as he did, fair play to him for sticking it out. Good move for him, hope he does well. Great player but now it gives us the chance to try something new up top which is what we've needed to do for 2 seasons. We relied far too heavily on him with unfortunately not a lot of end product.

Not fussed either way on LJL, entirely replaceable but has clearly improved so it'd have been nice to keep him. Good move for him, but he'll get less chances in the league and with the ratio of sitters he misses, I think he's going to struggle.

Taylor was always going to leave and end up at a league club, that was inevitable as he's too good for this league. Barrow had a good season where he played nearly every game as he was our only real left-back, L2 might be his limit. Some people expected him to show loyalty as Askey "rescued" him from a period of injuries and not playing but he's never going to turn down a contract at a league club near his home with significantly higher wage when we can offer him very little and 1 year max.

In somes way losing them is a blow, but most of us expect to lose most of last season's squad anyway. We only offered 12 of them contracts and they could all get more money at most of the clubs in this league; none have accepted as far as i'm aware and 3 have already signed for other clubs. I'm finding it mildly amusing that other clubs' fans are complaining that they've only signed 2/3 new players, while we have none. If Askey is staying for next year he'll have to build a team all over again.

Agree on LJL, sad to see him go but don't think he is good enough for the league, unfortunately fans judge strikers on goals scored and not much else and he doesn't score enough to win the fans, only won them over this season because he scored a few. He would still be getting abuse if he played as well as he had without the double figure goal tally.

Can't blame him for going he certainly deserves the chance

Means now Hurst has to find a new targetman as well as a goalscorer, lets hope he can sort it.

Yeah I agree with this. Taylor was always going to leave, he had the chance to in January but fair play to him to hung around to try and have success with us, cant begrudge his move at all.

Barrow has done what Askey gives all players the chance to do, put themselves in the shop window. Not as good as Danny Andrew was the previous season, but thats now 3 years running our first choice left back has then left in the summer to join a league club!!

Good luck to them both.

We've signed Sean O'Hanlon which is a bit of a coup for pub level, we were told we'd get a significant signing today and we were all expecting some player from a league below or something.

Also, Macc have signed Kristian Dennis on loan, which is probably the most predictable transfer ever.
